Yep, it's like an MMO
I am more concerned if there will be any microtransactions, than required multiplayer.
Activison bet the house on Destiny, guarantee there will be tons of microtransactions. This game sounds like my dream game though and Bungie is my favorite dev of all time so I have a feeling I'm going to be spending a ton of money on this game.
man dont force this crap on me
they said its fine and you can play solo but now i HAVE to play coop
latest info about this game is really worrisome
Way to make sure your game won't have a lifespan past few years after it's release. Go Bungie!

So, it sounds as if it wont just be a case of these missions being too difficult to tackle alone, but rather that being part of a team will be a requirement. If you were planning on playing the role of a nomad, this might come as a bit of a blow.
An MMO is an interesting choice of video game for somebody who doesn't want to interact with other people.Indeed it does come as a blow. Let me play my own way, don't force me into these 'party up' missions. This is one of the things I am currently hating about playing FFXIV. Asshats complaining, talking shit, holding me up and ruining my experience with story quests.
If you are desperate for a good Final Fantasy game, I can imagine why people would play it even if they don't like interacting with other people. Though now there is Bravely Default as well.An MMO is an interesting choice of video game for somebody who doesn't want to interact with other people.
This is pretty much a raid.

Fairly certain this game is going to be on wow levels in my case if they have legit 8 man raids... Going to need to either start or find a guild. They were actually in the first trailer under their traditional MMO name: (Raid: Depth of Darkness)
Generally the idea in MMOs is to let solo players play the game (while other people are still around in their world) and then slowly onboard them more and more to group play in an effort to keep them around and get them into the core loop of what an MMO is about.
The standard MMO end game is about PvP and large group raids (I believe this is 8 players based on their statements in Destiny), which give you nice loot and these days, often a fair amount of story but not in an overbearing way that makes replaying it painful.
What's funny about that? With your logic I can also laugh about 20-30 man raids since Lineage 2 has 100+ man raids.A raid with 4-8 people? :lol
Well in a certain sense it is, with XBL and PSN+ subs charges.is this game monthly subscription-based? ala MMORPG or is just microtransactions?
I just don't understand why someone would play an MMO if they hate partying up/playing with other people. There are plenty of single player games that I think look cool but I know have a lot of tedious BS in them that I don't want to do to get to the cool parts, so I don't play them. It's really that simple.
It really gets old playing games like this with horrible single player gamers who do nothing but whine and complain the entire time you're in a party about how 'this isn't what i signed up for. '
Pretty much the reason why I quit playing FFXIV.
so 2 years from now the game becomes a Frisbee if I I want to REPLAY this because I do replay my old games.
who here has not replayed Halo 1 solo campaign years after the game's release?
who here has not replayed Half-Life 1 or 2 years later?
I'm out, fuck Destiny

This so much. I don't want my casual playthroughs dictated by the amount of people online. Or have to deal with other players when I want to explore the levels.
This could be easily fixed if they allow you to play with AI controlled characters.
Tyson is 100% talking about Raids. "End game" as in "I've completed story and played a whole bunch of other stuff and I'm looking specifically for a super challenging and optional cooperative experience." There are still a bunch of activity types and content you can tackle if you're not looking for that exact type of experience.
