No way. Too many explosions and people shooting at the player character. In my DX1 playthoughts, there are no explosions or people shooting at me. Ever.

I'm sure (I hope) that's just for cinematic trailer purposes though, the game would look pretty boring if the trailer was just some guy crouching in a dark corner. :lol

I also don't see any NPCs running around like headless chickens in a hilarious fit of bad AI and bad animation. That's a failure for the old school, right there.

*facepalm*

The spot they show during the majority of the trailer is full of orange-tinted light sources like video screens and bulbs. At the beginning they show scenes that have zero orange 'haze.' The entire game isn't going to look exactly like this.

It's all how you play. DX1 was the same. You could definitely get into massive firefights with plenty of explosions (which you would miss if you didn't have enough ram in your PC back in the day).

Curious...How is Eidos' reputation w/ console visual equality? I dont want one platform looking superior to the other due to 'lazy programming on a 4 year old console.' :lol

Looks great. Can't wait to be walking through a seedy sci-fi bar knowing that I have two gigantic arm bladeys at my beck and call.

The whole game is dipped in this gold/black color scheme so removing the "yellow haze" would not be enough imho. Plus, I actually like it.

Wow, I never imagined the game to make such a good first impression on me. First I see of the gameplay.

Looks already much better than I imagined it would turn out.

Real inventory?! Wasn't expecting that.

This is a good sign! When I saw the wheel weapon switching I thought it was Deus Ex 2 style.

For Gaf's discriminating pleasure :/

SE/Eidos Exec: "This game doesn't look 'gold' enough! We need more gold!"
Programmer: "I dunno sir, our game already looks like it has enough.... "
SE/Eidos Exec: "I SAID MORE GOLD!" *slaps programmer* "In this economy, gold is the safest investment!"

Graphics look very Mass Effect-y but it's gonna blow that series out of the water.

Not a big fan of Mass Effect myself but other than the inventory system what about the game that would allow it blow the entire Mass Effect series out of the water?

I was joking guys. :lol

Us PC gamer types were insufferable when DX2 was being made. We kind of turned out to be right in the end, but we were still annoying!

Outside of the yellow haze and the 3rd-person Matrix bullshit there don't really seem to be any major problems. It's too early to say for certain but so far this is looking like as good of a Deus Ex-type game as you can get in today's "cinematic" video game climate.

Also chiming in with the "fuck yeah grid-based inventory" crowd.

Edit: Forgot the highlight around objects, but if it's an aug that means you can turn it off, yeah?

The highlighting was in the original Deus Ex. So I'm going to say no.

From Eurogamer's interview:

Eurogamer: What's the orange line that appears around certain items and enemies about?

Jean-Francois Dugas: It's part of the Retinal Prosthesis augmentation that you get at the beginning of the game - it gives you information on things you can interact with, etc.

Probably a permanent aug. Don't know if it's adjustable though.

Was it? I don't remember anything like that.

Oh, you're probably right. If it's permanent then I doubt there'll be any way to get rid of it.

Most likely. I heard it is one of the first aug's you get in the beginning of the game.

Didn't Deus Ex have massive tooltips and selection boxes with loads of information anyway? I don't see how the highlighting is any different. Well, its a lot better, actually.

This is one of the games I'm most looking forward to in 2011. They seem to get what made DX1 so great in the first place. I cannot wait for this.

Solo don't play that shit/with those augs. Im all about upgrading weapons more than using augs anyways. The only aug I ever used in DX with regularity was the regen aug.

If it indeed is just an aug in DX:HR, then great, Ill never have to see it.

Pretty much action done in the trailer is a result of an aug.
