He's a marketing person so it kind of makes that he doesn't know the specifics.

I think Tom Warren, who's supposed to be some kind of tech journalist, should have the capability to do the research before making those kinds of tweets.
Everyone doubted Mark Cerny claims including Richard Leadbetter. Hence many mocked variable frequency and boost clocks of PS5s until the first next-gen comparison dropped then they suddenly stopped.

A small detail that doesn't change much in itself but Dictator admitted to have made a mistake in its calculation, the PS5 doesn't have 15% more performance on the same scenes but 30% more.

So TFs are not everything, what a surprise....
This is why Xbox have been shouting it from the rooftops very early on and as soon as they could.
They were trying to set the narrative that Xbox was best place to play multiplats. We even had a developer state that the numbers don't tell the full story but armchair devs on here disagreed with that.

Fucking Spencer tweeted he already had an Xbox Series X in his house and he was playing games on it earlier on in this year long before the reveals of the two machines. You then had people on here claiming Xbox was waaay ahead in development if Spencer is already gaming on the thing.

This is what Xbox PR does. They try to sell you stars and make you believe you will get it but you eventually end up with the moon. Has been happening for the last decade.

Contrast to Sony. Says very little and is very humble. Goes about their business giving you just enough and letting the games do the talking. We nary heard a word from Sony on anything technical after Road to PS5. Meanwhile Xbox is jumping up and down going RDNA2, 12 Teraflops, Velocity blah blah blah and you have games performing best on the competing platform.

I believe this is what John was alluding to when he mentioned there 'will be surprises'. It's the fact PS5 is doing better than the more powerful Series X in multiplatform games.

Last gen had a CRAZY start and this one will have the same amount of fanboyism and damage control from both sides.
Let's just sit and appreciate the show.

Its a trend now. Ps5 outperforms xsx in cpu bound tasks
"Considering Game Core is all new, not everything will be ready for the launch of the consoles. While developers can now use the June 2020 release for games that will head to retail, features like “Multi-process games in Game Core” will not arrive until after launch. There is a work-around for this in the current release, so fret not that this means games can’t be multi-threaded. "

"woraround" usualy means trouble. That would explain CPU problems on XSX.

Summary:

- SeX vs PS5 vs SeS
- About SeX vs PS5, looks like both have the same effects, graphics, etc...
- People being reports about minor differences between those two, but nothing so far. Probably by the time of the day or by the amount of bugs the game have
- SeS on the other hand have some settings set down in comparison with PS5 and SeX
- Loading times between all. PS5 get the edge by seconds. PS5 23:30, SeX 26:48 and SeS 27:17(6:00)
- Resolution side, looks like SeX and PS5 run both at dynamic 4k with the 1440p as minimum (6:28)
- The max resolution from SeX and PS5 are 4k, but none system archieve by the time or not spotted
- Series S runs at dynamic resolution, but the resolution spotted was sighly above 1080p
- And some feel scenes, SeS runs above 1440p
- Both SeX and PS5 runs identical spots of resolution scaler, just one scene that Alex spot a siglhy higher resolution on PS5 over SeX (8:19)
- Looks like the game runs using dynamic resolution plus some sort of reconstruct tech to reach their target
- Perfomance time (9:52)
- In general both SeX and PS5 did a decent job of targeting 60 fps
- Moving the camera or in some cutscenes the game lost frames and than horizontal tearing happens (10:20)
- John suggest could be a thread issue
- Both PS5 and SeX tearing on the same scenes, but SeX tearing are more offen and occur more at the middle of the screen (10:58)
- After fighting a boss (11:42), SeX drop to 1440p and when you open the door to the world, a lot of screen tearing take place of the entire screen
- On the PS5, after fighting a boss (12:09), PS5 drop to 1440p as well, but the framerate remains at 60 with no sight of screen tearing at all
- After spend sometime on both machines, looks like PS5 hold 60 fps most conscistence than SeX during the gameplay, say John (12:16)
- Series S on the same boss fight scene give a little screen tearing, but recover fast and remains at 30 with no screen tearing after opening the door to the world
- For some reason, using the torch don't generate shadows on that scene (13:19)
- On SeX, using the torch during a non gameplay scene (walking) looks like create a loads of screen tearing an drops frame rate to the 40 territory (13:31)
- On PS5, using the torch on the same exactly scene have a minor screen tearing on the top of the screen, but the frame rate remains between 58~60
ZqdbxV5.gif
- Comparison between PS5 and SeX at 13:59
- John say PS5 have a pretty stable 60 fps with some dips here and there, but that SeX really needs some work (14:10)
- John say that enable VRR really fix almost the problem of the screen tearing. Saying is a game changer feature
- Series S really did a decent job of not showing the same screen tearing as SeX, stable 30 with occasional screen tearing at the same level as PS5 or lower
- At 15:46 , saying the game have some weirds bugs (duh)
- Looks like those bugs are more offen on the Series family than PS5
- Bug spotted at PS5 (17:39)
- Alex saying at 18:09 that SeX perfomance are 15% lower than PS5 at the same resolution on the same scene and this is not very good and John agree
- Alex and John find dissapoint that the SeS runs at locked 30 fps, they could offer a 60fps on SeS
- 19:09 "The main thing here is, AC Valhalla is a very looking good game, but I think don't looks good as AC Unity', say John

I have both consoles but I am kind of tired of the excuses. The launch of the XBX was not a surprise to Microsoft. No first party software and the "tools aren't ready" excuse on third party is weak for the console launch. Sony faced the same challenges and managed to overcome them. Not only that, they said goodbye to their last gen with 3 quality releases at the end of it. I ain't mad though. Phil told me exactly what I was getting. It plays Game Pass and enhanced BC games.

Colteastwood is hurting. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

The thing that always strikes me as strange about this guy is that he and his cohorts like Timdog have spent years telling gamers to "Wait until."

Wait till E3
Wait for the 1X
Wait for the series X
Wait for the dev kit to mature
Wait for the tools

They just the push the date and move the goal post. Someone posted a clip of Colt talking about the huge advantages Series X would have day 1. And now he's back to talking about waiting again.

Despite what Microsoft says. the XSS is going to hold back the Xbox exclusives. With less and slower RAM, they will have to design games to accommodate this limitation and it's going to hold XSX back. Really disappointing.
This is what I've been saying.

Whereas on PS5 there's no holding back. Its exclusives are going to be designed around a much, much more powerful system with 60% more RAM, 2x more bandwidth. That's their base spec for next-gen when they get rid of the 2013 PS4.
