Destruction: All Stars 30 minute gameplay walkthrough

Looks nice and seems pretty fun so far. I don't mind shallow games. I'm not much into PVP or skill-based stuff anyway.

Not sure how much staying power it will have with me, but seems like a fun pick up and play game when I need a quick match or two of something for a break from whatever single player games I'm playing.

I'd never buy a game like this, but that's why I love PS+, Gamepass, Epic freebies. Adds a lot of variety to what I play for little cost and saves buying games I end up meh on between the big releases I'm actually stoked about.

played one game tonight just to see what its about...

the reactive triggers are amazing. also this was weirdly the most pleasant open voice chat experience ive maybe ever had (16 or whatever dudes talking shit about how hard it was to get a ps5).

as a rocket league snob im not feeling it but for a free game hell ya

Is it just me or do the maps feel too... big?
I always find myself driving around trying to locate where the action is and barely score any points!
No music during gameplay also makes the game feel kinda empty. The main theme song and different interpretations of it based on character is really great, so having it fade out in gameplay is a strange choice.
The on-foot movement is a little wierd too, i like the wall running but I often find some of the platforms out of reach, making me look like an idiot. There was something about being able to double jump during the tutorial... well i cant get it to work.

Overall the game left me quite unimpressed. It might get better with patches, but it lacks the immidiate gratification of say Onrush or Rocket League. Simple things like providing actual info on each character without having to start a game mode would go a long way to make it feel less cumbersome to pick up.

As of now it lacks accessability while at the same time feeling "too simple". I think people looking for more depth are left disappointed and people who were looking for something fun and easy wont bother due to the UI, controls, scoring system and characters not being explained enough.

I found myself feeling the "too big" thing initially, but to some extent it's nice to have areas where you can get away from people to swap vehicles with less danger. Most of the action happens around the banks or the tornado, so when in doubt go over there. It took me about a dozen rounds to get a good feel for it, but I feel like it's good but can only get better. My only real complaint so far is that so many of the cars maneuver like bricks. I was really hoping for more of a Rocket League type feel to the driving since that's my go to.

You have no idea how triggered I am my dude. I can barely sleep at night thinking what can a random fuckwit be saying on a random internet forum over my amazing game pass subscription. It's not like I do not own PS5 either or a PS+ Subscription either...

but you seen triggered little man
Aw, you cute little SJW, I think you meant to post on resetera.. No one said anything about anywhere near 99%. Quit making stuff up.
i love how the most triggered are always the ones with pillowfucker avatars xD

Played for 30mins, just doing the tutorial now.

Honestly shocked with the presentation. All the marketing for this game presents some wild bombastic affair and yet when you're playing there's absolutely no music, or any crowd cheering or stadium chants or anything. You're just driving around listening to the engine noise.

Its made even weirder by the fact that they got fucking Bruce Buffer (or atleast someone that does a great impersonation) and he just announces the the start of the match and that's it.

So fucking strange, it just feels empty.

Bruce Buffer is the best thing about the game. I deleted it after an hour. Trash game.

One thing I noticed is that this game is raciest against white people and barely includes them in the game.
Wow your type is as bad as the clowns that scream diversity at everything.

id put good money you've not even played the game. But let's say you have.. imagine being that sad the first thing you with a new game is to check the roaster/most characters are 70% white or else it's a sjw piece of shit.

the game isn't the best but it's fun. Most gamers for a game like him this shouldn't give a fuck what the characters look like, I know I've not even taken a second look.

you need to check yourself if you think a game featuring no white people is racist towards whites.

Game feels pretty lackluster imo. A lack of satisfaction when smashing into cars, when trying to parkour on foot and etc. It'd be cool if there were power-ups on the stage, a better variety of vehicles with different aspects to them; it'd also be great if you could fight other people on foot, or activate traps on cars, make the parkour a lot intuitive and meaningful etc. There's so much they could do but instead we get this incredibly basic and bland experience that feels like they aren't even trying. It just feels like a game that's made solely to generate revenue with as little effort as possible.

Also, most of the female character designs make me wanna curse, punch something and puke...in that order.

"We have a plan, we have a roadmap, not just for the ... launch window of the game, but for the first three, four weeks down the line, for a couple of months down the line, for the next year," says McLaughlin, with new characters, new game modes, and more all planned for free in the future. "We've got a plan on a schedule of content over the coming year that I think is going to keep people entertained and engaged and keep them coming back and wonder what they're dropping this week, and wonder what they're dropping next week."

From a developer. It does feel a bit bare but looks like they have a lot of plans for it.

I like this game its gorgeous, and simply fun.

this game engine and cars could be used to make a solid fun arcade racer.

Combine elements from this game with Mario Kart, Wipeout, and Motorstorm and Sony could have a legit hit racing game for casuals.

Build some crazy tracks with jumps, loops, boost pickups, etc.

This game has just the right core look and feel. Not as realistic or photoreal like GT, but more realistic and graphically impressive than Mario Kart.

Double jump only works when you activate your character special with R1.

The game isn't bad. It seems its about building your hero car meter, and summon it with L1 and then wreck. I kind of like Carnado, racking up gears and banking them while destroying your ride.

But I would much rather have some sort of Twisted Metal.

Wait, does the ps5 game that comes with ps+ every month get taken away once the next months game comes out?
Nop. Every PS+ game is yours forever once claimed. This game will be free on PS+ for 2 months. Then like any other PS+ game will remain free for anyone that claimed it and has a PS+ sub.

It's not a bad game, but...

- content-wise, modes and skins are pretty limited
- the characters are ok, it's good to see such a high variety, even if a couple of designs are...too eccentric? Harmony looks like a Final Fantasy villain and Angelo looks like every white rapper ever
- I'm pretty sure somebody summoned some arch-demons, because the stuff I heard on the voice chat were not from this world
- Singleplayer/Story stuff locked behind a paywall, outside of the first one is NOPE...then again, I'm afraid this game will not live long enough to build itself a deep-lore
- Is Jian non-binary? I can't tell
- BlueFang OP, pls nerf

Is it just me or is it hard to hear people on the voice chat during matches? Seems like everything from the sound effects to the announcer are super loud and overpower the voices of other players for me.

Hit level 26 yesterday.

There definitely needs to be some balance patches.

- Blue Fang, Lupita, and Jian are the strongest from what I've played. Some of the characters and their car breakers are useless almost while these three have great hero breaker and car breakers.
-I'd like to see a leader board and even a ranking system so that you get paired up people of the same "skill". Hopefully thats coming soon. A lot of lopsided games.
- Out of car combat has potential but could use some tweeking. A lower HP pool would be good.

Overall I'm enjoying the game. It's braindead fun. Theres some level of mind games to the car combat and tactics to be used.

yikes

Free or not this game is incredibly bare bones. I would probably give it a 6 also. I do play it in short bursts but its nothing memorable. Still, the game loads up fast, matchmaking is fast.. its easy to fire up and play for a few mins.

Yeah but my beef isn't with the number of characters or game modes, but the core gameplay. I know they have plans for more content but that's not my issue with the game.
