This kind of censorship is dumb. The scene itself isn’t sexualized, and is no different then seeing a naked man like in a similar scene in Terminator. They make it worse by adding the blinding lights, as it highlights things that aren’t a big deal in context. What’s more baffling, is they have no issue showing man ass in similar scenes. I could understands censoring this, if the scene was sexualized (altho even then, its just an ass. Jesus).
Its not like this ruins the game. But still silly and dissappointing. Guess they don’t want to offend people, who shouldn’t be offended in the first place over this type of scene. More troubling that this is also censored in Japan, due to America having a moral panic over these kind of things.

Funnily enough, ERA complains about this censorship as well. They find it totally unnecessary. A poster actually said that Sony is really carrying water for all the worst right wing reactionaries. Yes, this censorship is because of right wing reactionaries.

What a brilliant strategy, let's spearhead evangelical censorship in video games 18 months before we plan to release a new console. But they're fine showing people getting their throats slashed open in The Last of Us 2 all day long. It's honestly bordering on homicidally sick to be this lopsided in terms of okaying violence but censoring basic human nudity; let alone actual sexual content. It's fucked in the head to be that pro violence and pretend you're some puritan.

Apparently Sony games are getting approved in their San Francisco branch. Adding censorship in a patch is even worse, since reviewers won't have a chance to see or comment on the censorship before informing their readers about the game. Even with game journalism being what it is, at least we'd get a "thankfully, Sony has decided to protect us from this shameful butt". It's also bad because taking away content after release is pretty anti-consumer.

It makes the M rating (ESRB) feel inferior to the R rating (MPAA)in a way. Both have similar requirements too.
I was reading a handful of articles from Psychology Today and their views of our brains on video games is insane if you ask me. Analyzing murderers and video games. Why do people get to own R rated films, but video games have to be super parented? An R rating would suggest your average kid won't go to the theater and watch it. Yet with video games, it's as if the ESRB/PEGI/CERO/etc didn't even exist.
It's as if they're ignoring a generation of people who are actually aware of the golden age of video games. They want to focus on young kids because apparently video games are new to them and some parents aren't aware at all.
The ratings board in itself gets ignored for these "true beliefs". I love the game and I'm not complaining, but these trends with censorship boards leads me to believe that films/Hollywood get the better treatment.
