Destiny looks pretty active even when there is a content draught atm

You can't say you like the gun play then ask for removal of AA. AA is part of what makes each weapon feel good and unique.
Not to mention that aim assist is a stat and certain guns have more or less, that can also be tweaked with perks (hidden hand) or specific scopes. It's definitely noticeable.

Whenever I get back into Destiny I have to force myself to stop playing it. It pretty much eats up my gaming life and I don't get to play everything else I want to.

Destiny 2 will probably destroy me.

Not surprising as most people are jumping back in to get ready for the new expansion. My friends list is full of people playing it but the numbers are still a way off from when compared to new content drops.

It was pretty bare bones at release. Lets not get it twisted

yup, game wasn't what it is today

though worth noting the game was considered an unsalvagable dud for awhile. comes to show you can never rush to judgement with online games

The game people love to hate and say is done but the game is amazing especially with the post-launch updates. The release was bare bones like El_Cuco said but the game now has enough content for your casual console gamer.

I restarted the game on ps4 coming to Xbox and it's clear that there aren't many new players. Whenever I've queued up in any of the lower than level 40 strike playlists I end up starting the strike alone.

Similarly, matchmaking in crucible seems to take a good bit longer than I remember from Xbox about a year ago.

I think.there are a lot of active players still, but they are doing very specific activities.

Though the casual console gamer had no problems with the game, and everything since has just been gravy.

The forum goer/a bit more hardcore gamer was the one complaining about lack of content, changes in the story and problematic launch. :p

Yup, bought it at launch and got bored maybe 3 weeks later

Now i bought it again with the Collection and i'm having a blast so far, 3 raids, shitload of strikes, lots of maps, more character builds

And the base gunplay is still as amazing as ever

Still, i'm happy to have paid 60€ for the WHOLE thing, i wouldn't have been as happy if i had to spend double that

It's honestly the only game since Goldeneye that gets me to play FPS PVP, especially coming from the generation of Xbox 360 CoD players.

Yes, you still get the occasional tea baggers in Crucible, but it's a far cry from getting harassed. They constantly tweak weapons for balance (sometimes a bit overboard).

Replaying from scratch on PS4 as a former year one One player was refreshing, so many quests and other things they added. Bounties are no longer as tedious and there are so many more things to level up.

Even Challenge of the Elders was tons of fun for me and my friend, we want to eventually tackle the raid. Think I need to watch a video though.

I don't play it any longer as I found once I did all of the strikes and played most of the story, there was nothing else for me. But one thing's for sure and that it's a superb game with such a solid hook to it.

It's not a surprise, the people who play Destiny like it and the social experience offered by this game is something that other console games dont.

But if you were to believe GAF the game died in 2014.

Tip: Don't believe GAF.

I agree that AA is part of it, but the majority of it is the weapon sound, hit feedback and appearance.

So to be honest, lowering the aim assist a bit (not too much) would only make it better. At this point it is a bit too harsh, enough to actually negatively affect the gameplay.

That.

Just need to be able to turn off aim assist, that shit is too strong.
You actually wouldn't like it if the aim assist was completely off.

Is that a surprise? I mean there was a april update which add some new content and vendor weapon refresh. There is a monthly Iron Banner, weekly PvE heroic strikes/Nightfall/COE/raids and PvP Trials of Osiris to keep players busy every week.

Is it just the aim assist that keeps a lot of people who can't play regular fps playing? Everything around the aim assist and good headshot animations is pretty bad in Destiny. Enemy AI, encounter design, player movement, level design. They're all serviceable at best.
You are so wrong.
Player movement in Destiny is part of what makes the gameplay great, watch any video and you'll see players effortless jumping around the map, ledges and everything...if the player movement was just serviceable no one would do that. The enemy AI design carries over from Halo where you have enemies with multiple behaviours in the mix...you won't find many games that do this in the first place.

The headshot feedback is bad? I don't know where you get that from because everything about blowing a Cabal or Fallen's head or a Hive exploding after a headshot is nothing but satisfying. Then you have the firefly perk that works with headshots specifically. I simply cannot see how anyone can say headshots in Destiny are bad and not satisfying.

As for level design, any game that has something like Vault of Glass automatically becomes top tier in level design.

