Dead Rising 3 runs at 720p and 30 fps

I love the faux outrage over this from people who will clearly not buy the console anyway. Concern trolling at it's best.

Just cause people are not buying an XBO at launch, doesn't mean they don't have interest in the console in the future.

Dead Rising is icing on my cake. Yummy.

He states "It's fine, I am not buying an Xbone" so he had no intention of getting one. I personally think that not buying a console because of resolution of a launch title is the very definition of "not a good reason."

"A" launch title? This is just the latest title which was confirmed to be 720p, there are several more. I think we have 720 damn good reasons to not spend 500€ on such a piece of hardware. And to many people this was clear from the reveal, which sort of confirmed all the rumors before. So of course many people have also decided that they won't buy a Xbox at launch, and I don't think they shouldn't be allowed to comment on this topic here.

Who are "we"? YOU have your reasons; I just don't agree with your reasoning at all.

Lets come back to quotes like this a couple years from now.
Based on what we are seeing so far it is looking more an more like 720p will be the standard resolution for both X1/PS4.

Is that why no, or pretty much no, PS4 game is rendering at 720p, lol? And think about it, if devs wanted to do so much stuff that they had to go 720p on PS4 in a few years, where would that leave the XBO?

That said, regardless of resolution, Dead Rising 3 looks like the most interesting launch exclusive by far. Not nearly enough to get me to consider an XBO, but I can foresee Xboners having a lot of fun with this game :)

Comment all you want, just don't make yourself look ridiculous putting down people that are more looking forward to games and not a resolution. That's the issue people have here. For me, personally, I take the money out of the picture because I can afford to. So for me I'm strictly looking at the games that I want to play and Xbox One has plenty exclusives for launch. Simple as that. Not... "who put my this 720 creamer in my 1080p coffee" crap.

This is something I would expect to see in an interview about the original Dead Rising. This is not next gen...... yet.

PS4 doesn't have a single 720p title so far. Everything is 1080p except for BF4 which is 900p.

What is your point? He did not say that all people who don't buy an Xbox at launch will consider buying one later.

Logic, how does it work.

If you want to play this game and you think it is worth the price, then you should absolutely get it - because you won't be able to play this on any other platform. In my opinion this topic here isn't necessarily about the game "Dead Rising 3", at least not the gameplay part, but about the technical aspect, the capabilities of the Xbox One and what this means for the future and other titles, especially multiplatform titles. I don't think those two things are necessarily connected, I could be looking forward to an exclusive game but still be upset about the poor technical side of the game / console. But some people here seem to think that because it's a fun game people should not criticise the low resolution or weak Xbox hardware. I don't really understand this line of thinking.

Good thing fun is not generation exclusive. But the game is still a clear step above what could be done on the 360 when you take into account the open world, all of the zombies, the little effects and still coming away looking as good as it does at 720p. I can clearly spot that it is running on better hardware.

Anyway, all that is beside the point. It is a fucking launch game that started on the 360, man. It only goes up from here. If games like Ryse are any indication, I think we will be just fine going forward.

I don't really understand this argument here. If DR3 has been an Xbox 360 game, shouldn't it run better than 720p/30fps? The argument would make a lot more sense if we were criticising bad textures or low poly models, missing details and such. But when we are criticising the resolution and framerate, the remark that development started on Xbox 360 isn't comforting at all.

Deep Down is 720p.
I don't think it actually is, though. That was only suggested based on some of the shots that were made available but Japanese companies are notorious for sending out low resolution shots. I bet it won't be 720p.

They also released a 1080p capture of the gameplay video, AFAIK.

Enjoy this gif instead....

Maybe a higher resolution would just show ... too much.

Who's doing the OT for the XBO? We should be able to have decent conversations without trolls or idiots when it goes up.

I suppose I don't see the resolution and 30fps as a hindrance to what looks like a fun game that is still clearly running on better hardware and looks more than acceptable for a launch title. But I tend to play games for fun and also take comfort in the fact that I know we will see much better results as the systems mature. Like we always do.

