Do Final Fantasy Fans Really Want More Lightning?

They'll be towing this line until FFXV, then lightning will promptly be forgotten. The only reason we've had so much of her is Square's desperate need to profit off of the FFXIII universe that already took so much money from them, and once it's no longer needed it will be discarded due to the amount of damage it caused to the brand.

I don't really dislike her. She's nothing specials but she gets the job done for me. I do feel that SE is overusing Lightning.
But then again I'm the same person who likes Vanille....
The one thing I don't want SE to ever do again is make an entire game one big time trial. I'm looking at you LR:FRXIII.

I don't want the actual character to be in a mainline FF, but if they have to insert her somehow at least do it like they insert Cid by making it in name only, and maybe have a few characteristics

Please stop. I can't take it any more. SE pissed away an entire generation of FF games on the insipid XIII series, and Lightning is the face of that failure. She and Toriyama both need to get locked up in a box and hidden away somewhere forever like in Raiders.

Japan may teach English, but they aren't particularly good at it. And I'm not particularly sure many Japanese people venture outside of Japanese language sites, based on the fact that there are sites that exist simply to translate discussions from English speaking sites to Japanese.

That being said, any sort of Dissidia follow-up, Theatrhythm update, or even another Final Fantasy Tactics can have her show up as a Cameo, but leave it for side stories.
Square, we already have one Dimension riding, void surfing, Hilarious badass (he even likes to Clash on Big Bridges) we do not need you to Attempt it with another character.

Yeah we should totally go on what the Japanese are doing. Like not buying Final Fantasies as much anymore because Square is currently trying their damnedest to completely ruin the IP.

Wishing on a prayer that there are some likable characters with actual substance to them in XV. But when I look at that huge cast of pretty boys I think "uh-oh!" It seems like I can just feel the blandness oozing out of them.

I think in general, poor sales across the world should be pretty telling. Not that SE is getting the picture.
Laughing scenes and lightning dodging to be included in all future FF games.

I think she's pretty bland. I don't like or hate her though. She's whatever. The other characters in XIII get enough screen time to make her acceptable. She's in XIII-2 for like two minutes. XIII-3 might be the first time I really get extended time with her. Maybe she'll grate on me then.
Anyways, poll is bunk. Most FF gamers probably have never even heard of Kotaku. Out of the few that have, how many frequent Kotaku enough to have participated in that poll? Out of the participants, how many have even played FFXIII and didn't just get happy to slam a Japanese game/character in a poll?

I think people would have a different opinion of Vanille with a different voice actress. Or maybe not, but I don't think the hate would be as harsh.

FF XIII-3 will be the worst selling numbered console FF ever at the rate it's selling in Japan and UK, I don't think Lightning will be a "problem" for long.

She's only the main character of the 3rd game. She's one of an ensemble in the first and barely even in the 2nd.
I like her fine but no, I don't need any more of her. There are a lot of other FF characters I'd rather see return, like Balthier, Auron, Red XIII, Barret, Cid Highwind and Zidane.

I doubt a third of the votes have Japanese fans voting which is what makes me curious. Why care about what Westerners think because we aren't the ones supposedly being pandered to here.
If it's a main/numbered title, I never want to see her ever again. If it's making appearances here and there in other titles or spin-offs then I don't mind so much.

Even Vaan wasn't this hated, because for how annoying he was and how resented he was, everyone knew that Basch was the main character in XII. And Vaan had a tremendous supporting cast to hide his crappiness. Lightning is all out in the open.

Most of the Japanese dudes I know that game didn't even buy XIII until it was in the bargain bin, and even then traded it in pretty quickly.

Lightning was nowhere near as bad as the likes of Vanille or Hope in the first game. Even Snow. She was just sort of there. Nothing offensive but nothing terrific about her either.
