Deadpool comics get the same response. Quite often it's a love it or hate it title. It's like South Park. Some people think it's hilarious. Some just don't like that type of crude humor.

If somebody goes to this not knowing Deadpool, there's going to be some extreme negative opinions along with those who think it's a good laugh.

I hated it :(

[Review] Deadpool

As Hollywood struggles to reinvent their array of superheroes with each iteration, it’s no surprise that audiences would become hungry for something off the beaten path. While it’s not the first post-modern comic-book adaptation, Deadpool is billed as ushering in a new direction: a fan-spurred, self-aware tentpole that’s R-rated to its core, featuring a wise-ass character (don’t call him a superhero) who’s fully cognizant of his outsider status in both the world he inhabits and Hollywood’s comic-book sandbox writ large. Despite the excess of fourth-wall-breaking continually reminding us of both, Tim Miller‘s directorial debut ultimately ends up feeling like another similarly structured, monotonous origin story, albeit with a more vulgar veneer.

I can see where condescension can be irritating, but calling out someone for being condescending doesn't really discredit what they're saying. I agree that stupid movies can be enjoyable and even excellent, but if you just shut down conversion at "you're pretentious!", then there's no dialogue regarding why Deadpool low brow humor is more worthwhile than Adam Sandler low brow humor (just for example).

For me personally it's because Deadpool is a badass antihero that's based off of a fantasy. He acts like this in the comics I have read, therefore it doesn't make me cringe as bad as Adam Sandler's low bro humor when his characters are based on realistic expectations. The low brow humor isn't the only reason to like or dislike this movie, the action and violence looks pretty damn sweet.

Plus Adam Sandler makes some shitty movies and this seems like it's actually at least decent.

Wow complaining about Deadpool movie being juvenile is like conplaining about Tarantino movievbeing bloody.
From what i read so far its deapool movie with everything proper deadpool movie should have. I even read some impressions that the level if silliness is toned down compared to basematerial

I can't wait to see it. It sounds like they did a good job, but there was no guarantee it was going to be good.

I think Deadpool comics have been hit or miss. Sometimes they're hilarious and sometimes they're really bad. It has to be a difficult comic to write because it's not easy to make a comedy superhero comic.

With Deadpool, it's a fine line between funny and stupid.

Finally watched the trailer, NSFW version, yeah you know this is Deadpool. I know one guy who is likely going to do some NSFW stuff in his pants when he see's this. But then he has a flogger with Deadpool on the handle.

The headline is grabbing (as headlines honestly should), but that Feraci review is good. He liked it, but it's not fantastic film-making (which I'm not expecting) and not for everyone, even when it's at its best (which you know, if you know Deadpool.)

Check it out, Ahasverus. You made it on Devin Faraci's Twitter feed.

Looks like I'm being dragged to watch it on thursday. Don't get me wrong, I'd watch it in a heartbeat on Netflix but don't feel the need to watch it on the bigscreen.

lol no way; I'm sure my mother would be proud
not :(
Now whoever was the whistleblower, please raise your hand.
I'm sorry guys, seriously, my strong personal opinion of the man got things out of hand, I didn't meant to. The Expendable review is a negative one I can agree with.

Devin Fartashit. Huehuehuehueh.

I'm ready for deadpool.

Great review. Nicely articulated.

Though, I can't imagine how you handle having comments enabled for them. As an (amateur) reviewer myself (and I use the word, "reviewer" loosely), most of the comments that follow, typically have me wanting to slit my wrists.

Maybe me not being bad at it would help, but I'd rather a more practical solution, and keep the comments off (or moderated).

I don't think anyone should have ever really expected anything groundbreaking with this movie. I haven't seen it yet, but looking at the material that is out there, it does fall under the same path as Kick Ass or any of those other "anti-hero" comic book movies, perhaps without the clever nuances of Kick Ass. It does look juvenile, and seems to hit all of the low comedic notes with heavy punctuation. The movie looks like it is targeting one specific audience, and it may hit its mark with them. But this doesn't seem like a "me too" movie.

But I am only speculating. I am planning on seeing Deadpool this week, so I will post my own thoughts later.

tbf Devin is an ass
and the Ultron dig was on spot
.

The review is positive though.

Aside from a few slow-motion flourishes, most scenes are captured in bland medium shots with cinematography not out of place on Netflix’s Marvel shows.

*"Wrong" buzzer sound*

Anything approaching the Daredevil hallway scene in this would be surprising.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's not really the cinematography that is that impressive in that scene, it is the choreography and timing. The camera is pretty much still for most of it, right?

Granted, I haven't watched that scene since the show came out, but all I remember is a nearly static camera while Daredevil beats up a bunch of dudes.

I hate it when a film I'm looking forward to gets great reviews, it makes the wait for the Blu-ray even more unbearable!

The budget on this was relatively low wasn't it?

The movie looks like it's trying so hard to be funny. It might well be that funny, but it's definitely trying very hard to be.

it is impressive because it's a single shot scene.
