I honestly can't fathom how people over the age of 13 can be excited for this

Believe it or not there are some adults out there that are entertained by over the top personalities. Regardless of the jokes.

I'm going to wait a while before I see this one. All the trailers look like complete ass to me, and Ryan Reynolds is a shit actor. Going to wait and see more reviews on this one.

Sounds better than I expected. Trailers (unavoidably) make him feel like his character from Blade: Trinity, and that wasn't annoying at all.

So I will give it the benefit of the doubt.

Oh yes, hype rising. I will see it at least twice this week and I'm pumped! These seemingly good reviews bode well.

Time to go see how much my 9.2 CGC New Mutants 98 is doing on ebay...
Just getting 1 of my 5 copies graded cost me more than what i paid for 4 of them.

Insane how popular he's become.

"small scale"?
LoL

As in the movie isn't about anything

It's not about stopping a country from being destroyed or stopping an alien invasion or even stopping some nasty gas from being spread through a city.

It's just well personal.

We've increasingly seen the scale of comic movies increase and them become more spectacle. This doesn't. Not necessarily a flaw, but it doesn't go for big, over the top action

Also and more spoilers about fights

The movie really has three major settings. There's the bridge which is like the first half. The test facility and the climax on the downed ship.

Still a weird thing to knock a movie for. You don't knock it for its size, you knock it for not doing what it was trying to do.

It's why Faraci is still giving it a thumbs up while sneering at it: He may not appreciate what it set out to do, but he recognizes that "Deadpool" succeeds at that more than it doesn't.

A criticism that reads "Hey, I liked it. Shoulda been bigger, though" seems weird. But then again: IGN

Yeah, if reviews go down that path of criticizing it for what it should be, not what its trying to be, then movies would have to be generic garbage to get good reviews

I loooooooved Fury Road, but just because a movie has a multitude of adoring critics and almost universal audience approval doesn't mean it's good.

A few random shitty movies that won Best Picture:

Titanic
Shakespeare in Love
Crash
Chicago

None of those films received universal praise from both critics and movie goers. They were divisive. I'm not saying it's wrong to dislike Mad Max, but to say it 'baffling' that it's enjoyed by basically everyone says more about the person saying the statement than anyone else.

This is what should happen when you don't have the merch rights - just make a fun R rated movie instead, so you look like HBO while everyone else looks like network TV

Please make enough bank for a Cable sequel

I tend to believe people dislike Devin Faraci because, like reading his review here, people see themselves in there. But yes, none of the clips or trailers I've seen have made me think I wanted to see this film. The audience they're aiming at seems like the same people sharing 9GAG reposts and a weird overlap with the 'rawr means I love you in dinosaur' crowd.

All of my Facebook friends really dig the emoji poster, though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Man, sometimes neogaf is so grumpy. nofunallowed.jpg

Even sitting at 100%, some are still pissed at the movie lol
There are always going to be people who hate this movie, even if it's amazing. Deadpool is a very "You either love him or hate him." character.

I am glad the movie is being well received so far. I will see it when it comes out but will walk out disappointed because I'm going to have to wait even longer to see the uncut version.

My 52 year old mum wants me to take her and dad to Deadpool for her birthday...

I'm assuming they've seen the trailers?

I'm kind of interested in how the public perceives these movies. The top critic listed on RT says this in his opening statement

Juggling blissful self-awareness and R-rated violence, this funny, bloody comedy is the Marvel Universe’s biggest breath of fresh air since “Guardians of the Galaxy”

So I wonder if they're making a distinction between Fox's and Disney's movies, or even WB.

I could see a potential backlash from family friendly groups if they confuse this with a Disney movie. Would make a funny news story.

You'd have to be pretty damn stupid to think R18 and family fun go together. The vast majority probably don't even know Disney owns Marvel either
