Just got a text from a friend with decent connections.

Fangoria shutdown rumors. Staff change and web shut down.

What?

So I went to www.fangoria.com and saw this:

Fangoria.com is currently being revamped.
We appreciate your patience and continued loyalty as we work on bringing you a new and enhanced user experience from America's longest running horror magazine. In the meantime, please visit our temporary presence to see all the latest in horror news. See you soon.

Doesn't sound so grim.

Did some google searching and came up with this article written by former Director of New Media Development for Fango. He paints a bleak picture of their business practices. Worth a read.

As of now, I am not convinced Fango's failure is a done deal, but I am anxious for more concrete news.

Although I love other magazines like Rue Morgue and Horror Hound, the idea of a Fango-less world saddens me a bit. I've been a fan for 25 years.

Should probably buy a t-shirt.

well damnit. Not that there isn't tons of horror-enthusiast places to get news nowadays, but losing Fangoria would still suck mightily.

"new and enhanced user experience" should set off alarm bells.

I haven't read it for years, not since I last enjoyed horror movies I guess, but damn. It's a cultural institution.

I've never heard of Fangoria, but reading about it, it kind of makes me sad, because it seems like another niche magazine disappearing or changing.

I don't know why, but I thought you were 19 or 20 years old or something...

As a former subscriber of over 10 years, I didn't even know they were still around. Not a knock on Fangoria, just a comment on how much presence print media seems to have in most people's lives these days. I hope they can continue as a web magazine.

Really? I'd think my vocabulary and punctuation might give it away. Not to mention the references to events before 1990.

For the record, I am in my mid-30s.

I would have guessed mid-30's if it makes you feel better. Than again, I'm 33, so maybe it's easier to spot people in your own age-bracket.
