Dead Rising 2: Case West set for December

That map looks kinda small. I expect a lot of backtracking in the scenario. It also looks more like a RE game in terms of design than a DR game.

so it's a standalone?

hells yes. my gamble on buying the PC version of the main game paid off. i miss out on NOTHING. woooooo!

i was really hoping with the sales of case zero that they'd do this.

Or Case Zero was way more successful than they thought it would be so they're testing the waters with higher priced standalone content.
Well of course. Still, I won't even consider it now. At least 1 customer lost.

Are we sure this is standalone? Kinda sounds like DLC for Dead Rising 2. I don't have the game anymore so that would be a bummer.

I'd buy it if you could actually play as Frank in single player.

But you can't so it's really not worth it to play a worse-performing part of a game I already own on PC. There will be LPs up within the week it releases.

800 points huh :/ :'(

I might get it since i loved case zero and Dead Rising 2, dat Frank :D :D

hope it's longer and more objectives to do in Case West

Not on PS3 where I'd buy DR2 = can't care.

As much as I love Frank, this poor treatment in their multiplatform strategy has left a bad taste in my mouth toward Capcom.

If Frank has his unique moveset from DR1 and there is no way to play as him at all 1p then game is hard fail.

The nuts and bolts of this game go like this. Dead Rising: Case West will be available on Xbox Live Dec. 27, 2010 for 800 Microsoft Points. Although it's another ending/epilogue to Dead Rising 2, you don't need the disc to play this game and none of your stats or items get carried over to this download. Instead, the game starts with a fully leveled-up Chuck making it to the Fortune City helicopter pad to find Frank West arriving to chase his scoop. The two soon team up and head out to a Phenotrans research center (home of the drug Zombrex). Frank's in it for his story and Chuck's there to clear his name.

You know what that means, right? This is a co-op game. Whoever is hosting the Xbox Live game is Chuck and the partner is Frank. If you're playing all by yourself, you're Chuck and Frank is controlled by the computer; luckily, he'll never die. You two run through the place picking up crowbars and sickles and bashing zombies to death.

If you or your partner goes down in a co-op game, there's a set amount of time the other player has to get over and give the hurtin' bud some food. Fail to do this and it's game over. Basically, it's like the co-op in Dead Rising 2, but it makes sense this time as you're not a set of unexplained twins. Also, you can both take photos this time around as you each have a camera. Not every shot will give you experience points, but if you find items with camera logos on them, you can snap a picture of it for some points as you work through the next 10 levels of player progression.

Dead Rising: Case West packs three cases to go through, two endings and a handful of side quests. You even get a fair bit of comedy as Chuck and Frank really play well off of each other. Add all that in with the additions and changes this download is packing, and I'm happy to tell you that I'm sold. I don't know how long the fun will last (I had one case left after my two hours or so with the title and was far from level 50), but I had a great time on my playthrough with a friend and can't wait to see both endings.

looks like I pass for now.

Not trolling here, asking a serious question...

Why does his camera look like ass? I feel like we should be past the point where circles are so angular. It happens in tons of games, and looks totally like shit, and breaks my immersion, etc...

I can't believe people are acting like an online co-op game that looks and plays exactly like a full retail game isn't worth TEN EFFING DOLLARS.

I'm all over this.

It looks like it will have way more content than Case Zero from the 3 different cases description. Should easily be worth $10.

The only thing that's bullshit is that you can't play as Frank by yourself which is just stupid.

I don't even give that much of a shit about not playing as Frank, I just want more of this wonderful game and I really hope it's just a timed exclusive since my 360 (which I played DR2 on) has ceased to exist. I know bitching about this does no good, but it's a damn shame that so many of us can't play this for such a stupid reason.

PC please.

Ok, I'll bite.

I like the "new" Frank West design, but I sure hope you can lose the glasses.
I'm pretty sure it'll be much like every other DR game. Personally I'm going to have Mr. West rocking a pink tutu and a viking helmet if they have it.

So, it's launching today - any thoughts? Most of the people are still opposing this?

Personally i'm not really in my Dead Rising mood right now, but i'll buy it right away (mostly because of the stupid region lock :).

But the map size and it's length scares me a little, especially for 800 points.

I'd bite but I've got a bunch of stuff from Christmas to play. So I'll probably wait a little while.
