Why though. Using a new engine is unnecessary when the old one worked fine.
Old one was beautiful

Jesus Christ. Should have listened to Polygon. It's not enough that the game performs TERRIBLY, but they had to tie mouse acceleration to the framerate? Fuck this.
Dropping the game to very low settings does literally nothing to increase performance.
Alright so I did some visual testings to see which of the settings causes the game to drop as low as 35 or 28 sometimes without any reason and from what I noticed it seems to be water quality if its set on ultra. If its set at anything below that, I havent noticed any huge drops in frames so far. Besides that, the water quality seems to be hugely bugged because whether its on very low or very high it looks terrible but if you set it to ultra then it gets reflections and all that, not to mention if you remain in the same spot the frames remain the same but if you move a bit and come back to the same spot then it starts killing the framerates. If someone could test this more thoroughly as I have to go to work all day, would be appreciated. Also in some cases I noticed v-sync dropping my frames by 5-10. Im on a 970 btw. Every other setting doesnt have much of an impact as these 2.
If I had to guess, they don't want to pay any more royalties for using Unreal.
The game is fucking awesome, but the performance really drags the whole thing down. Wish I hadn't bought a key.. no refunds for meI hope they patch it rather soon.

What a clustefuck.
DOOM is a much better game in terms of optimization and it even runs perfectly on a hardware from 2013 with Vulkan.
what really surprised me was during the GB quicklook they said they were just running the game just fine, but what suspicious was that Bethesda was adamant about them not being able to look/report on the graphical options.
ugh.
This is just... wow. For the game that looks the way it looks this is just sad.
Only 3 cards can give 60fps at 1080p!
You mean only 2 cards can reach it? Because I would count 1080 SLI as a separate card.
It's either own a 1070 or own one or two 1080, what a clusterfuck this is.
Hmm. Think I'll give this a miss for now. I'm sick and tired of fighting with games to get the performance from them that should've been there day one. There's plenty else out there for me to buy but no more pre-ordering. I've learnt my lesson with Horizon 3 and Mafia 3. If a games performance is below par in reviews I'm not getting it at launch (assuming performance is even mentioned in reviews), even if it's something I really want like Mass Effect Andromeda, though I have a feeling that will work pretty well thanks to the Frostbite engine.
I was itching to play a good stealth game but this one is gonna run like shit with my 970 by the look of it.
I guess it's time to play the dlcs of the first game until Arkane sort this out, maybe they are more busy with Prey right now.

I actually included 980Ti, because some ppl are saying that it doesn't drop below 60 very often.
And there is also Titan X Pascal. Lmao
Basically the minimum/rec requirements are bogus, GPU-wise. It's pretty much latest high end or nothing atm.
Forza Horizon 3 has a contender for the title of worst PC port of the year...
And seems like the game runs like shit in consoles too.
God lord Arkane.
What the fuck are you talking about? FH3 is an amazing game with an outstanding graphics. Of curse it still has some problems here and there but the situation is much better now than the release day.
Dishonored 2 is simply....dishonorable
Exactly. I mean if you don't have 1070 or 1080 you are pretty much fucked. Even at 1080p.
AMD doesn't even offer powerful enough GPU for today's ports. And i think that situation after PS4 Pro and Scorpio are released will be even worse!
This is madness!
Pro and Scorpio (based on what we know about it right now) don't add anything but GPU processing power, and PC is already way ahead of both console upgrades in this. Average framerates will be lower because shaders will be more complex but they won't affect PC ports negatively because there's no reason for them to.
It will, trust me. Because many developer will care ever less about the PC ports with more raw power available in new consoles.
We're at launch day for this game as well, Horizon 3 was a shitshow for weeks and it still pretty mediocre right now.
With the last game being on UE3, surely it would've made the most sense for the team to move onto UE4 building this. The fees avoided will probably now be outweighed by the sales lost if this stays a mess. But Bethesda gonna Bethesda...

Played it briefly last night. Other than frame rate issues, has anyone noticed that turning with a pad feels really off?

You don't need to care about shaders when porting to PC, they are basically the same as on consoles. Most issues in PC ports of late are coming from lack of attention to resource streaming / management (console UMA vs PC NUMA basically) and some peculiar CPU usage decisions (some devs seems to think that it's ok to just dump the whole console game on 1 PC CPU core or something), they are not in any way GPU relevant (well, beyond the lack of optimization for non-AMD GPUs in some titles but that's completely understandable).
From what I see we played 2 different games. FH3 always performed pretty well on my rig with 60fps cap from day1.
judging by the demo, forza horizon 3 on pc is trash
Just booted the game.

Set everything confidently to Ultra and i get 50s to 40s in the initial area. Just walked outside and i get 11fps. What madness is this?
Also there is a slight stuttering that is weird, and when running inside i would drop almost to 30s. Man... with my rig i should be able to run this no problem. Any tips?
Agreed. It seems like perhaps there's optimisation for specific CPU cache sizes or behaviour on the console hardware and some developers on some projects just do none of that for the PC port.
This has the same 'engine' feel that wolfenstein did.
It's awefull the stuttering to the point it's not worth playing until fixed.
Did Wolfenstein get fixed?
Yes. Its an awesome game to get into now.
