DC Comics, the DC brand, and WB could actually become a part of Disney and Marvel or at least come under the same umbrella at Disney.
As speculated, now it is reported that the new company formed out of the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery (possibly known as "WarnerDiscovery") may end up getting sold to Disney, Apple, Amazon, or a big tech company, where Netflix also probably can't be ruled out.
CNBC reports a big indicator WarnerDiscovery likely will be sold comes from the fact that billionaire John Malone agreed to relinquish his Discovery voting shares to merge the company with WarnerMedia.
The report states:
Malone agreed to turn in those shares for common equity because he wanted to give a combined WarnerDiscovery flexibility to sell itself in the future -- most likely to a deep-pocketed technology company like Amazon or Apple or another media behemoth like Disney, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Further evidence that WarnerDiscovery might be sold off

Further evidence that WarnerDiscovery might be sold off comes from it reported that AT&T, the parent company of WarnerMedia, is getting out of the entertainment sector completely and getting rid of WarnerMedia, even though AT&T will retain a majority of shares in the newly formed company.
So why would AT&T be getting rid of its entertainment division if it held the majority of stocks in the new company? Again, it is speculated AT&T will sell its shares in WarnerDiscovery and the company will be sold to a bigger corporation.

The head of the new company is the president and CEO of Discovery, David Zaslav, who was previously an executive at NBCUniversal, so perhaps WarnerDiscovery could be sold and combined with NBC, Peacock Plus, etc.
Worth a mention is that the head of WarnerDiscovery is not someone from AT&T or WB, so we see Zaslav is apparently in complete control and who apparently is setting up WarnerDiscovery to be sold to Disney, Apple, Amazon, or a big tech company.

Disney/Marvel rumored to buy DC

Last year there was actually a rumor stating that Marvel was going to take over DC, which could mean that if WarnerDiscovery is sold to Disney that Kevin Feige (who is now in charge of Marvel) could develop some of the DC characters into movies, or even bring some of the characters into the MCU, such as through the Multiverse.
So that would mean we could actually end up seeing the likes of Batman, Superman, and the Justice League side by side The Avengers (or against them).
Back in 2019, Geoff Johns also teased a possible DC Comics and Marvel combo in his Doomsday Clock series which could have been a foreshadowing of things to come as these deals are years in the making.

And now this:

Last week, reports surfaced that Warner Bros., DC Comics and DC Brand are officially being sold. CNBC first reported that the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, is the trojan horse to have the deal completed.

The new company, WarnerDiscovery, has given flexibility for a sell of both entities to Walt Disney Company.
The move could have both DC Comics and the DC brand under Disney and Marvel.
Apple, Amazon and Netflix are also inquiring about the sale, but the Disney move looks to be legit. Here’s the explanation of how the move is going to get done, with no interruptions. Now, AT&T, parent company of WarnerMedia, is looking to get completely out of entertainment.

With AT&T is expected to retain majority shares in the WarnerDiscovery merger, the former NBC Universal executive is expected to play a major name. Current CEO of Discovery, David Zaslav, would include NBC, Peacock Streaming and other factions within the company sold in the WarnerDiscovery deal.
Now, this comes off the heels of the controversial report last year; that Marvel was looking to take over DC, in this now confirmed major sale. Kevin Feige, who runs the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, could assist in the development of the DC Universe.

If not now, I can see this absolutely happening eventually. It does feel pretty lame though. I imagine at some point we will no longer see distinction between xbox, Sony, even Nintendo..

This is likely false, so I will take the report as a rumor, but I'd be happy if that were the case.

Keep them separate as universes though, outside of cool crossovers.

How can you ruin Marvel and DC at this point? They're both creatively bankrupt and garbage "universes". They're just gonna milk the whales as usual.
Look man you're right, but this guy's more right.
If you think the comics industry is trash right now with DC and Marvel saturating everything with their piss and eating up what little market share there is, imagine how bad it will be if they become one company.
And you know what, I think Zack Snyder's Justice League was a more ambitious crossover than Endgame. It tried to be more than a generic 4 to 6/10 Marvel flick, and Marvel's not likely to allow that sort of ambition again. Same goes with the X-Men. Yeah, I'll give acknowledgement to its shitty entries, but some of its risks really paid off. First Class, Days of Future Past, Wolverine, and Logan are sure to remain far more interesting than whatever Marvel Studios is about to do with the property.

Could Disney please stop ruining everything
At least under Disney there's a slight chance I can witness some B and C level DC heroes get a decent movie.

Under WB they've fumbled the bag and fucked up everything but Batman, and even Batman is on his 6th/7th version.

WB is still too scared to mix it up and give us a Batman Beyond movie, even though Terry literally has the title of 'Batman' in the show and comic.

Would this really be so bad?

The Marvel movies are incredibly good, the whole Infinity Saga was done so well.

Would DC not get the same treatment under Disney?

Heck... maybe in 10 years or so time we get a Marvel/DC crossover movie

Will there even be fictional characters left that aren‘t owned by Disney, lol? Honestly, the rights to all those old IPs, be it Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Marvel or DC, should all just be released into the public domain. Some of those characters were created almost a century ago, it‘s time others are allowed to use them.

I would worry that disney would water down darker properties like batman. The upcoming film looks amazing, but it seems like a very different beast than usual mcu fair

So Bruce Wayne will replace Tony Stark?

Could Disney fuck it up worse than WB already has?

Same issue w/ George Lucas and Star Wars. The Prequel Trilogy was an abomination. At least Disney has put out product that is watchable. (TCW was a good animated show, though).
