lord have mercy.

I still wish they would just continue doing the show after wrapping up the story next season. Just set it some time in Season 1/2 and do it like a procedural: Homicide investigates a case, Dexter does his own investigation, and then you get the kill scene at the end. No overarching storyline and no seasonal big bad. House M.D. levels of procedural except being Dexter.

Doakes running around every episode making comments on how weird Dexter is. It would be a parody of itself. I also guess I had too much fun with the flashback scenes in the season finale.

God what a terrible season until that last episode where it got pretty interesting.

I have to see how this turns out next season, but I don't want to see them stretch this shit out for another 12 eps. Wish they got 2/3 eps to just wrap this show all up.

I just finished watching the whole thing. I started about two weeks ago, with season 6 and 7 getting marathoned back-to-back in less than 40 hours. I essentially watched all of season 6 yesterday and 7 today.

Safe to say that I am hooked. I love the show, although I agree with the general sentiment that seasons 3, 5 and 6 feel like filler. That being said, while I recognize the faults and sub-par level of seasons 5 and 6, I did not dislike or hate them on the same level as some of you in here. If you want to talk about a season ruining a show and shitting in its viewers' mouths, nothing beats season 2 of The Walking Dead.

Anyways, I gotta say that season 7 has skyrocketed Debra as my favorite character on this show. Not that she wasn't great in the other seasons, but I feel that she was on a whole other level in this one. Her finally discovering her brother's secret at the same time as her admitting her incestuous love for her brother, coupled with some terrific acting on Jennifer Carpenter's part, really sold the character. I hope the show's writers don't dismiss the relationship between Deb and Dex in the next season; it's just too big of an interest to pass up on. Color me crazy, but even though incest is super taboo, there's a part of me that wishes Dexter would return his sister's feelings for him. In the context of these two characters being so flawed and unconventional, I think this would be the best "happy ending" they could get. I know this is Hollywood and there's a solid consequentialist mentality plaguing the whole thing, but even if Dexter is destined to pay for his actions, I'd be satisfied with Debra avoiding jail or death row and finding some peace.

In any case, the wait for next fall is going to be very long and arduous. Fuck.

I have to say I actually find her more interesting right now than Dexter. She's always been a sidelined character, like much of the rest of the cast, because she's not privy to Dexter's real life but because of that she doesn't feel like she plays a real part in the main plot when she really should. Since the first season I was waiting for that to change and now that it has she's become infinitely more interesting. It's like up until now she's been trapped in a holding pattern, going from one doomed relationship to the next (which was never even remotely interesting).

I know there's a lot of people that don't like the incest angle they've been playing, and I have to say initially I thought it was incredibly stupid, but it's lead to an interesting dynamic. That scene she had where she accidentally revealed how she felt was really well done and I thought it was one of the best scenes of the season. It's not even that far fetched considering how messed up she is, but the writers didn't do a very good job introducing it in season 6.

Yeah, definitely. The writers need to flesh out and do justice to the relationship between the two siblings. It would be very easy for them to get scared by the taboo and drop the whole thing. I thought that was what was going to happen after Debra found out about her brother's secret; it could have been an exit door for the writers to take and go "fuck, we're out; we're not developing the incest plot any further lest people stop watching". But they didn't. And with Deb killing LaGuerta over her brother, I feel that the writers have to go further down the incest path. If they drop it in the same way they've dropped other characters' subplots, I'm going to be fucking pissed. The show needs to go out with a bang.

I totally agree. I watched the first two seasons on Netflix and everything else has been on DVD or DVR'd. I definitely agree that some seasons don't live up to others, but don't get the hate. Maybe marathoning them keeps away the hype or something, but I have at least enjoyed most, if not all, of Dexter. Things can range in quality without the worst things being total shit.

This 100%. I marathoned every season with Netflix and have just thought the comments about those seasons is way over blown.

Oh my.

So
pumped after finding out Anna Torv is coming aboard. Love Fringe, love her.

Is this true? Don't toy with me!

I thought she was great. I love Yvonne <3.

The best love interest he's had on the show. <3

Maybe we'd finally get some commentary on Deb's love for Dexter.

YO SISTER IS MOTHERFUCKING WEIRD, MORGAN

I can totally hear him saying that too. lol

Marathoning makes you less critical. It gives you less time to think about any given point in the story and nothing really settles in before the next part starts.

I don't know about that. I watched the first two seasons of The Walking Dead in less than 48 hours and I noticed how godawful the second season was. People on this forum are constantly falling into hyperbole and the extremes. Something is either great or shitty. There's no inbetween.

Dude, still looks way too thin. What happened to him? It was so hard to watch him in HD this season. I kinda thought bad for him.

It's not his thinness that was bothering me, but his jacked-up teeth. Every fucking time he smiled. Ugh.

I didn't say it makes you completely uncritical. I just said it makes you less critical.

If you'd been watching TWD one episode a week you probably wouldn't have even been able to finish the second season, rather than blasting through it and letting the badness accumulate only at the end. I know I didn't make it through.

Ya. I'm not watching anymore more seasons after this. The series is just a parody of itself now. It's all about Dexter killing the population of a small village in every episode and him going around moaning "funaly sumone unastands me, i fell gud now, dis is so new to me. feels". It's been like this for like 3 seasons now! Why the fuck am I watching this? :D :D

Hmm, I was reacting to a post I read the Fringe thread, but it's lost now :(

waitwat really SOURCE I MUST KNOW. I'd trade in almost all the dexter cast for some torv, especially since fringe is ending.

WHOA! What? Source please.

Um, wow. :O

Do you have a source?

Damn. NeoGAF is breaking news faster than actual news sources now.

wtf why havent you come back here and explained yourself?!
