Destiny Competitive Multiplayer Gameplay (6 vs 6 players)

Sorry if it's been asked a hundred times but have they clarified if and how they plan on balancing out PvP for the wide range of levels, weapons, upgrades, etc. that players will have earned in PvE?

Looks competent, but still a massive step back from Halo. I think PVE is going to have to carry this for me.

Ninja (Halo Pro Player) did an impression video on the same Map.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7W7KoeA6_Q

In the vid he says and I'm paraphrasing, "Your weapons matter. You are going to want to make sure you have some green weapons before you jump into PvP. You get weapons doing PvE or missions. Just because you are a better shot than somebody doesn't mean you are going to win the battle. It is an advantage. Your weapons will do more damage... your headshots will do more critical damage..."

Assuming that green is referring to weapon rarity, fuck that.

EDIT: The quick cuts to third person for like half a second to use a super are jarring as hell, why wouldn't they just have you do it in first person?

I just can't get into it. There just isn't enough to it, and the maps lack identity without weapon spawns.
Your basic abilities take too long to charge.
And your supercharged abilities are completely over-powered and make for cheap kills/deaths.
Way too many quick deaths, and you seem to respawn in the same zones too often... So conflicts continue to take place in the same spots over and over.
Also, this is the game I've been most excited about playing, and I'm still very hot and cold on the competitive MP. So definitely some mixed feelings. Coop/campaign is great though. Way more enjoyable then I was expecting.

Everything in competitive just needs a little more life. The speeder bike thing with the lightning guns on it is about the only thing that is really full of energy.

Yeah... that announcer... he needs some energy, lol.

Otherwise looks like it could be fun. Also loving the UI!!
However this game for me will most likely be all co-op. That seems to be the most fun this time.

So far it looks closer to the "he who sees/shoots first wins" style of COD rather than the "rocks/paper/scissors" style of Halo with more drawn-out gunfights. Both have their advantages but I was hoping for a true continuation of Halo 2/3's style more. Looks fine. Does not sound fine - that announcer has to go, so bad and cheap-sounding.

I still don't understand why this game needed competitive multiplayer. The main focus is the MMO-style co-op multiplayer. Focus all of your resources and creativity there instead of tacking on competitive multiplayer.

Both the coop and the competitive are both really well executed. This is not just thrown in there.

Seems kind of stale without special weapons like energy swords scattered around...

Maybe it would be more interesting if everyone wasn't using the lame default rifle.

Watched some pvp on that ninja stream

massive 1-3second delay on hit detection (his friend on skype was talking about how much delay there was and you could see it when the ninja guy was playing, 'double kos' (where both players die due to the delay on the hit detection on both sides) galore

Is this another peer2peer mp game or is it just the same kind of shitty netcode like you find in crysis 2 mp/blacklight retribution

Either way I don't see why anyone would want to play an mp game in those conditions when there are dozens (more like hundreds) of mp shooters that don't lag.

Gotta say, that looks like a lot of fun. Still curious to know how weapon load out will work with a theoretically diverse amount of weaponry, but I assume there's a smart balance there if they remove your level bonuses.

And hey, unpopular opinion time: I like the voice.

Game looks pretty fun to play.

I like the fact that you have to finish a kill instead of shooting your gun once and getting the kill. Most of the time at least...Obviously, up close shotgun kills, rocket kills, sniper head-shots,ect are one shot kills. I like the fact that your penalized for trying to shoot while jetpacking,(Bullets everywhere). That means no bad kids flying straight up and landing every shot while breaking the map. (Halo)

The only thing i'm not liking about the game is how powerful the one vehicle is. (interceptor?), but it seems very op.

I think what might be the saving grace for this game, Pvp wise, is that people will be able to play coop(pve) and get better individually, or as a team, instead of trying the PvP once or twice and not liking it.

Looking forward to trying. Hopefully I get in...

Looks terrible. I don't understand how Bungie can mess it up like this. We have enough shooters like this. With the PvE also looking rather meh, this is definitly a bargain bin game for me.

The multiplayer looks awesome and so does the pve.

For multiplayer it seems like a mix of cod and halo, it's kind of right in the middle and i am digging it.

Gameplay looks alright, but already too played out. Doesn't stand out IMO. The best thing it has going for it as far as I see is "made by Bungie." Not a bad thing necessarily; those devs are great. I just want to see something new in the FPS genre. Also, I think modern FPS games are too slow movement wise.

Have they confirmed whether you can plug keyboard/mouse controls in? Gameplay isn't that bad, I'm eager to try it out in alpha if I get a chance just so I can decide whether to pre-order or not.

I read a good impression by a Halo player on Bungie's forum (click to read) so I'm optimistic.

However, the one absolute deal breaker is the carrying over of progression from your SP/co-op experience. It throws the whole competitive aspect off. Bungie needs to seriously make MP its own bubble, or level the playing field. It's the one thing that bothers me a lot

Looks good , but then I'm not buying it for competitive MP.

It saddens me Bungie are trying new things and all anyone cares about is getting their death match fix ,

I have to test this out for myself before I pass judgement. And, even after playing I won't judge to much because of it being Alpha stage. So glad Bungie confirmed that all who signed up can participate in the Alpha. Can't wait to test out something new/upcoming.

Edit: Oh snap, just noticed after posting I'm no longer a junior member. Feels good man!
