Oh, sorry. I interpreted that completely different as a hypothetical "if we did start developing a home console Metroid", but reading it again you might be right at hinting a NX release.

I mean it could go either way, but he's talking pretty specific details about what the next game would be and that's not really common at all, has anybody else done something like this? I'm sure the negative fan reaction to FF caused him to try and ease the situation by hinting at the new game but they can't really outright say it's coming. Most of the talk about FF is also about expanding the universe so it ties up with the next game, which personally I think it's a bad idea due to giving us the federation perspective like that is completely unnecessary but that's what they are going for it seems.

Sort of, I think it would be less of an issue if they kept the story more in the background, but I realize that's that likely with a modern game.

I just want a new Metroid game, I dont care if its prime or a main series one at this point.

I am really disappointed that Dread never happened.