But by all means, enjoy your 'resolution gate' arguments. Both systems are going to have some great games and I am going to enjoy seeing them launch off a new generation, while looking forward to eventually owning them both for the fun they will offer. To hell with all this 'I refuse to play games that are not running in 1080p' noise.

Really now? I thought official threads are not only for uncritical fans (or what is "without trolls and idiots" supposed to mean?).

It should be for people who bought the game to discuss, not drive by troll posts, to tell us they won't buy the game/console when the've told us that already other times in other threads. You know exactly what I mean too.

I was just playing SOD the other night; I absolutely love that game. I think Undead Labs could do wonders with their next title on XBox One.

I would agree but the game is not that great looking on PC. I think sod wins out on gameplay now but gets exposed on the next game.

It was rendering at least some parts of its framebuffer at 720p at one point in time when some of the footage released was recorded. That's the only thing we can say for certain.

This might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever read here. I support good games, period.

If you really mean what you're saying then I hope you aren't gaming on anything other than a beastly PC.

I'll reply to this one because it was the last...

Ridiculous why?

You don't think it's fair to expect both high quality gameplay /and/ performance from a next gen console? When we've been getting this kind of overall quality for years on pc?

It's cool you're happy with last gen performance, it is, but the fact that you think it's ridiculous to expect more is very strange.

Some of the replies in this thread are very confusing...

Already been said, but at least personally, 1080p wasn't the first thing I thought when it came to next gen. Not even 60fps. Bigger environments, more effects, better lighting, smarter AI ...all things that came up first.

Sure comparatively I guess the situation looks bad, but it can't be the end all of conversations. At least with these exclusive titles.

Not sure who crowned 1080p/60fps as the standard.

It's ridiculous to say customers are terrible for supporting games that they like, just because of the resolution. Seriously, think about that for a second.

Anyways I'm fairly bummed it's a bit low res more bummed about the framerate but to be expected

I'll still enjoy this game when I get an XB1 eventually and consider it a good looking launch title if a bit lackluster in res and framerate department.

There is still a fine reason to buy the XB1 if you like the launch lineup, I'm worried something worse is coming though but I'm sure I'm paranoid and all that. Cboats thing didn't help

Lets all just get pumped for launch :)

IT's the same as gamers buying CoD year after year, supporting the lack of innovation and re-release of the same game with minor updates and poor ports to PC...

You support bad practise and bad practise continues.

Nothing ridiculous about not wanting that to happen.

I don't think you're ever going to see 60 fps become standard on consoles.

Xbox one games have massively improved shaders, draw distances, scene complexity, lighting, shadows, animations, physics, reflections, character models, poly counts, textures, and a bunch of other things. But some of them run at 720p instead of 1080p? Pack it up Microsoft. The xbox one might as well be a 360.

Exactly! If people can't see the improvements maybe they should stick to Candy Crush! Lol

I agree that people are hyperbolizing (heh, that's a Bush-ism if I've ever seen one) the power, but can you honestly say you're not a little disappointed? I know I am, and I loved my 360 (until the Kinect came out and MS stupid making games). I was really hoping for 1080p this gen (which is why I bought an enormous plasma), and it seems that MS didn't make that happen.

It's nice that XB1 games will look good. But they SHOULD look better, especially at the price the machine is selling at.

Microsoft losing market share and software attach rates this gen is going to hurt them abd hopefully makes them more humble going forward.

Now to blame the devs working on this console as bad practise just does not make sense they are doing all they can leading up to launch workibg through hardware revisions bad drivers and non mature software.

I'm sure if they had the time and team they would have done their best to make it 900p or 1080p if it was possible given the constraints.

Now cod ghosts is different they appear to be fucking everyone over including high end pc owners that is something you don't support.

Imo at least.

Well sure. Higher resolutions are always preferred. But xbox one games are still a huge step above last gen. And I find the ways that people try to deny that incredibly funny.

Seriously, going by what some people have said, Microsoft should have just released a system that plays 360 games in 1080p.
