Do you judge people based on their avatars?

Seriously.
Anime avatars aren't that bad.

I HATE people with Lost avatars.
Oh shit-

I just hope people don't think I'm a woman beater or something due to my comical avatar.

I feel the need here to fix "handegg" to "anime" and avatar quote you (even though I don't necessarily feel that would be the case), but I'm trying hard to be a better person. For Jesus.
but my avatar is from a videogame!

I should clarify that when I say I judge people if they have an exclusive character, I mean those first party characters that embody the whole dudebro school of character design or are the mark of obvious console warriors. If the character is a little more obscure, underappreciated or if the usage is clever, my opinion of the poster often rises.

I'm actually having trouble thinking of mods that don't have anime avatars. Off the top of my head, all I can think of is Vennt. Amirox is Scott Pilgrim which is manga inspired. Is Dragona's anime related?

I JUST caught what movie your avatar was from, heh.

2) I hate politics, always have. I originally posted in PoliGAF because I hated 'politics-as-usual'. Not the type of pseudo dislike for politics-as-usual that one usually expresses, but a seething hatred for the fucked up political system as a whole, against which Ron Paul has been the most reasonable spokesperson for a while, imho. I care about politics, but in a different way than you, and you simply don't accept that one can be sane and share my hatred for it.

Ah, most of us are enraged by the sheer stuff and nonsense of modern politics. It is largely a bickering, partisan-based, media circus bedded on a foundation of paranoia and electoral-focus more-so than hewing to any sense of its real purpose in serving the interests of the public or adhering to a serious belief in its ability to change the world for the better. This is not only the fault of the political class, but also contributed to by decades-long rampant neo-liberal institutionalism, the uptick of a 24-hour news-cycle selling fear, frivolity and little else, as well as apathetic citizens in generally democratic nations giving ground in the only process that corporations and lobbyists still fear and wish to control.

Look at what we have going on in Australia right now: Sadly, the best Labor Party leadership cadre assembled since the Hawke/Keating years are about to take a step on the slippery road towards censorship of the internet. They also refuse to increase veteran benefits and are stammering towards health infrastructure reform and tacitly mild climate change legislation. If that's not frustrating, I don't know what is. Despite that, I see interest in the general shape of world politics as near necessity, whether or not you like or dislike it. I cannot fathom those who would abandon exerting some influence over the political realities of their future, and the future of the children - however small a quantum of influence that adds up to. (Not to say this is describing you in particular.)

Yes, it blinks. Its so tiny, I bet you 90% of posters never notice that little detail.

(Anther fun fact is to make sure it doesn't get resized, its in a transparent 90x120 box. Also allows it to be centered.)
I think it would look better if it was higher up. Looks weird with all that space around it.

My feeling on anime avatars is if they are supercute and doing some kind of nonsensical motion then I can see how some see it as annoying. It's also true for non-anime avatars, but somehow posters aren't putting 2 and 2 together.

Of course, your avatar is just telling us what happens when we're late on our Sony payments

Her normal one is Hrist from Valkyrie Profile iirc.

I think people are talking about the generic looking ones with little girls and/or men who look like little girls.

That said, these guys don't have animu avatars:
bishoptl
maharg
Vennt
Wasabiking
White Man
iapetus
Hitokage

I'd like to see non - anime avatars get the same amount of hate, just to even out the discrimination :[

Avatars are just a means for me to remember who the hell people are. That way I can skip over people that I dislike.

Sometimes I don't look at the avatar and then bad things happen. Like I'll be reading a reasonable post and then at the very end it says PEACE and I look to the left and of course its Pimpwerx again and I want to punch myself in the face so I can feel a different kind of pain.

Not really. Although if there's one thing that annoys me is when people change their avatars. I recognize a lot of posters based on their avatar and when they change it, it trips me out because I usually think it's a different person. I'll always pay more attention to people's posts/opinions than judge them based solely on their avatars.

Seriously, what the hell is going on in your avatar?

Ah bishoptl. Knew I forgot someone. Don't see the other ones you listed post very often, but thanks.

Not so much. Although, if I'm skimming down a thread, I'll stop to read a mod's post just because their username is red. It's not that I find their posts particularly outstanding. It's the red. It's like a subconscious signal to my brain that the post is special.

Just to clarify for those who like Kane and Lynch. I'm not Jeff Gertsmann. Please don't send me angry emails.

Also, yes. Yes I do judge people based on their avatars. I judge them harshly.

I just realized that Claire from Lost is the same alien chick from the old show Roswell.. no wonder.
Man that show was bad. She was an alien though? Hot.
The alien woman in V who was superman's sister or something in Smallville is crazy hot.

Laura Vandervoort was hot in Smallville. I don't find her attractive in V, though.

I do judge, but normally positively: I like most avatars I see. However, it does make me sad when I see someone with an avatar I like spouting anti-evolution garbage, or giving girl-age advice I disapprove of.

Also, +1 for "doesn't know names, only recognizes avatar;" and the associated "if someone changes their avatar, I suddenly don't know who they are anymore."

And +5 for PantherLotus's avatar. Although I think I liked some of the other versions better. The one where she just barely cracks a smile at the end if my favorite, I think...

If the general tone of most of their posts goes along with it...That Stuburns dawg and his avatar comes to mind.

Actually tbh, his avatar pisses me off. I just find it very annoying, which why I remember it ofc.

You are a badass that like Resident Evil.

Rarely if ever. I think it's pretty stupid to judge someone for an avatar that is doesn't break forum rules and is unique.

I do wonder if people judge me because of my avatar though...

Edit:
Oh, and OneEightZero's Claire is hotter.

This avatar? Damn, I've had it like three hours.
