Oh I know they're the same hardware internally, but I find there's often variance between units. It's been the same with most hardware, the XBox One on launch had some units with noisier power supplies for example. Or how some PS4's are noisier than others.
On another note, I wish they had included an elite controller, even if they upped the price by 50.
edit: Just got to the comparison with PS4 Pro and it really emphasizes how cheap that console looks when compared to the X. Cheap and nasty plastics used....

Cant wait! Read a lot of hate about the project Scorpio version because of the gradient but I like it. Big green letters I could go without but I like the dark to light color transition on the console.

It is an exciting time for Xbox fans. I feel like I should wait until around E3 2018 though. I think the system could be 399 or something by then or late summer in August 2018.

the elite needs the S model newer bumpers and sticks first.
the elite has crappy L!1R1 bumpers they break easy and has the looser older sticks sold mine till they redo it got tire of replacing bumpers havent had to do that once on any S controller i have. S sticks are tighter nicer feeling too.
If you are willing to wait another year. Not worth the 100 bucks and we've been waiting long enough.

Having seen it in person running a game, what were your impressions? Did it look good?
Youtube videos just ain't the same....
Oh and I don't suppose anyone knows the deal with FreeSync. Will it work on a FreeSync monitor or is it only FreeSync 2? I already have a FreeSync monitor that does FreeSync over hdmi so that would be great if I can use the X on it.

Yeah it may not drop that much.
I think I am more waiting for Sea of Thieves though and to see their E3 2018 line up, new Halo, or something new , action, adventure, rpg, jrpg. etc/

I played Forza 7 and I've also played Forza 7 on my S. I cant even describe i mean they don't even look like the same generation. no draw pop in the sky and mountains looked life like. just every thing was on a whole different level. took my Son and nephew and we were just blown away that the difference in that one title was so noticable. Hyped me even more i have 2 preordered for myself and my son.
the difference was even more than when we played FF XV on reg PS4 then moving to the Pro. That's really my only comparision i can make for now.
Freesync and when it hits TV's is whats kept me from replacing my current 4K TV's i'd love to know this too.

In terms of volume I believe its the smallest, and it's only by a very small margin.

The wait for release is terrible though (first world problems I know lol)

I had told myself I wasn't going to get one, but I know I will. I ALMOST bought an X1S to go with the 4K TV, but since MS never released a black one I didn't. I guess I should be happy they didn't now.
The launch day Xbox One will go in the kid's room (he ends up playing it the most now anyway).

Are you surprised that Gears 4 has a 60fps mode on XB1X? I know you were pretty vocal about not expecting the doubling of framerates in 30fps XB1 games on this hardware.

Isn't the mode up to 60 fps tho? Sounds more like unlocked framerate than solid 60.
Nah, i'm sure there will be certain games that can do it, especially with that bandwidth and GPU disparity. some games will be GPU/bandwidth limited and the FPS will fluctuate based on those parameters. But for CPU dependent games, my opinion is the same, maybe unlocked FPS in excess of Pro levels, but that's about it

No....that is the Pro. This is much more than an updated PS4.
I wish 4k wasn't a thing and we just got 60fps games. I'd honestly prefer 1080 60fps than 4k 30fps.
I can't remember the game now but there's a game on the X that at least gives you the option of quality or peformance (performance being 60fps). At the very least it would be great to have that option in more games so people happy with higher quality at 4k could choose that, and people like myself choose framerate.

I would like to know this as well. It was such a tease how they ended the video...that they could not turn it on and they are saving that for another episode and the review. I hope it is not a late embargo, like the night before. It would be fantastic if they lifted things on Friday the weekend before the release or anytime next week.

Well it was pointless to begin with! I warned sony just to wait a few years with the slim(2019-2020) and then go to PS5. There's no rush to run into a power race. but they didnt listen and put out a halfway pointless device

Fair enough, I take your point. Hitting 60 in open World games would be a far harder task although FFXV manages around 40-50fps on Pro which is impressive for the Pro CPU imo.

yeah, but to be fair, FF15 is still a segmented world to some degree, and its no GTA5 in terms of its stress on the CPU out in the open areas. I'm actually surprised it got so far even so. MGS5 could probably get to 4K 60 on XB1X though

Its size should be expected, the monstrosity of the Pro's design makes it look better as the PS4 did to the OG XBO (where MS really overcompensated on the cooling) and the One looking how it did also is what makes this look more impressive. It's not surprising that it's a good bit more powerful than the Pro since it's coming out a year later and the removal of eSRAM freed up real estate on an APU that's still almost the same size (can't remember if it's slightly smaller or larger) as the XBO.

They had the systems vertical. Xbox X was slightly taller(wider horizontally), Xbox S is wider(taller horizontally). This leads Xbox One X to have a smaller volume than Xbox One S.

no hate towards the X, but Tabata confirmed in a Dualshockers article that the X version of XV will be the same 1800p, and the update patch for the game on this new system will be the equivalent to the PROs high mode. These were his words. the article was by Dualshockers in the last month or so.

A 4 core, 8 thread Ryzen would be a stripped down version. I dont think theres any way that happens. Ryzen cores arent that powerful compared to intel but theyre very good when theres a lot of them. I mean, it may be possible because it will improve more by then but the direction the industry is going now is higher core count, not less. I think were gonna see at least 6-8 cores again and possibly 2 threads per core.
If Sony comes with a 4 core 8 thread Ryzen for the PS5 we can all expect them to be embarrassed once again by MS with the next Xbox, that's a given.

I think I'd take the 4K Mode if it's locked 30 instead of a wobbling framerate.
MS would have the same limitations as Sony if they even wanted to release anywhere close to them, and its not as if we can actually guess the components they will use right now
