Dead Space demo coming this week to PS3/360

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but now I see it as a great game with great production and no fun......

The demo is really, truly NOT indicative of the game as a whole. I literally played through this exact segment last night and had a much different experience. I'm not really sure what EA was thinking with this demo...perhaps they plan on releasing other demos for Dead Space (this one has a subtitle so...)

Wooooow I want this game now for sure. The creepy atmosphere drew me in instantly..
and the ending of the demo shocked the crap outta me.. wow.
I have to get this now!
For some reason, the first time I played it through, I beat the demo, managing to only get hit once.. the next five or so times, I couldn't beat it! I died repeatedly, then I managed to beat it again. Weird..

strange/short demo. aiming for limbs for kills=lame. my favorite thing about RE4 is headshotting enemies.

It's good to finally play the game I hear so much about. I liked it too hopefully soon my blockbuster will get it or it goes on sale for $40.

Played the demo for a bit, totally unimpressed. The way in which you interact with the environment and go about attacking sucks. This game is probably much better on PC.

I'll pass, even if it's $30 on black friday. :P

Mirror's Edge it is.

So there is nothing like this in the game right? The section really is a bit frustrating in the demo. I got to the second wave and got killed when I tried to change my weapon even after running to the other side of the room...

I just want to say that I bought the game a couple of days ago, and after a few hours of play I can safely say that this is among my top 3 favorite games this year so far .

I don't care much about stressfull fighting, so I set it on easy, and now the difficulty level is perfect for exploring and sucking in the environment and atmosphere. Best sci-fi horror experience since System Shock 2 for me.

Wow, EA would have been better off not releasing a demo at all if this is what they're going to throw out. It's like the devs wanted to discourage people from buying it.

I DLed the PS3 version just to see how it turned out, and it is a great looking port. I think the framerate drops a little when things get hectic (didn't do this on 360) but overall, the game looks damn great on the PStriple.

Oh and :lol @ people basing their opinion of this game on this short demo. Your loss.

from what i read, it looks like the demo was hastily put together. it's no where close to what the RETAIL game is like. they should've simply included the opening sequence/objective cuz i bet that would've hooked you guys instantly.

go rent the game instead or watch some gameplay videos online. you'll see the difference.

For the vast majority of the game, no. There are a few set pieces with a bunch of monsters around but even those feel better than this demo.

The PC version is great with a pad, but the keyboard/mouse controls are absolutely awful.

Those little fuckin' critters keep killing me, over and over. What am I missing?

The ones coming from the dead fat guy? Kill it by shooting of the arms and they wont come out.

There is maybe five rooms in the whole game that has that many enemies. Thats the finale of a pretty long level. But I agree that its a bad choise. When reaching that far in the game you already know the controls and more importantly the weakpoints of the enemies you are facing.

Is the kinesis module in the demo? Most of the enemies could be killed by throwing the gas cannisters at them. There are several in that room atleast in the full game. I just saw a video on youtube of the demo section.

yea, kinda boggles the mind that they would have a demo for sections of the game that are so rare. and i'm curious if the demo let's you use stasis.

After reading comments by those who own the game, it sounds to me like a bunch of suits at EA made the final decision on what to include in the demo.

This is true, I felt the same about lost planet also, loved playing it on the PC but it was awful with the mouse and keyboard.

I implore everyone who hated the demo to at least rent the game. Its fucking Event Horizon meets Resident Evil 4 with a dash of Silent Hill. MMM Delicious.

yea...

EA: "Let's make this all shooterish cuz that's what people want!"
Dev: "But it's not like that..."
EA: "Who cares? You got guns right? And there's monsters right?"
Dev: "But..."
EA "They'll eat it up! Now DO IT!"
Dev: "Yes sir..."

I am not going to make a comment on the accuracy of LiK's story; a similar conversation may or may not have happened.

So.... that conversation did take place :p

I was a bit worried when I saw that it was called the "Dismemberment Demo". I'm pretty sure there is a bit more to the game than blowing the limbs off space zombies, but from the demos (and some of the featurettes) you could be forgiving for not knowing that was the case.

EA still has a bit to learn about putting their faith in renegade teams, it would seem.

The section of the demo is from chapter 3 I believe. It's too short, probably the shortest demo I've played yet.

At least it has an interesting ending.

Have you tried the Silent Hill 3 demo for PC?

It's seriously like 2gb but the demo consists of two rooms.

Those not liking the demo really need to try the real game out. Dead Space was the best single player experience I had all year next to Metal Gear Solid.

Thanks! I was about to ask this about the demo. I know from reading people's experiences with the game, the full game has to be better than the demo. I downloaded the demo off PSN last night and I gotta say, the graphics are top notch! This game looks amazing. One thing I think the demo didn't get across too well is how to play the game. I know the first loading screen shows the controller layout and what buttons do what, but I wanted to access that screen again while I was playing but I couldn't get to it. I was trying to quick heal but I couldn't figure out how to do it quickly without going to my inventory screen. But I'm very interested in picking this game up.