I just picked it back up about a month ago to get ready for Rise of Iron. It's been awesome and yes the gameplay is king which helps since you'll be playing the same content quite a bit.

I also think the setting and lore is great. Since it takes place in our solar system it's got a blend of the familiar and unfamiliar sci-fi fantasy.

I love Destiny. Right now I hope Destiny 2 is a little friendlier to solo players and offers more matchmaking options when possible.

I'll still be there for Rise of Iron of course. It's going to be fun.

There are 400+ people on my friends list. There hasn't been a day that multiple people on there are not playing it for long periods of time since release. Definitely not the same handful of people either.

The legs of this game have really surprised me.

so No Man's Sky still got a chance right? right?

I bought Destiny at launch and kinda liked it but dropped it after 2 months. I've been wanting to get back into it at this point but it seems so daunting to catch up that it's not worth the effort.

Impressive. I've got hundreds of hours into Destiny but I've barely played since like December. Looking forward to getting back into it in 2 weeks when ROI drops.

Really thinking about getting back into this game...

Anyone know if characters are gonna transfer to Destiny 2, or is it a start fresh?

My Fireteam picked up the game again few weeks ago to prepare for Rise of Iron.
And yes the game is still plenty of fun, love the gunplay.

yeah the numbers should easily jump 10x once RoI drops, especially now that final fantasy 15 is off the table for 2 months.

Its really a fantastic game, I used to play weekly a few hours the entire first year but the steep difficulty curve of the Oryx boss fight just really drained any desire to play, combined with the really annoying upgrade system. Hopefully they made ROI a bit more casual friendly. The PVP game though imo is absolutely fantastic.

The only weird thing coming back will be all the quests sitting in your inventory unfinished, like the crucible quest line and stuff. Best just to abandon it all now and come in with a clean slate? I'm not gonna bother with that Y2 achievement stuff, after a month or two no one wears any of that stuff anyways.

This is it, and the search for different rolls. I am still missing two weapon exotics. I was just talking to my friends about RoI and I remarked how despite all the various issues, we still play it. It just play so good and there is enough variety to keep it interesting.

Now with all that, I think Destiny 2 really needs to go all out and call me crazy but I feel the game is perfectly suited for a more open world approach. Grabbing quests and bounties (not the patrol bounties) while on patrol from citizens in the Last City. I have so many ideas in my head.

I agree 100%

I'm still on Destiny very frequently. Since launch, I have about 800+ hours on Xbox One and around 1200 hours on PS4 (I love the game so much I bought it twice). It's my most played game ever.

Sometimes I wish Bungie would just contact me just like how 343i got some of the pros involved to improve Halo 5's multiplayer. I know they're incredible at what they do, but Jesus do I have some amazing ideas for both PVE and PVP. I've literally wrote down numerous and realistic features/things that would make the sequel one of the greatest of all time. So much potential.

Most crucible is sweaty, at least it has been while trying to do S H A X X J A M Z

Yeah, it kills me at times. With that SBMM, regular crucible feels sweaty as hell. I enjoy the challenge, but some days, I just want a casual game, it feels like I've gotta play super-serious every match at time to pull a win.

Still one of my favorite shooters this gen.

Very happy to hear it's still doing so well. Like many others have said, its core shooting mechanics are simply the best.

I think I "retired" from Destiny 1 a few months ago and I doubt Rise of Iron will bring me back in, but i'm there day one for Destiny 2 and I'm really hopeful that many of the mistakes of Destiny 1 will be fixed now that they have a better idea of what the community wants.

Yeah I'd love to be able to use my sparrow in the Last City and cruise around talking to NPCs. That'd be dope.

I have beyond, injustice, need for speed, two Zelda games i bought over the summer begging me to play them but all I want to do is play Destiny.
I love what they did with the April update. Constant progression. Love the challenge modes. Running old raids in 30 mints has its own charm and i finally got my vex the other day.

Still those are crazy numbers.

I remember when Titanfall was gonna be the next big thing and Destiny would bomb. Lmao. Polygon were one of those.

Bungie really needs to capitalize on this. Imagine if there was a content update every second month with a new raid. I know I would drop $14.99 or something for that.

pfft no!

what they should do is at last something like the april update the did; put in some new weapons/armor a small storyline, and a strike or two

and bring back the racing......I missed it entirely when it was up :(
