Do you believe aliens visit Earth?

So I'm watching this thing right now, it's a sort of documentary about aliens, it's called the Disclosure Project, it's basically a load of anecdotes from military people talking about their experiences with aliens.

Although I've spoken to people in the past who've openly talked about how they do believe in aliens visiting the planet, and in fact more than a couple of people I've met have claimed to have seen UFOs, I've never taken it seriously really. That's not to say I do now either, but one of the interviews really surprised me, it was with the sixth man on the moon, and he was pretty adamant that this sort of business is going on.

I actually grew up in the Midlands in the UK, and spent plenty of time in Cannock Chase, an area that's infamous for UFO sightings.

So I'm not saying I'm convinced or anything, but it's surprisingly more compelling viewing than I'd imagined. What do you think GAF? Anyone seen a UFO?

Not aliens, but humans from the future that have evolved into little gray men. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

....but I don't.

I like to think so. It's fun. And who knows? Maybe they are at a state when visiting a planet is as easily as a drive to another city. We don't know. There have been some really strange sightings that are hard to explain. Wasn't there even FBI documents about saucers or something released?

Nope... God only created life here on Earth. The rest of the Universe, according to the Bible, is to show His power.
Wow, I hope you're joking...

Anyways, no. Aliens exist for sure but they have never come anywhere near our Earth.

Backwards time travel is a lot less plausible then alien with near light speed travel technology finding and visiting earth.

I believe that alien/intelligent life exists elsewhere in the galaxy, but doubt any extra terrestrials have visited earth. Inter-stellar distances are just too far.

Its impossible to say one way or another. The probability of aliens having visited earth depends on two variables; aliens exist, and they are capable of finding and travelling to earth. We have no concrete data, only wild theories, for both of these.

Its safe to humour the existence of intelligent life somewhere in the universe, maybe somewhere in our own galaxy. There's no really conflicting data to support otherwise (though solid arguments can be given for varying plausibility). Finding another planet housing life, and travelling there? That is another argument entirely, and deep in the realm of "if they can, we have no idea how".

Essentially it is an unknown, and though I sway to 'unlikely', I do so based only on current knowledge. I cannot assert absolute knowledge either for or against.

Even if aliens mastered interstellar travel and could travel to other stars within their individual lifespans, they'd have no reason to pin point some random speck(our planet) deep within the cosmos. I obviously also can't know for sure but I'd put this concept within the realm of things impossible.

Nope... I'm being honest here. And I'm not forcing you to believe me... the OP asked a question and I gave him my opinion about the subject.

sure man, fuck what other people believes! right?

I myself do believe Aliens exist, but i guess its more of a "i want to believe" kind of thing

Yep. We are descendants from aliens genetically manipulating primitive man so that we could be better suited to perform manual labor. They were seen as gods and we mined various resources that they needed for their survival. After about 1,000 years of slave labor disguised as work to please their gods, the humans began to question their true purpose. They then revolted and the aliens left to perhaps someday return when their resources are again depleted.

So most people are saying no, which is certainly fair enough, that's my opinion also. But what do you think about all these military folk (including astronauts) saying they know otherwise?

What difference does it make? Lots of people lie.

sounds ridiculous, but i remember in Star Ocean or one of those games they said "our earth is uncivilized/not advanced enough to be taught that there are other civilizations/colonies of aliens in the universe. until we figure it out on our own, we are to be left alone."

something of a "no interference" policy around the Universe....

i personally think something like this could be real, with visitors checking in on us from time to time, even giving knowledge to few societies of the past: Egyptians, Mayans, Atlantians, Japanese.....like i said, sounds ridiculous, but i dont want to believe that we are the only people in the entire universe who found "perfect galactic conditions" for survival...

So god created an entirely elaborate, pulsing, changing, immense and complex, chaotic and law-bound, expansive and powerful sandbox of existence purely to entertain the thoughts of a race of smart monkeys? I find that hard to believe. Especially when you consider the universe was here long, long before us.

No, it seems more likely that the universe had existed in all its mysterious and incredulous ways and we just happened to collect and grow like so many batches of advanced pond scum. Look, I don't want to crap all over your beliefs, but you should give the universe more credit. Your human mind must be humbled. I'm not even saying there couldn't be a god, but to make an existence like this and fill it only with a boring race of apes that take up less than .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of all of existence as we know it... well, that seems harder to believe than anything. I guess you need a lot of fucking faith for that.

shit, your insightful post sure just changed everything he believed in all his life! and only in 2 seconds!

seriously man, just respect and shutup, this aint a religion thread

I doubt it. It would take more resources and energy than we can imagine for another intelligent species to come here.

And once they are here what do they do? Give us their technology? It would be like us trying to tell an ant how to build a rocket ship.

They most likely know about us, but probably don't care.

Yes aliens have been here, but it was long, long before man reigned supreme. The alien civilization is much older than ours, and we were but a pit stop on the way to the rim.

Yeap... my religious belief is based on faith.

So they're all just lying? Quite possible, but why would they do that?

Right now this guy called Nick Pope is on, he's from the UK MoD, he's openly talking about his job being to investigate UFO sightings.

But I 100% believe that alien life exists.

Of course it does. We already found micro organisms in space. We found the building blocks for life all over the tiny area of the universe we have looked it. Earth like planets. It's ridiculous to think there are billions of galaxies with billions and trillions of stars but we are all that's in it.

While I don't actually believe in it the idea freaks me out but it's that same feeling I get after watching a scary movie. I know it's not real but somehow it freaks me out at the core. Alien life is a given but as advanced as that and them acting as some sort of guardian is veerery unlikely.

This thread deals with scientific topics. I don't even know why he came in to reveal his religious beliefs on aliens as the thread topic does the most logical thing and assumes the existence of aliens right from the get-go.

I'll gladly respect someone's beliefs as long as they aren't trying to inject them into a conversation that does not concern religion. Like I said, I don't claim to know if there is a god or not. I just think his "belief" is massively presumptuous since he has absolutely no knowledge on the subject at hand.

Yeah, but people believe all kinds of ridiculous things.

Yes, I even think we are all related to extra terrestial life and that, in this lifetime, our physical forms will enter the galactic community as we go through the ascension process. The ascension process is the main reason why earth is an extremely interesting place for all life in the universe to watch and visit. The experiment of ascending from the physical dimension to higher ones hasn't been done successfully before, this time around we will.
