Either way man, that was 7 years ago. He's had a lot of press conferences in 14 years. For the most part he talks like a robot.
Doesn't matter. Ref should have flagged his ass regardless, because anyone else would get flagged in that situation. Instead he stood there and took it like a bumbling dad trying to calm his 2-year-old down.
The guy's ability was historically ignored and questioned his whole life.
We have a long way to go before we can match up with the Pats when it comes to breaking the rules. I'll give you guys the victory there.
It is arrogant. All he had to do was say, "If 17 points is enough to win the game, I'd be happy to score 17", but he put his ass out there by scoffing at the notion. Then he couldn't cash the check his mouth wrote. If they score 50 and blow the Giants out of the water, it's not a big deal, but they didn't.
I will need evidence on the fans too. Reality is not an opinion.
I need to see that Patriots fans are more bigoted than other fans. If they are, that is a good reason to dislike those individuals... the team? eh..
I'm trying to search for info. I'm not sure it is out there , but it might exist.
Again, I need evidence to validate your arrogance claim. You keep repeating the one quote over an over. Seems like you don't have much else....
Similarly I can't take your word for it for the racist claim. Your brain has shown severe issues with objectivity so... need data.

Flagged for complaining that a 15 yrd "Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalty penalty wasn't called? OK

Little bit of dismissal, little bit of denial, little bit of way too invested in this.
It's time to stop posting about this, take a couple steps back.
I guess what i am asking for is explicit confirmation that the balls were checked for pressure, and perhaps a report of what that pressure was, and not a cursory inspection - the NBC report stated that many times the referees would just visually inspect the balls and not verify pressure.

Have fun! But that's only part of the puzzle. You keep trying to disprove one part of the reason why I dislike them, but you're missing the point. Any one of those on their own wouldn't be worth hating so much. But everything put together? That's different.
Also, I'm not claiming Boston is the only racist city, because I'm positive someone will try and pull that card.
I don't need much else, to be honest, that press conference, throwing his tantrums when he doesn't get his way, and running up the score that year are all I need.
They asked why I think he's arrogant, and that's why. Not my problem if the answer doesn't satisfy them.
Irrelevant. Completely irrelevant. Yes, if he got kneed or whatever the refs should have thrown that flag. But getting up in the refs face and screaming should also be a flag, and it is - unless you're Tom Brady.
I'm just answering the questions being asked of me. Again, you not liking the answer doesn't make it less valid, especially when it comes to something as subjective and nebulous as "Why do you hate this team?"
The gawker piece while interesting, is not really hard data, but to be fair, I'll let it slide because it is at least 'something' that could amount to a reason to dislike the city.
You are not getting it on the rest of the points though. Invalid reason + invalid reason + invalid reason =/= Valid reason!
You have given us reasons behind your perspective which while enlightening as to how your brain works, don't really carry enough weight to justify your perspective to others. It has basically boiled down to 'because I think so'.
It seems we have exhausted this issue, so we can probably move on...

This is the heart of our disconnect. You think the reasons are invalid. I do not.
I'm not trying to justify it to anyone. You wanted to know why I thought that way, and I told you.
Well in the context of deflate gate, it means you are hella biased so its silly to see you keep fighting this "fight".
In the context of why you hate the Pats? I misquoted you and I am every so sorry. You keep hating whoever you like!
And like I said, you gave your reasons and thanks for that. You also acknowledge that they might not be justifiable to others which is fine. We agree on that.
Whether the reasons are valid in an objective sense is not a matter of opinion though. So while there might be valid reasons, you have not presented them, which like I said would not be trivial, so it is fine. At the very least you have to understand why they are not particularly convincing.
Haha, I'm not keeping up any fight. I'm just posting because I find the conversation interesting. It's not that serious.
For one thing, this isn't science, law, or investigative journalism, it's sports fandom - objectivity is not necessary.
As for the rest of the post:
You asked why I thought Boston had some racism issues, so I posted race-related incidents that happened in Boston.
You asked why I thought Brady was arrogant (a subjective thing itself, honestly), so I posted an example of him being arrogant.
You asked why I thought Brady threw temper tantrums, and I posted 3 .gifs of him throwing temper tantrums.
I honestly don't know what else you're looking for at this point.

