I get that they're going to continue with the Elite controller, but no integrated paddles on the new controllers is a huge missed opportunity. Doubtful Sony will do it either, but at least their paddle add-on will probably still be ~$30. I bought the original Elite for 150 just for the paddles...all the other shit is pointless honestly. And the build quality was even worse than the standard Xbox One controller.

But good on MS for making a bigger machine. Never understood small form factor consoles for the initial release. Pump power into it, then come out with a slim model later on. "But it doesn't fit in my center console!" Okay...nail 4 4x4's together or spend 50 bucks on a bigger one. Don't hamstring the entire console generation because you can't fit it in a drawer.

Mac Pro has to cool 2 gpu + 1 cpu IIRC.
If you talk about copying, even Series X top grills look like Apple cheese grater

Series X use of a thick standardish 130mm fan, is the peak design element, it will move big volume of air at low noise. You cant do that with those laptop blade fans.
No space is wasted, you can tell MS spent a lot more resources designing this system than before!

Buy a Series X to support their hard work!

The design is merely a byproduct of them wanting (and achieving) the most powerful console whilst also keeping the acoustics nice and quiet.

To put things into perspective, you can't by a PC with this kind of power at that small of a form factor. And definitely not at the $500 price the Series X is rumored to be.

Have to, cooling a 12TF GPU (or APU rather) requires good cooling, GPU's in that class tend to 1-2 dedicated fans hosed in a closed casing.
You then have the SSD, SSD expansion, UHD and PSU sitting/sticking next to them which generates and hold more heat, hence the 130mm fan.

To put things into perspective the red LED fan is 140mm (NZXT H440, I'll use it for my new comp, CBA if it's old I like the color scheme).
Of course taste and opinion differs, but IMO the solution they came up with isn't bad, we'll know how it plays out upon launch - same old is boring

I like it, sure it's basically just a black rectangle buts it's classy looking, a lot will depend on the finish of the final materials.

The internals remind me of the attention to detail HTC put into their HTC Legend, arguably another great bit of industrial design.

There will be a lot of scope for limited edition versions, that's a great blank canvas to work from.
I just want that d-pad to finally pass the Street Fighter test.
