I'm not one of those who finds it amusing to hate on Dyack and SK, but that's some serious hyperbole in the first bolded part. :lol

The word you wanted to say was "hubris." It took me like half a fucking hour to remember that after "hyperbole" got stuck in my head, and it's all Denis Dyack's fault.

Still got banned.

But why? That's hilarious.

Given all you've said, how do you want Too Human to be remembered - as a great videogame or for its message?

and which would he rather have as a pet, a unicorn or a chupacabra? the more relevant question is 'do you want too human to be remembered as a bad game or a public relations fiasco'

This guy is so full of his own bullshit and ego, it's just tragic.

But I'm quickly moving past pity to the "lol @ Dyack" phase. Quickly.

After hearing Dyack on the Full Moon Show nothing, nothing, will surprise me coming out of that mans mouth.

He's lost touch with... everyone, perhaps.

Man, after reading the quotes, I think I'll have to pick this game up when Criterion releases it 20 years from now.

But it'll be like three times the price. At least the packaging will be stellar, I guess.

He wants it to be remembered for a message? This is one part where I think quite a few game makers are losing the plot nowadays, they forget that they're making a video game instead of an artistic feat. Sounds like Dyack should have made this a movie.

Everyone has low points so Dyack should just stop making things worse by constantly looking for ridiculous excuses and move on to his next project. Hopefully it'll be managed better and Dyack learns something from this.

I sometimes wish Dennis would quit with all the parables, analogies, and ridiculous attempts at educating everyone he meets. Letting the product speak for itself, whether it is good or bad, intelligent or passe, is the noble thing to do.

Thats right, when people dont' like what you do, just dismiss them as being too stupid to appreciate its genius. Billy Corgan and Tom Yorke would be proud.

...Yeah, pretty much.

Actually, thinking about it more, I think he really does get it.

I think he needs to appeal to some weird sense of superiority in the hopes of convincing MS to continue to bankroll his ego trip. He has to, even in the face of the game's feedback. He no longer really cares about convincing those who 'just don't get it' (i.e. most people by the looks of it). It's about his publisher relationships now and convincing them of some nebulous intangible higher-brow merit. Afterall, MS, if you don't get it, you're stupid and a hater! You're not that, are you?

I wonder if MS will fall for it.

That is actually an excellent parallel to Billy Corgan.

I didn't mean anything sinister, I care very little for Too Human, below average game - move on.

The problem with Dyack is that he seems to consider himself more than an entertainer or story teller (both of while he fails at) and then tries to bash everyone who doesn't grasp his poorly realised concepts. Actions speak louder than words, and all Dyack seems to do is fellate himself in the gaming media while ignoring any criticism of his work, he's exactly the sort of person the industry doesn't need, all mouth no trousers cry babies.

It's so innovative people just can't handle it... wow, if that isn't crazy talk I don't know what is, actually yes I do almost everything Dyack says.

I thought he said "the game will speak for itself"? Now he's trying to silence it because it's telling everyone he's over the hill? Free the game!

I wish there's ROTFL emoticon for a moment like this but this will have to do:

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Its a classical case of denial.

that first bolded quote was created for facepalm.gif

I honestly don't understand this man anymore. I was rooting for him, but I just can't anymore.

I don't know if this is meant as a joke, but I seriously believe this is actually the case.

As someone who actually enjoyed the demo to some extent, I find this level of hyperbole confusing and a little frightening.
The game is PSO/Marvel UA (I've never played Diablo to compare) with a fresh coat of paint.

I really hope Denis takes the opportunity to take some of the criticisms to heart, especially concerning the animation, number of players, and item management. Even if he swears by the control scheme for the sequels, these superficial things need to be addressed if he wants the game to score with critics.

It's like the kings new clothes all over again.

It's ironic, it just shows that human nature of if you don't understand something, you immediately attack it. It's pretty interesting in that regard.

Behold.

A philosopher of philosophers.

All of this from one bad decision. "To can or not to can?" (the game in it early state.) That was the question.

Who knows what games could've been made all this time Dyack sunked keeping this zombie-game going.

Dyack to the majority of his player base:

"This isn't for you, you just don't understand it!"

(Dyack continues to listen to Emo music and write poems about how he is better than anyone.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, and someone verbally impale me if I'm overstepping my lines of criticism, but I just don't see the innovation to warrant those words.

I could understand those words coming from the creators of a title like FLOW, Rez, or MAYBE LBP. Too Human is a Diablo clone at heart with a few twists and spins. I don't see any innovation (not to say it doesn't innovate) that goes beyond the realm of verbal critiquing.

Thats just it. I was rooting for the game to do well because I was convinced he'd understand a lot of the gripes people have with it. Plus the potential it has with correcting the many flaws is just a shame. However if he's taking to attitude of ''My vision is just great and I won't change it'' even through all that, he's even more deluded than I thought. I'm almost utterly bewildered now.

Someone should make a gif that starts with dyack standing next to the cover of his game, saying, "the game will speak for itself". The cover then tries to say something, and he grabs it. The cover struggles valiantly, but dies of asphyxiation. Then Dyack says, "it was too innovative for its own good" or something.
