PS4/XBO/Switch are 1080p. FR is kinda a mess on Switch. Pro and One X get native 4k with some frame hitching that is getting patched. Consoles other than Switch target 60 fps
I didn't see the thread but I guess one guy or a couple guys just went after him hard in one thread. I don't know who, or why, or what was said, I just heard about it afterward. Apparently he kinda peaced out after that, from what I gather.
Really? Could you maybe be looking for something that isn't really there in this case? IT is okay to talk about diversity and inclusion sometimes, I think?

Great video. Interesting how this old engine just doesn't play nice with modern hardware.

Another awesome DF Retro review! Probably my favourite vids on the channel.
It's a bit of a bum a out the Switch version mind. Saying that I'll probably just hold off and grab it the first timenot goes on sale. Hopefully the hitching will be fixed and performance increased generally by then.

True, but so far it seems to be focused on CPU boost during loading. I'm hoping for the 1020 -> 1224Mhz CPU boost during gameplay that Richard refers to at the tail end of that video (around the 13:15 mark). I wouldn't expect it be a cure-all, but it might help smooth out some rough spots here and there.

I typically hate old 3D game looks so I rarely play them without a patch or some sort of upscaling.
this game, however, looks amazing. Kinda want it on XBox One X but I think I’ll go PC as that is how I rolled back in the duke days.

Some Ion Fury devs posted the following on the 3D Realms Discord:
There was also the word 'FAGBAG' found in the game, accessible in a place only accessible using the Noclip cheat. Additionally, the devs included a bottle of 'OGAY', as a play on Oil of Olay.
Someone screencapped the Discord comments and shared them on ERA, calling for the canceling of the devs and game for these supposed transphobic comments. There were attacks on the devs on Twitter and other social media outlets. They were massively Steam review bombed and people mass-requested refunds on Steam.
The devs responded, insisting they there were being treated unfairly and the in-game items were just jokes and the Discord comments taken out of context.
ERA and other alt-left hive mind havens went berserk again, demanding further mass cancellation, harassment of the devs and an apology for their supposed transgressions.
Voidpoint did come out and issue an apology and removed the 'FAGBAG' word hidden in the game. They also promised to give $10K of the game's sales revenue to below nonprofit:
They said they'd leave the OGAY bottle in the game, which they thought was a harmless joke.
ERA and other alt-left hive mind havens went berserk for a third time, calling this a non-apology and until the OGAY bottle was removed, the devs would continue to be transphobic, homophobic, NAZI supporting, hateful and essentially the incarnation of evil in human form.
OGAY is still in the game.

I do my best to stay informed. For instance I'm done buying Activision/Blizzard titles after their stance on Hong Kong. A shame, too, as I was eventually gonna pick up Diablo 3 and Spyro for my Switch. Diablo 3 in particular stings because I was a huge fan of Diablo 2 back in the day and I was hoping to play Diablo 3 someday.
Interesting video. As John mentioned at the beginning a lot of us (including me) probably assume putting something like this on consoles is really easy. It was interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes and the issues that popped up. Glad to see there is a patch coming. I’ll probably grab this during a slow period over the Summer. I’ve been waiting for the console ports.

Eurogamer <> Digital Foundry. It is hosted by EG but different people, different goals. EG is typical game journalist SJW trash. DF just posts videos and articles objectively breaking down game tech. Ive even seen instances where DF‘s opinions on a game were the opposite of the reviewer.

Underrated? I've heard nothing but good things about Dusk. It's the game I might get once I beat Ion Fury if I'm still in the mood for throwback FPS games, especially now that I have a new gaming desktop.

There may be a better threading model in retroarch than during the game thread in Ion Fury? PSclassic has 4 cores and retroarch may push menu sounds to a spare cpu. It's also doing less work than while playing a game.

As someone's who's followed Ken's work for over a decade (almost two, I guess), it warms the heart to see the old Build engine alive and kicking. The devs tinkered quite a bit with EDuke32 and it's cool to see what they've done with it.
I think it's unfortunate that they were boycotted by many mainstream vehicles but shitting on LGBT people on an official discord to be "edgy" is childish and stupid. Totally uncalled for.

Nowhere in the chat logs they dug up do I see anyone attempting to be edgy by "shitting on LGBT people". The worst there is three developers out of a team of over a dozen responding to someone in their Discord in a way that's ignorant more than hateful, and most of it I can't see why it's objectionable in any way such as saying that parents shouldn't decide their kids are trans, and kids shouldn't have operations or be given hormone therapy which seems reasonable and even then the stuff ResetERA got angry about seemed more to do with having a bottle of lotion with "OGay" written on it (which Eurogamer called "a gay slur", somehow?) and a lead dev saying SJWs are crazy and try to get you fired for saying stuff they disagree with...and that was subsequently proven as true when ResetEra did exactly that over a bit of left over text you had to noclip to find and a bottle with a pun on it.
There's worse in the average episode of Family Guy or South Park than the "homophobic content" in Ion Fury, which is a fantastic game that I've now finished twice.
The ironic part of this entire situation and many others like it is ResetEra and associated crowds went out of their way to broadly paint an entire developer as being transphobic, homophobic, and in general bigoted because of a conversation three people from a team participated in...you know who else dislikes broad generalizations? Minorities, the gay community, the trans community...but I suppose it takes some level of brain power to reflect and see you're doing exactly what you object to. How do these people know there's no LGBT or minority members on the development team? They don't - they assume there isn't to facilitate a hateful pile on they can freely participate in.
This is nothing more than a repeat of the THQNordic AMA on 8Chan, or the GOG Twitter account posting a "Did you assume my gender" meme and having their entire forum claim that because of this these entire companies must advocate bigotry and be in full support of it. Selective ignorance in order to pile on as part of a hate crowd with the shield of saying "BUT IM A MINORITY OF SOME DESCRIPTION" to dodge any crticism of how it's very clearly just a power trip for these people to be able to abuse the hell out of an entire company without any question or repercussion.

Outside of his bullshit regarding Colonial Marines and the near constant stream of lying and manipulation that comes from Randy the thing that bothers me the most is he acquired the Duke Nukem franchise and has sat on it and done nothing for a decade after saying he saved Duke over and over again. The new management of 3D Realms were sent the company archives after they bought out the company, dug up a heap of old Duke Forever builds, and found at the end of 2002 it was largely playable and would be something neat for fans to see - they also offered to do any necessary work (clean up, compatibility fixes) for free to get it released. That was 3 years ago. Randy recently shifted from promising it was coming out as part of a Duke Nukem Collection to saying he thinks it'd be immoral to release a development build of Duke Nukem Forever because it's like going through a dead persons belongings....meanwhile developers who actually worked on it have said they'd love people to get hands on content from back then.
More related to the topic at hand: Voidpoint, the developers behind Ion Fury, asked Gearbox if they could do an expansion where you play as Duke Nukem and were told no and instead offered a cameo.
The company was founded and is directed by the lead developers of EDuke32 and have been modding and supporting Duke Nukem 3D for over 15 years but I'm sure Gearbox are more interested in throwing the character in more games like they did with the Bulletstorm Full Clip Edition.
