Wait, why? Not suggesting otherwise, just genuinely curious as to what you mean, because you're not the first person to say that.Console industry contracting confirmed.

If only people got to play the game before buying. Oh...
I don't really understand the comments that people should've known the entire game would be like this based on the beta.
Games usually aren't exactly the same at hour 20 as they are at hour 2. They tend to change and introduce new mechanics, mission types, etc.
I had fun with the beta and expected the final release to actually go somewhere, not have the exact same mission structure for the entire game. And at the time lots of people kept saying, "It's only a beta!" to imply that the full game would do more. Plus there is some trust in Bungie (with their stellar track record) do have done a better job.
It bothers me that the defenders during beta would say to not be so harsh because it's just a beta. And the defenders at release would say it's your own fault because beta told you everything you needed to know about how the entire game would be.
Whatever I guess.
The base shooting gameplay is fun, even for someone who doesn't normally like shooters (me), but the structures around it could use some work. They have a good base to build on with DLC/sequels though. Destiny kind of seems like it will end up being the Assassins Creed 1 of the franchise.

Amazing how well this game is doing. I can see it only getting stronger as more content is added. I wonder why everyone is expecting a GOTY edition though. I haven't seen one for any of the CODs, but maybe I'm just missing something. I see the base game dropping in price, but the expansion packs are going to remain stagnant for a while.
You don't take such an uncommon event and use it to judge the situation of the market.
The success of Destiny, along with the recent introduction of Blizzard Entertainments Hearthstone, is further validation of our unique capabilities to create great entertainment franchises from the ground up.
HALO 5 will eclipse this, and all being well will live up to the hype.
christ... he talks money... the sole purpose of any of this was coldly calculated to make money. He advertised hearthstone and then reiterates Activision Blizzards franchises as major sellers just so people can buy their stock. wow. this is an art.
still though, crediting Activision as the creator of the franchise feels wrong, who owns the IP of destiny? Activision or bungie?
But Destiny is good for you. This isn't a good argument.
Pokemon makes a lot of money too. So did GTA V. So did Red Dead Redemption...
HALO 5 will eclipse this, and all being well will live up to the hype...well a lot closer at the very least than this game did, judging by impressions from another thread.
Yeah, because a "beta" is supposed to be representative of the full experience right?
I'm ealy into it, but I wish Sony hadn't killed their Santa Monica game for Destiny.
you know, i wonder if what you are mentioning is actually ta collaboration with Ninja theory on the Razer Concept.I'm ealy into it, but I wish Sony hadn't killed their Santa Monica game for Destiny.
Bungie is just an amazing developer. Didn't think they could re-create a hit as big as Halo but they're proving me wrong. No wonder Sony is treating this game internally like a first party release. If only Guerilla Games was 10% as good.
Microsoft's biggest mistake was letting these guys go. They should've recognized their talent and said, you know what, make whatever the hell you guys want to make and we'll be on board.

Aren't these worrying numbers for Activision? It means if they sell every copy they sent to retailers, they make $500 million in revenue. I'm assuming that to be profitable they will need to at least double that. Being in a situation where selling every copy you shipped doesn't get you to profitability seems very dangerous. One caveat could be that they undershipped. Maybe 8 million is all they could ship for launch and there's another 8 million on the way for week two.
Assassins creed 1 was disliked by many and now we get two in a year.People seem to really dislike it so far, so while it's a huge financial success thus far, I'd be worried about a sequel given its word of mouth so far.
It's not about hating anything, but it's a matter of fact. There's a reason there is a difference.Haters still saying thats sold in not sold out.
lol they still made their investment back, and all those copies will sell for the holiday as well
Uhm, it is generally wise to listen to people who have played through the whole game or at least most of it. A beta hardly tells much. Are you suggesting that people should base their buying decision on reviews by strangers on the internet rather than buying a game they already played with their friends and found to be fun?
You seem to take this far more serious than you should. If you don't want to play the game, go ahead, don't buy it.
Judging by such impressions, you could say Smash 4 will eclipse this. But it doesn't work that way seriously.HALO 5 will eclipse this, and all being well will live up to the hype...well a lot closer at the very least than this game did, judging by impressions from another thread.
They're going to be interesting!Screw the August NPDs. I need the September NPDs ASAP.

So they made back their investment in one day? Well damn
