Denis Villeneuve's James Bond auditions have officially started

The hunt for the next James Bond has officially kicked off.

''Amazon MGM Studios started auditioning actors for the part of 007 in the past few weeks. With the studio enlisting the help of Nina Gold to find the man with the suaveness and danger necessary to replace Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's super-spy.''

''The search for the next James Bond is underway," Amazon MGM Studios said in a statement. "While we don't plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we're excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.''

''Casting director Nina Gold says the next James Bond actor she's looking for must "ooze sex appeal."He should also "be young enough to play him in three or four, or more pictures."

Nearly every single person posted in this thread is going to be too old of a casting choice.

They need to star in at least 3 Bond movies which means a decade of work, minimum.

holy shit, could you imagine?
I'd rather not lol.

But I think I've got some faith in Denis? I just can't think of any modern actors off the top of my head who're either British, Irish or Australian who could pull it off. So they should probably go with someone pretty much unknown, who's hopefully much more Sean Connery and less Tom Holland lol

e: oh, apart from Henry Cavill. He'd make a good James Bond imo.

I think they should go the route Tarantino suggested, doing a reboot that actually follows the original books, set during the era they were written in, and which doesn't just use the name of them.

Too old to play a young James Bond but not too old to play James Bond

Maybe it could work. But the casting director herself said they want someone young.

They want someone who will play the role for 15 years like Craig. While Idris looks good for his age, I just don't think they are looking for someone who would then be playing the role until late into their 60's

At the same time, though, I'd hope they don't get someone who looks too young, like in his twenties. Sean Connery was 32, for instance, but he looked more mature than most men. That should be the earliest age, regardless though.

Matt Berry as James Bond is the only choice that just might work. He is the personification of English class.

There is no such things as a "young James Bond". He STARTS in MI:6 as a Naval Commander, a rank you gotta be in your mid-30's to reasonably attain. So regardless of the actirs age, Bond himself is NEVER an unseasoned rookie FFS.

He seems to be an unseasoned rookie in the new game… (26yo)

To be fair, there is an entire Young Bond book series. I own it. It's written by the wonderful (sarcasm intended) Charlie Higson, who also penned OHisMSS, which this excerpt posted above is from:

Maybe they'll adapt the new book

Which is actually not a new book, came out for Charles' 'Coronation'. I pre-ordered it since I read all the Bond novels, and the filth and rot in the book starts farrrr earlier than the excerpt above shows, that is just where it peaks out.

The small novel filets Bond, from start to finish. It's gross. Easily the worst Bond anything I had ever read. I was no fan of his Young Bond series, but this was clearly about him pushing (largely) American political gripes into his first shot at real Bond, and he chose to use his book to make a point that was extremely tired, lazy, and on the nose. Also, frankly, not fun at all for about half of the book. There are moments it begins to stretch its legs, but it's small page count keeps it from ever reaching a satisfactory climax, and you know how bad it sucks to build up and not reach the climax, amirite?

Cavill.
Only slightly older than when Craig started, and similar, if not the same as when Brosnan did it.
Sorry but it would not make sense to cast a very well known actor. They need someone fresh (doesnt mean young) and a bit original looking, not a basic handsome actor. It needs to be surprising, and take the franchise in a new direction. Craig was too physical, too muscular, no class.
Bond is a rugged spy, not a model. And not a brute.
