any guess work on when the patch will arrive? Maybe I should just replay witcher 3 or deus ex in the mean time lol

That makes sense. Still a bit of a shock.Probably because, like all employees in the game development industry, he spends 80 hours per week in his office and only comes home to eat and sleep.
honestly, tweets like his really fuel the lack of respect gamers often show developers on forums

Any CPU bottle necking issues with AMD as far as people can tell?
Its either PC or Xbox One for me and I have got an FX 8350 and R9 290.
I personally wouldn't expect wonders from the first patch. I mean it will fix some issues for sure.
But don't expect huge performance boost. Tho. maybe they can do something with the exe priority? I saw that being mentioned here few times, Idk.
A $60 game was released in an unacceptable state. People have every right to complain. Doing so doesn't make you a manbaby.
you're right and so is IceCold, I didn't mean to make it seem like I was speaking about this instance in particular rather than just sort of generally. I feel like it's always worth noting how many assholes there are out there taking things too far, and how it just doesn't take much to drive some to irrational behavior, when talking about the lack of respect devs get on forums. Developers (and publishers and PR and other entities involved in the production and sale of a game) can only expect respect insofar as they give it, sure, but some behavior is just unjustifiable
Believe!![]()
I understand but I feel that nothing unjustifiable has been said so far. We all know that developers are under tremendous pressure from the publishers to meet their deadlines and that they work really hard. However there is no excuse for a game being released in such a state. Furthermore, the fact that the game launched with some sort of weird mouse acceleration that is tied to the framerate (!) makes me doubt that they even bothered to playtest the PC version before dumping it on Steam.
Refund and wait for a patch.
Seriously, it's a terrible, unoptimized port.
BTW, I'm very picky about saying "unoptimized". Most of the time, people accusing ports of being unoptimized don't understand that "Ultra" means very different things depending on the game. Dishonored 2 barely runs well for anyone and it has all sorts of strange PC-exclusive bugs.
Is there a guide for the settings? I'm wondering which settings are the most demanding, or if there are some stuff I can turn down for a minimal cost in visuals.
For anyone curious, the game seems to perform even worse in later areas. I've just now reached Chapter 5:, and while previously my 4670k + 970 was getting anywhere between 30-70 fps depending on the scene (playable, but far from ideal), the first area of Chapter 5 sees my framerate drop to the low 20s (completely unacceptable). Think I'm gonna hold off on playing anymore until Arkane starts patching this. The Royal Conservatory
i've slept average 4-6 hours a night for the last year or more

At least there's a potentially great game beneath that shitty performance, according to most who played it. It's potentially fixable. And it could've been much worse, it could've been Mafia III (poor port and poor game)
Harvey Smith dropped a release date for the patch... sort of
https://twitter.com/Harvey1966/status/797922248560517120
I'm hoping that if he says soonish that actually means patch is in the works and will be release in the next few days, not weeks.
I'm waiting too. Similarly, the issues with Mankind Divided de-hyped me and despite preordering I still haven't played it.

Day 1 patch (was included in PC preload) already "fixed" it. It still has major issues from audio levels to audio cutting out randomly. Hell there are moments where you can hear NPC walking and/or talking only if you have NPC on your screen, look away and all audio NPC creates gets cut off.

I wonder how it's running.
Same here. I was so excited for MD before its release, but as more news came out the game sort of lost its luster for me. I still don't have any desire to play it. Maybe when it comes down drastically in price I'll give it a shot, if there isn't anything else I'd rather spend my money on.
You can find it for 28,50. It's a great game for that price. Main story leaves a lot to be desired (great side quests though), but basically everything else is top-tier. Amazing visuals, soundtrack and level design.
If only without Square's fuckery and pressuring to cut the story in half, this would have been a 10/10 game for me.
I know, I defintiely want to play it sooner or later, despite this:You are missing out.

I won't forget Harvey Smith's amazing work on the first Deus Ex and Dishonored, but the way he's handled these performance complaints is terrible. Sometimes even downright insulting. It would be best if he just says standard stuff like "I'm sorry to hear that, we're working on a patch as we speak".
That 7900 surely isn't gonna do well is it? The best 7900 series card is the 7970 Ghz edition, aka the 280X. Which is just a tad above their min spec, which is the 7970.
My rig: R9 280x, i5 4670k, 8gb ram.
This helped me getting stable 30+fps (20-30fps before).
AMD only:

I didn't tweaked all the settings tho.
1080p,/Adaptive Resolution 100.
TXAA works fine for me.
Very high preset.
FOV: 80.
View Distance: Medium
Shadow Quality: Medium
Good luck with that!
Like, I understand most devs don't make 200K+ a year, and that most of them don't rock a 4-way sli Titan X Pascal, but what's up with that rather modest rig?
Anyway, then he has the audacity to say a HD7900/i5 4570 is enough for a "good time"? The same guy who said a GTX 1070 should have everything at Low to run it at 60fps on 1080p? Then what's he playing it on, 720p with the lowest settings at 20fps?

I don't really want to defend this but the 1070 on Very Low was out of context. The original tweet had someone already on very low settings getting 40 fps. Harvey agreed that it sounded too low for those settings (ie you should be getting 60). He didn't tell him to play on Very Low.
And after seeing his home rig it should be very obvious that he is not the guy who should be providing technical advice on what system for what settings.
Well, if you don't count DX12 performance (which is abysmally bad on absolutely every hardware that is available today), I'm getting 60 FPS (sometimes even 80s and above 100s) pretty much all the time with occasional dips to 47-48 FPS in some (and not that many) very demanding areas on Ultra 1440p + FXAA and DX11. Dishonored 2's performance is nowhere near as good even in 1080p on a similar harware like mine. And let's not forget that in Hitman you've huge and very detailed levels with a shit ton of people on them.If youre expecting Hitman to run much better then youre in for a suprise lol

My specs just in case:
4790K @4.4 GHz
16GB RAM
ROG Strix 1070 OC

A lot worse. I'm getting like 38-42 FPS average on Ultra 1440p + FXAA and 60 FPS mark is almost unreachable if you think about it as an almost constant thing. I've seen 60 only in a very few places and like.... 15-20% of the time at best.dx12 actually makes hitman perform worse? I'm playing at 1080p with a 1070 OC and 6600k@4.5ghz and I still get dips below 60 at makkaresh at the most intensive part. (dx12) havent tried 11 since I got the card, since it ran flawlessly on tomb raider
Dishonored 2 runs great on PC. Even at 4K you can achieve playable frame rates, and at the standard 1080p you can enjoy a really smooth ride. It looks absolutely gorgeous too; one of the most visually sumptuous games of the year. If youve been debating what platform to play on, we can wholeheartedly recommend playing it on PC. Provided your machine is up to the challenge, of course.
Verdict: passed