I agree objectivity is not 'necessary' but your initial stance was that there were valid reasons to your attitudes. It is ok if you don't have any. Totally cool.
I left the race-related article silde because at the very least it was an article so you made an effort there. Totally cool.
The gifs though... as pointed out many many times. They are not particularly strong as evidence because they are isolated incidents so it is not clear what the big picture is. If you hate tom brady because of those specific incidents, then it is fine though. We can move on.
Jesus christ I thought my Denver hate was irrational. This is some next level shit right here.
I've seen that gawker article posted here before. It's honestly a terrible article with barely anything of substance relative to modern day Boston. The only valid examples in that article are related to Bill Russell, the Red Sox, and the bus riots...all of which occurred 35+ years agos. Boston is nothing like that anymore in the majority of the city.
The Bruins examples were backtracked and shown to not even be by Boston residents, lol. Such a silly, terrible article.
I wouldn't even give him credit for that article either. Anyone who posts that article clearly has little experience with the area anyway and knows relatively nothing about it.
This story just keeps on giving
I have lived in Boston and would disagree with the article as well. That said, I really don't know which team has the most racist fans. I'd be legitimately curious.
Gave him credit for trying to post something a bit less silly than a gif. hahaha.

They're strong enough for me, and a Pats fan telling me they think otherwise isn't going to change my opinion - that's all I'm saying. All my reasons are valid to me, and a Pats fan thinking otherwise is not going to change my mind on that.
I dunno, seems fine to me. A lot less reasons to hate the Broncos from my point of view.

He also found players like Al Jefferson who wonder what all the fuss is about.
cdyhybrid, I really don't know what you are arguing about now, that Boston is racist, every US city has a history of racism to them, have you every been to the south?
From your article:
I've explained this multiple times.
I said that Boston's past incidents (which I outright stated are not unique to that city) COMBINED with everything else is why I hate them more than other sports cities.
Then a bunch of people tried to discredit the various reasons I listed - which I disagreed with, and explained why. So that's why we've been going back and forth.
Fair enough.
I don't think i have ever hated a city, i dislike some cities, like LA, but has more to do with traffic, then the people and sports teams.
little bit of way too invested in this.

I don't hate the city in the sense of a piece of land/buildings/etc. I hate it as a hub of sports.

you jelly that Boston has been so successful the past decade?
WTF? This isn't even a study or proper methodology. What sensationalist crap.
So it boils down to you being jealous of them. Got it. You're just like every other irrational salt-filled sports fan in the world.
You posted it cuz you hate Boston.
I love being a Boston Sports fan, especially recently.
Awesome Celtics History and a championship in 2008 after being DFL.
Red Sox World Series 2004, 2007, 2013
Patriots generally rocking the house, Superbowls wins 2001, 2004, 2005, appearances 2008, 2012, 2015
Even the Bruins won in 2011
Can't complain really. I don't understand why anyone could hate the Boston sports scene other than jealously. ;P
True dat. Winningest city of the current millennia.I love being a Boston Sports fan, especially recently.

Don't forget the Revolution having been the Jim Kelly Buffalo Bills of MLS.
I just want to point out that just because there are players coming out saying that ball pressure tampering is common, doesn't make it okay.
Remember all those players that said bounties were fairly common and that nothing was wrong with them during the Bountygate scandal? Didn't stop the league from taking action.
I agree.
If the balls were under they should be punished.
If the balls were under on purpose but refs checked them an okayed them, they should be punished a bit more.
If the balls were presented as ok and then deflated, they should be punished even more.
For now it seems like it is either the first or second scenarios, which are not as bad as the third one. If it is prevalent, league should take steps to fix it.
And this is why I hate Boston. Their fans cannot comprehend the fact that there are reasons to dislike something other than jealousy.
I think they should change the rule regardless. It was silly in the first place. Have the league provide all the balls. I think they can afford it.
nope the dislike of Boston and area is the terrible fans in the NFL and nhl.Yeah yeah your hatred of a city is for totally rational reasons, I'm sure. Much like the Republicans hatred for France.
I don't hate all of Boston teams but the Patriots are a team that constantly cheats and has a legacy that will be tainted by the cheating. The bruins are a bunch of goons and have nothing good to say about them and the fans are pretty bad as well.I love being a Boston Sports fan, especially recently.
