No offense to the OP as its a interesting question I guess. But lately some of the Gaf threads are severely f*cked up Some of the strange questions and social interaction threads are borderline creepy.

Maybe a more useful question would've been, "Do you greet 'everybody'? Even if you don't know them" or "Does everyone greet each other at your job"

In my last job, I never used to say hello to people I didn't know while in the office.
But out in the field, we'd always wave or chat to anybody in a company van or uniform.
I think it's like an unwritten rule, plus you can flag people down if you need help.

I nod and give a quick hey to people I know. I try to avoid idle conversation, I got shit to do.

Recently a girl that works here started talking to me, I went along as it was the polite thing to do. Now every time I see her she talks my ear of for five minutes. I need to break the cycle, going to have to start cutting her off and giving her the sorry gotta run bit.

Completely different environments, plus I sit pretty far away from my team members.

Co-workers not greeting each other is a phenomenon that I've noticed for a while now. Thought it was about time to double check with GaF.
