Digital Board Games Thread: Async Multiplatform Meeples

like before the new year?
This today

Hey folks! Great news - today we are releasing both, the Android version and iPhone version of Galaxy Trucker! @GTruckerapp

Edit: in another tweet they said it's released but it might take a few hours to hit all the stores (iPhone).
Another Edit: Given it's just before the AppStore lockdown that "few hours" might have been optimistic.

The Witcher Adventure Game just received a necessary but totally unexpected and really cool update.
Game now saves automatically at every turn, plus bug fixes and it seems to me a much more competent AI.
Great...if only they would add async!!!!!

Awesome news, might fire it up again!

Should have never clicked this thread. I'm now playing Ascension

speaking of that I have a little tale from last night...
so last night I was playing around with the new expansion, and on turn 19 I started playing some cards (I typically play with 120 point pool just to build goofier decks but while I was playing with a 120 point pool this time on round 19 the pool still started with 60-80 points)

a little bit into it I realize the turn is going to get goofy.

so I continued to play it out and see how it would turn out.

with the final look of
yes... a 219 card deck in a mere 19 rounds. The kicker being this wasn't that hard to pull off, the only must have card that I needed for it was the card that for each lifebound hero I play I got to take a hero for free (I then just started obtaining a bunch of lifebound, enlightened and void cards to get stuff like attack plus and killing stuff for free)

While it was crazy and fun to have a 1k+ point turn, and while I do enjoy playing this game in physical form... I really don't think I want to buy this expansion physically as I feel it will be a pain to keep track of everything.

any simple tips on how to improve at lost cities?

i'm probably wrong, but it feels to me like the game's 80% chance/luck and 20% strategy, which out of the ten or so games i've played seems to be to save the high cards until the end and then squeeze in a win

:)

Chance is involved, as always, but there is strategy involved in seeing how hard you can push your luck.
Do not worry...in time you will definitely improve and see that refraining to start a lane or doing one even at a loss for a greater gain are all viable strategies.
Everyone has his tactics too...I play the game a lot with always the same people and I can see patterns or recognize people from the moves.
Some people discard low numbers to test things, some people start in a hurry a lane, etc....

It's a fun game, ultra fast, perfect for a casual async.
Personally I love it.

Yay! I get to try Galaxy Trucker finally! I have it coming to my phone and Tablet now...

Amazing Ascension turn. Each expansion seems to ramp it up and that one seemed to ramp exponentially...

I'm loving the Star Realms games for those I keep playing. If anyone wants a few more games, hit me up - MarkovChaney. I'll likely come back for some Galaxy Trucker love once I get that hang of it.

Did anyone buy Pentaction:Medieval (Link) by any chance?

Also...did anyone still play War of the Roses: Rosenkonig?
Does it still works, how is it?

EDIT: Nevermind, I bought it already and works wonderfully.
Actually I'm liking the game a lot.

I couldn't put Rosenkonig down for the whole day...loving the campaign and it's rapidly becoming my favorite async game.

Hi! I was wondering if anyone around here new if Elder Signs: Omens was multiplayer.

Everything I'm reading so far doesn't really mention it or speaks about it as if it's single player and I don't want it to be single player:-)

It's not, unless you want to pass your iPad around.
Still, it's one of the best sp boardgame on iOS imho.

FYI all expansion in Talisman are super cheap now, down to 1 dollar (Reaper, Frostmarch and Dungeon).
Highly recommended if you do not have them already.

I think someone mentioned this earlier, but the new Ascension expansion is completely insane. Really fun on the tablet where the app handles everything, but I can't even imagine how you even begin to track some of these combos on tabletop.

There are crazy combinations especially with the multi-unite powers.
If you get the right cards you can keep cycling though the card deck and score ridiculous amounts. I would never want to play the physical version.

Haven't played the new one yet, but that was possible in the base game. I forget my highest score, but I've routinely got past 250 points using the construct that gave you another turn.

Yeah, but you don't even need setup here. And there is an insane amount of tracking and cross-tracking you'd have to do. It's competely ridiculous (in a good way, on the app; in a bad way IRL I'd gather).

highest i got so far is 370ish points after a 120 point game against the hard AI
dat feel when you got a good combo that keeps going

Pocket Tactics' post on their seven most-anticipated games of 2015 makes me full like we are hitting a real lull in releases. Twilight Struggle will be hugely amazing of course, and at least I've heard of Through the Ages (and CGE did an excellent job with Galaxy Trucker even if there are never enough live players online) but the rest I have no clue and not even that much interest in.

Hopefully Playdek tournament and chat infrastructure launches soon and we can busy ourselves with Summoner Wars and Twilight Struggle Tourneys. :D

Dominion is still coming....

Worth reading for the great quote from Donald X about the silver.

i literally just broke ascension
my turn went into and endless loop of killing monsters and then killing monsters from the void to make them return to the deck and then killing them again, there's no more heroes or constructs on the deck anymore since i already got all of them
if i bothered to finish it probably can get over 2000 points

The best humble bundle ever? Yes it is.

Scrolls is fucken amazing.

Card City Nights and Escape from the Aliens in Outer Space are also free!

The Solforge gold amount with the two starters is1300, which is worth $5, so if you're into that game the bundle basically pays itself. But all the games are pretty good, so getting the bundle should be a no-brainer.

So, uh...where is Dominion, guys?
From browsing the Dominion Strategy forums where Donald X posts from time to time:
"Making Fun" are the technical people who seem to have inherited Goko (boo hiss etc).
They keep the servers running.
They are rewriting the code away from being a generic HTML5 platform.
Also they are testing a version running on an iPad according to someone from MF.
No date yet though. (On iPhone, I'll add links later).

I'm gonna be working on the Twilight Struggle OT soon, just to give myself a bunch of time before the supposed March release window. Any suggestions on thread title?

At last Gambit expansion for Star Realms, out this week.
Single iap, unlocks Gambit cards and new sp campaign chapters.
