Dishonored 2 PC performance thread

Getting really mad about developers on twitter lol. First Mafia III and now this Harvey Smith guy, they just seem to be arrogantly ignorant.

a discount stacked onto gmg
but its also 35 on cdkeyes
but that tweet isnt helping.

anyone else running a 970+i5-6500?
hows your experience so far?

I've got a 970 and a i5 4690k. On Medium and using the process priority tool I get 50-80 fps depending on the place (1080p). Turning Vsync off seemed to help with the sluggishness as well.
The mouse input is still.. odd, it feels like it keeps readjusting the sensitivity based on some arcane rules. But it's playable. And tbh, the game itself is awesome so far.

"This Harvey Smith guy" worked on System Shock, Deus Ex, and was the level designer for the first Dishonored. He should know damn well when something isn't working, but it's like developers are absolutely forbidden to speak candidly about technical issues. "Try lowering your resolution and turning your settings down," okay thanks I never would have thought of that. Even more insulting because doing that doesn't work. Lowering resolution to improve performance rarely works with modern games, so it's even more ridiculous.

Just put in for a refund on Steam. I will definitely play this game, maybe early next year when patches are in and the price is lower.

God bless Steam for the refund policy.

Unfortunately, I'm now bummed as there aren't any other games out right now that scratch the same itch, really.

Was hoping to wake up at least a response from arkane, but all i go was a faq that i akready literally wasted my refund time on tinkering with (i know i can still try)

yeah, the reason I'm not that worried about not being able to refund anymore is because theres literally nothing else I want. What am I going to get? Another fps? Pass. I'm just hoping they dont totally ignore this and actually respond. Being an avid CDPR fan spoiled me, I must admit.

whoops double post, thought i edited.

I've got a 970 and i5 4670k, and I've had a very similar experience. Fps between 40-70 (up to Chapter 4 so far). Not great but playable, and the level design is top notch. Hoping that Arkane sorts out the low priority issue to get the framerate more consistent around 60.

Thanks to process hacker I'm getting a smooth 60 except when entering menus

smooth 60 with no dips? Do you own a 1080 or a titan pascal and an i7 by chance?

or did you turn down my settings.

with a 1070 im still getting dips to 58-55 with shadows on high and with everything on ultra i the lowest i got was 41 (process hacker on)

When you guys say you are getting X FPS you should clarify where at for the rest of us. There's notable issues around say, the first Wall of Light in Karnaca compared to Dunwall or even just the entrance area of Karnaca.

? The snarky response on Twitter is from Pete Hines. Harvey Smith has been perfectly reasonable on Twitter and has said probably a hundred times today that they are looking into the issues now.

Are you getting judder even at 60? I can get a smooth 60 but the camera stutters so much due to poor frame pacing that it's unbearable.

Not remotely similar. But I was eyeing Dishonored 2 and ended buying Planet Coaster and am enjoying the hell out of it. Also Tyranny is releasing and that looks really cool. Definitely nothing like Dishonored to get but I'm glad I passed on it for the moment and there is plenty of other things to buy.

PS4 Pro version is fine apperently according to some people in the OT. Nice looking game from the screen shots as well

you can get the game to run "fine" if you lock your monitors refresh rate to 30hz and lock it with some other software too. Not to sound elitist, but fine for PS4pro is definitely not okay with the people with decent machines.

I've put about an hour into the Pro version and honestly I think it looks better than the PC version on Ultra. The image quality is sterling and textures seem less muddy as well. Makes me wonder if the settings in the PC version are bugged

30 fps lock on D2 will give you load times of about 3 minutes. It's bugged.

Definitely weird as it drops in this room, I've been outside and at least I haven't seen it drop below 60fps, seems to just cap to that. (Took a cellphone pic as my monitor has a built in frame counter)

I'm enjoying the game a lot but there is absolutely something amiss here, especially if it's not performing well on consoles either.

Using a mix of Ultra/Very High settings, and left the adaptive resolution at default with an FOV of 110.

oh goddammit, didn't know that.

tons of vids out there that show them running the game at the lowest possible settings and still dipping below 40fps on good systems

I hope they dont just release a 30fps lock patch without the loading bug :))

Welp, don't expect any improvement in future patches then...

I think Pete Hines is incapable of admitting being wrong on anything. My guess is they will maintain that everything is fine but sure enough there will, at some point, quietly be a patch with "performance optimizations" that will fix the more severe issues.

You know, I don't think the "Adaptive Resolution" slider engages at all unless you set your graphics preset to "Auto" in the Advanced Settings. That, and the percentage keeps resetting to default for me on the Ultra preset every time I launch the game.

Also, there is definitely something wrong with frame pacing in this game; it does not look right in motion. It doesn't matter if you simply strafe with the keyboard or look with the mouse, it's just...off.

I can usually figure this stuff out, but MSI Afterburner is showing nothing remarkable or out of the ordinary. Whatever is causing the sluggishness, no matter the framerate, is beyond me at the moment.

This game.

Onto Watch Dogs 2? -_-
(oh the irony)

It's not the snark just the "Not most, some people are having issues" and "try lowering your settings". It's like, come on, you must've known about these problems.
