I'm starting to lose respect for the guys over at digital foundry with all the drama about AI
Do you guys still like them?
Is there an alternative to them?

Love DF, followed from the start

Especially fond of DF Retro

I, however, hate the snowflakes that cant stand their tech opinions and see conspiraies against their favorite machine. They do have opinions in combination with their tech analysis - that is the point

They criticize all consoles and PCs. I wouldn't know what's wrong with that.

I dont care about gaf's drama with them, but I can certainly appreciate them calling out a few times, unoptimized shit. We need more channels doing that.

watched them years ago because they actually did some good videos on benchmarks/comparisons/graphics but they started being heavily biased and the people (don't remember their names) just started to annoy me. haven't watched any of their videos in years. seems people are finally realizing their bullshit.

Sure.
I don't give a shit about their opinion, I don't listen to their podcast and I always skip the part of their videos where they talk about what they thought about the game and go straight to the actual technical info.

But I appreciate them and mostly trust them as a source to get info about resolution, framerate, overall visual features, differences between console versions and performance modes, PC performance, etc.
They aren't perfect in that regard, but overall seem more consistent and trustworthy than others doing similar analyses.

Their pixel counting can be fun to watch, no problem overall, even if I disagree with some stuff.

Just wish Leadbetter would do something about those teeth of his.

I like them sometimes. I'm not as focused on graphics and performance as their audience is, so I'm not a big viewer, but I appreciate their takes. John in particular has said plenty of things I've liked.

I haven't paid attention to the recent drama, so I don't have an opinion about that.

Absolutely love what they do. Do I agree with everything? No, of course not. But I think they're doing an excellent job and their videos are really informative.

I don't mind it but it feels bit jarring to have them presenting as experts and preaching ray tracing and machine learning as the only path toward visual improvements

I honestly don't find a lot of value in their analysis. I'm sure it is accurate but for example Wukong on vanilla ps5. Everyone said it looked terrible and I'm sure it did, but I had a great time. I learned that I don't really care about what they are selling. I just like to play games.

Also, big AI fan here, so they can take that anti-ai luddite bullshit elsewhere if they want to be in my tech channel rotation. I understand it's popular and hip to hate it in gaming and I understand there is a witchhunt to track down anyone who likes it, but I can also tell that this is a temporary backlash and I want to watch the other people who can see that, not the blind or the shill.

I like it, specially the DF Retro part.

But I don't consider them an authority, as many do. Useful yes, but that's it.

They do inconsistent work but they are an oftentimes valuable resource.

They're honestly too in-bed with corporations and have too much sponsored content that ends up muddying their analytical bias at times.

I don't hate them, and I watch their videos, but I also don't view them as some bulletproof authority.

Used to watch everything they made but lost interest over time. The pixel peeping gets kinda boring after a while, especially considering that a lot of games (UE5) all look very similar now.

So much of what they do feels very recycled these days

Man, someone posted this hilarious cartoon image here of John a few years back, wish I could find it. I can't unsee it.

Anyway, love their retro stuff. The graphics stuff, meh--I become content with graphics once the Dreamcast came out. As long as framerate is good, I don't really care about graphical fidelity anymore.

Yes. Hardly perfect, and they make mistakes, but solid content and nice discussions. Also been a big force for good when it comes to stutters on PC.

They pretend to be a tech channel, but have very little knowledge, and barely qualify as one.
And their testing methodology is quite bad, leading to several mistakes.
They are also biased towards any corporation that pays them to do "special content" or that gives them early access to games and hardware.

Edit: The retro analysis are cool, tough.

Used to be good. but Alex and John act like schoolboys now... their standards have slipped. Now, just little more than generation fanboys, solely to get likes and subs

They're alright. Their stuff is really hit or miss.

PlayStation fans really think they have it out for them though.

there was a time i really liked their content (before ps5 and series x). but after that it was downhill

i was a fan of them you could say. nowadays not so much. there are still valuable information that I can get from their videos but even that started to become tedious

I am a big fan of their work.

I'll make that clearer... I am a big fan of their work.

That's why people consume their content, I presume? Or are people there for the people and their peculiarities?

As long as they don't spread false information, act irrationally, say or do anything racist or paedophilic... then I have no qualms with them.

I am generally not a fan of attacking anyone's personal traits or habits, nor do I think anyone should do that simply because someone is public-facing... because half the time the people doing the attacking have got some weird, strange habits in their closet.

So to me, focus on their work and delivery... not on the people.

I like Linneman's retro stuff. It's all good, a walk down the memory lane is always welcome.

But unless Leadbetter does a public apology of "that ESRAM on Xbox One will change everything", meh. Corporate stooges, even if "indie" these days.

Voted "yes", but I wouldn't say I am a "fan". I just take their info with the knowledge that they bring in certain biases to their coverage.

I like their stuff. It's thorough and they provide thoughtful anslysis and point out their observations. Is it perfect? Of course not but if it was the videos would be 3x longer.

They make good stuff.

No. Since that PS5/Xbox Series X relevation when they were clearly biased toward one brand, i simpyl did not watch any video anymore... and strangely, i feel like i did not lose anything.

Lol as if the entire internet isn't against this AI bullshit and there's only a very small handful of people who think this is somehow positive for the industry. LOL.

Not a big fan of DF however.
