Did I just walk into an alternate universe where Tron Legacy left people clammering for more?
People acting like this is some huge loss
You will get an unsatisfying cameo in Kingdom Hearts 3 and like it!Just bring back Tron: Uprising and give it one more season to allow season one get some resolution (damn cliffhanger!!!). I'd much rather get that than Tron 3, but it seems more Tron animated or live action isn't too likely :-\
TBH, I was (am) one of those people. Flawed plot notwithstanding, it was breathtaking to watch. To be fair it wasn't like they were a blameless victim. Their marketing for John Carter and Tomorrowland was shit, Lone Ranger in general was shit, and Tron as a movie wasn't awful but it was kinda "meh". For many people the only reason to watch it was the pretty colors and Daft Punk soundtrack.
Man, Aladdin seems tempting, but can you imagine how IMPOSSIBLE it would be to recast Genie now?
Yunno what'd be fun? Lilo & Stitch. Do that live-action.
And go all in on a huge 3D CGI animated DuckTales revival.
Yes, some people love Tron Legacy. Amazing how different people like different things.
Disney probably done taking chances. It's all Marvel and Star Wars from here on out.
Disney's live-action tentpole calendar is pretty full for the next few years, with live-action versions of many of its animated classics in the works including The Jungle Book, Alice: Through the Looking Glass and Beauty and the Beast.
Don't forget live action versions of their animated moviesDisney probably done taking chances. It's all Marvel and Star Wars from here on out.
John Carter was kinda shit too. I mean, the best thing I can say about it is that I don't remember it well enough to say much bad about it. Haven't seen Tomorrowland yet.To be fair it wasn't like they were a blameless victim. Their marketing for John Carter and Tomorrowland was shit, Lone Ranger in general was shit, and Tron as a movie wasn't awful but it was kinda "meh". Yeah, Pocahantas Star Wars and The Lion King: The Infinity Gauntlet AwakensDon't forget live action versions of their animated movies
Tron and Legacy aren't great but their worlds are fun enough to get visually lost in it. Too bad. Hope Daft Punk at least put out an inspired-by album or something.
To this day I still listen to that soundtrack. OMG THIS SUCKSThe only real crime here is we were potentially robbed of more Daft Punk kick-assery, though who's to say if Disney could have gotten Daft Punk to come back anyway.
Well...
They had everything set up for a sequel, the characters, the plot, even Bruce Boxleitner's model for Tron and that Flynn Lives Epilogue and they are not going ahead with this ? come on !
Tron made $400 million and while that isn't close to billion that Disney might have expected, they could have with some changes. Trong Legacy is one of my favourite moves in recent years, there are very very very few movies that nail the look, feel, sound and theme as well as it did.
I hope they rebrand the under-construction Shanghai Disneyland ride.
wat
I thought they had the director lined up and everything. Maybe Tomorrowland's lukewarm reception scared them.
They can probably easily put some Marvel spin on it. Just one of the gazillion Marvel properties should have something that fits the same theme. What good would that do?

I think the movie is serviceable enough. Certainly better than it had any right to be. But it really is just a stunning movie to look at, and is still one of the greatest 3D movies ever made.
No sarcasm, but that was my favorite part of the soundtrack. The arcade lights and the music coming on with the 80's rock. I was momentarily transported back to my childhood, and it was amazing.
