Why can't you just ignore it like everyone else does? The internet is full of pockets of seething shitheels espousing any number of disgusting opinions about all kinds of things. I just pretend they don't exist. Most people just pretend they don't exist.
Why are you taking it upon yourself to defend this particular game (which isn't even out yet, which you haven't even played other than the demo, starting months and months ago, long before it showed much promise) from the bile of the internet? You stand out above all other posters in your unconditional positive regard for this game. That's why you're being singled out, that's why people think you work for NT or Capcom.
Why are you doing it? It shouldn't hurt you personally if people don't like the game. It shouldn't hurt you personally if people judge it unfairly, without giving a chance, without ever touching it. It happens with everything and it can be ignored in favor of discourse with substance.

I've played through all the DMC games, 3 and 4 at least 3 times a piece. I enjoyed the demo, heck I even stopped playing after 10 minutes because I was sold. Dug the dynamic camera, detail in the levels and the instant weapon shifting with the triggers. I liked Heavenly Sword (all 4 hours of it) and Enslaved to and if Capcom had to pick a Western dev I'm glad they went with Ninja Theory.

I'd say Ninja Theory is one of the most controversial companies on gaf. They always bring out the fights.
All we need is David Cage and Peter Molyneux to join the NT team

At this point I say we focus back on the demo/game, regardless how we have received it. Comments on one's personal tendencies serve no purpose
NT is pretty universally disliked or thought of as a c-tier dev here, save for a few fans and employees.
What.... You should really play the demo. It's just one of those things that should be experienced. Game is fun especially if you remove yourself from the drama, expectation and controversy surrounding it.
It got fucking personal once Amir0x decided to waltz in here and dish out ad hominems towards me. For the record, I was not calling anyone here in particular a brat.

But what I mean is, if you have an opinion, it doesn't need to be justified. If you like the game, it doesn't really matter that you like the game unless you're going to get into detail about why liking the past games has some sort of effect on why you like this one. And that's great, too. Do that. I'm loving the knowledge being dropped in this thread by people who have played far more DMC than me. I'm actually going to go back to DMC4 because of it.

Eh I've always hated heavenly sword even though it was the first ps3 game I ever rented, the frame rate stutters really hurt my eyes. Same reason I hated SotC
Did you try the demo?
Its probably a lot better to preorder it unless you get a used copy $15 cheaper.

So, I really enjoyed the demo.
I downloaded it today on my PS3 and I came away pretty damn pleased. Weapon switching was fun, the real time environment deformation looked cool and the music fit quite nicely.
I really hope the 360 version has a locked framerate. On PS3 it dances between the maxed 30 and below.
PC version coming out at the same time or "spring/summer"?

I think i'm with you on this thread for the most part. But as a big Heavy Rain fan, I remember you being very irrational about that game and the people who enjoyed it. Maybe ezekial should've been called out, I don't know. But you're probably not the best choice to set the example.

Lets get this shit cleared up right now. In 2005 (yes my first DMC was DMC3) I didnt know a fucking thing about game development. I didn't even know Nintendo was a Japanese company.
I liked DMC3 and was drawn to the series because it is damn good. Simple as that. Got nothing to do the region the games are made. Find me a game as well made as a japanese action game and ill like that just as much.
But don't try and tell me Ninja theories "cinematic wank" are of equal weight to the game that i like when they are based on the very design principles that I abhor in videogames :- story over gameplay.

No, I wouldn't really compare them either. And I didn't really like Enslaved much... but to say they are terrible, low tier experiences is kind of foolish. Also, I loved DMC1 and enjoyed DMC3, but the overall perception here is that they are untouchable masterpieces. You can't help be get that feeling... when in reality they are just good action titles.
I did however hate Bayonetta a gaf deadly sin. Also, I'd say Ninja Gaiden would be my favorite JAction game.

Yeah, I liked it oddly enough. I went in with the expectations of hating it but I found myself enjoying the fights and the song that plays when you kick ass. Hate that Poison boss though.
I'll probably preorder it. Hope this won't kill off the old series though. I want to play more games with Nero.

I'd say if DMC1/3 ever come close to being "untouchable masterpieces" it is for me personally that there haven't been any games that come close to them, and that's why they are more than just good action titles. Anyway it's just my take on things. I can't comment on HS or Enslaved because I have not played them. I can tell you I am always on the look out for any games that come close to DMC1/3 - that being DMC4, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, Godhand, Vanquish, etc. There's just not that many out there. And which you might have noticed, this small group of games only belongs to certain developers.
As for Bayonetta...well...somehow I think I understand lol

Holy crap Enslaved is rated about the same as DMC4! DmC is pretty much guaranteed to get at least DMC3s GR score at this rate.
Anyway the whole Japanese wank is bull shit. I played and loved DMC not because it was Japanese but because it was a great game. Back then there was no pedigree for 3d action games, hell the genre wasn't even invented yet. The whole West vs East action games didn't even start until GoW and DMC3 came out and by that time I was already heavily vested in the series.
Fighting games and action games are the only Japanese genre games I even play. Can't stand most of their RPGs..

I don't have Gold at the moment, so when the 360 demo goes live, I'll check it out.It doesn't take much to get good reviews this day in age. Assassin's Creed 3 proved that.

yeah I played the PS3 version and I am not a tech guy at all, but I can tell the obvious framedrops, stuttering, and the demo even froze on me. During the boss fight for whatever reason I went for at least 10 secs just having the screen lagged
