It is a referral code for Green Man Gaming. You can get the game for 34 bucks after a 20 percent coupon code, and then another 5 dollars off if someone will PM you a referral code. Since Human Revolution is Steamworks, GMG will send you a key to activate the game on Steam.
Edit: I see the referral code is for a future purchase? I didn't use one to buy Human Revolution, and 34 bucks is still a great price.

But when you run it for the first time, it has to authenticate and it fails during the final step saying the Serial Code is not valid. Apparently this happens with another game they sell as well.
Waiting for CS to get back to me but I was hoping to play this before HR comes out...
