EXACTLY! You never know what could be in that tiny black area in an obvious dead end! We play Borderlands, Dead Island, etc all the same way too. It is why we rarely play with other people because it seems to annoy most people.

In rifts, full clears are so much more beneficial than just killing to the boss and leaving. I never understand when people don't do a full clear; unless they are purposely rushing for a trophy.

Wife and I play the exact same way, we always clear out the entire map before moving on. When we got UEE I accidentally had the networking set to public and two other randoms joined in and shot straight towards the boss sucking us away from where we were in the map to an area/event that they were in and I had to end the game and restart in friends only mode. We don't even play slow, we just make sure we're thorough..
