Do women prefer buff guys?

This is a crazy thought, but maybe different women have different preferences about who they are attracted to.

You know, being individuals and all.

This guy knows what's up. :)

And those "preferences" aren't set in stone either. They can vary! It can be a combination of things that attracts a woman to a guy that maybe she has never found herself attracted to before. There's no one right answer.

This is a non-answer. If 95.4% of people prefer eating a cake over unborn duck fetus, you can still say people have different preferences.

I don't know where you were getting at with the comparison. My point is that it's a popular misconception to assume that all women like one kind of guy. I know females who like skinny dudes over muscular guys, and females who aren't interested in slim men. It's still all about preference, and not all women prefer buff guys.

Or is that just a popular misconception?

I was reading that Justin Bieber thread and there appear to be a lot of conflicting opinions on whether he looks good in his new form or not.

I always thought that women did prefer muscular men, though the guy who plays Sherlock (the superior British one) and the dude who plays Loki are very popular with women, yet they hardly have any muscle whatsoever.

Bieber is not buff, he just looks lean. People wrongly assume if they see abs and cuts all of a sudden the guy is buff or even fit? Male models are usually twig skinny, so skinny a football player or hockey player could snap their arm with little to no effort.

And to answer your question no one knows what women like. It's a fucking mystery.

I like muscles. Lots of muscles. They're not a requirement, but they're very nice to look at.

That's just my preference, though. I have friends with similar taste, and friends whose tastes are diametrically opposed, and everything in between.

Yeps makes sense. This is why girls ho crazy for adam levine body types.

My gf doesn't want me to get big / buff. Good thing cuz almost impossible for body type. While on the other hand i'd love to look like david gandy > adam levine.

Of course, who doesn't prefer someone that is physically fit.

There's a continuum along chubby, fit, muscular, and buff. Different women have different preferences, but it's a mistake to conflate fit with buff.

I don't think that bodybuilders are generally considered sex objects. They're too far along the continuum for most people who are attracted to men.

Stay big but no cuts. In due time.

I've gotten a fair amount of compliments with regards to my size. Really though, it is just a preference. Some like the bigger bulkier look. Some prefer a more slim body. In the end though do what you do.

Imma stay big and strong.

It also depends heavily on a mans build. Look at me. I'm 6'5 - I look goofy as hell if I tried getting the Brad Pitt look. To support my body structure I need to be strong enough or I get back problems.
But a much shorter guy, will have a much easier time getting that look I think, and not be that effected by having a low bodyfat.

I was overweight in my teens so I have just have excessive love handles and those never go away no matter how much sports I do, It's okay though, because I feel like a red bull. "they give me wings". I can flap them and when I jump up and down it feels like my body is clapping and cheering me on!

Absolutely. When i reach that peak high at the gym it's one of the best feelings in the world. Life is perfect at that very moment.

Could not agree more. When you push yourself hard as hell and feel your body bulking it feels straight up like perfection. People who don't lift hard will think we sound strange talking about this but its true. I was a very lean body type my whole life until I've hit my mid and late twenties and now I can bulk fast as hell. I'll be honest my wife likes me with a little less muscle but damn, the pump feels good bro.

I prefer stocky, muscular beefy men. Muscle is good, but not too muscular, a lil bit of fat is fine. Not a fan of 6 packs.

And not into skinny guys.

I'm not a woman

I feel some visual representation is required for this to make sense.

I feel like most people regardless of whatever they're into would prefer the fit person to the buff person. I'd assume that we could just assume that if you're a super buff guy women are probably as attracted to that as us guys would be to a super buff woman.

Though as with anything else, everyone has their preferences.

EDIT: Also, as an aside, bodybuilders look like DBZ characters and it's cool as shit.

Some women do. Some women don't.
Being individuals, we have varied tastes, just like men.

somebody mentioned Borg. It had to be done. Please understand.

edit:
I also don't see the appeal of "flat brad" over slightly muscular, and one look at the cover of erotica novels tells a different story than that study does.

the "buff" look is impossible to achieve without the use of drugs

And then there is the classic of Matthew Fox! Remember this? That thread blew up like a christmas tree;

The top pics are strange to bring up because those are professional body builders who take thousands of dollars of drugs and years of training.

Pro body builders are the ultimate outliers. Most people will never get that big because of the costs and the look isn't something most desire. Combine with the years of training and will bore most to tears. Pro body building is very niche and they're basically freak shows.

Some men prefer skinny women and others like ones with more curves/meat on their bones.

Women also have different tastes so you can't just paint them all with the same brush. I've met women who like ripped guys, yes. I also know some that really dig the lean/skinny look and are actually turned off by muscle. There's also many who fall somewhere in between.

So you aren't really going to get a proper answer because everyone's will be different.

To me I always feel that fit people are considered attractive is because they chose to invest and commit hard work to achieve a goal. Being determined and having drive are definitely attractive traits.

Lets put it into perspective here. There's different types of builds. Buff does not mean steroids. To reach competition level, yes most people need the juice. We're not talking Mr Olympian here cuz those are swole beasts.

Fit and buffed women are absolutely disgusting. I can't even look at them when I'm at the gym. It's not sensual or feminine for shit.

Oh I agree 100%. I was just going by the poster's definition of buff.

Gimmie a pro wrestlers physique. That is my goal.

My 16.5" biceps argue otherwise!!

cut up too

beast mode

I have seen this pic a lot of times. I'm still trying to figure out which drugs he was on during this. I'm assuming some major diuretic but what else? Insulin?

When actors get lauded for their "look" i can't help but shake my head. 1- that's their job. they get paid to get into a certain look. And 2. a lot of them take drugs to do it quickly

I like slender, lightly cut guys. Buff guys do nothing for me.

I know lots of women who like buff guys.

I know lots of women who like slender guys.

I know lots of women who like guys with some chub on them.

We have different tastes.

But Fiction, who are you to speak for all of womankind on what they do and do not like???

I mean, I don't disagree at all, but it's freaking difficult to get a picture of a buff woman that isn't a bodybuilder, or a wonder woman comicvine photoshop, and I felt it was unfair to not have an equal comparison.

sure, only 1% would choose that body type, but once they know it's Jim Morrison 98% would change their mind.

or maybe it's Iggy Pop's body? then only 46%

same goes for Adam Levine, they're drooling because he's a rockstar, not just because of his body. if he'll work at a Gamestop, they probably wouldn't even bat an eye.

That's because guys follow the simple laws of nature. While women are more like quantum physics. They're all over the fucking place, and once you observe them they change their stance just because... fuck, who knows.
