what you need is to look solely for a deodorant, and not an antiperspirant. the latter are responsible for the chalky, caked residue on your shirts and armpit hair. just go for a traditional spray on deodorant - the strong fragrance of most will usually cover you up well for most of the day.
you could alternatively purchase some of those all natural salt-water antiperspirants that leave zero residue. i've used them for about a year and i think they work. i don't know really. i'm just glad i ditched the sticks/gels and have smooth armpits again.
