Do you judge people by their avatars?

I judge people's avatar-creating abilities by their avatar. Some are cropped well, make good use of color and have a subject I recognize - others, not so much. But they're still just name tags that are mostly useful for sorting out one poster from another at a glance.

You should knock Real out, but then lose CL final against Atlético.

You misspelled Chelsea.

Seriously though, I use my face because there's no better picture to convey who I am. I'm not an album cover, or a dog in a hat, or a videogame character. I kinda wish everyone used their face.

What makes you think I don't use my own face? ;-)

But it would change the forum quite a bit to see the different age groups represented. I say that as a representative of Geezer GAF.

Not really. I mean I don't judge the person but I might think something along the lines of, "this person and I won't have much in common"

Also, if you're judging me based on my avatar, what are you thinking ?
That you're awesome because anyone rocking Vin is a cool dude.

Please don't judge me with this shit. People used to take me seriously but with this, they don't. Ugh.

I can't say I recognize you so I'll give you my first impression/judgement of you based on your avatar. I see you as a little skinny guy who doesn't work out much or at all even.

SON OF A BITCH

I do. Mostly on gaming side though. No real battle lines drawn here on off topic, so there at fewer fanboy posts and fewer people with beanies, Kaz faces, X (Monolith), Luigi Hats, etc.

I had a Luigi hat for a while. I vaguely regret it. I don't think I'll ever participate in another avatar meme.

I will say that I hate even remotely NSFW avatars. I know it's the internet and all, but they sometimes make browsing gaf at school more awkward than it needs to be.

I don't really judge people by their avatar unless it's from a particular anime or MLP. Even then I give them the benefit of the doubt. Most times I only know the poster by their avatar unless they are a poster worth remembering.

My avatar is a judge - does that count?

(And while I don't actively judge someone by their avatar, it probably affects my interactions with people at least subconsciously.)

I find it surprising that people judge anime avatars so frequently. I judge them no more or less than any other avatars.

Sports avatars may be a bit different than usual but that's simply because I find little interest in sports and thus it's not so much a negative as it simply doesn't do anything for me

I don't have avatars turned on.

I work under the assumption that I wouldn't be friends with any of you people in real life, so that way I'm not disappointed when my view on everything is wildly different than the general feelings of the gaf hive-mind.

I liked the Luigi hat thing, but then someone actually used it as an argument against me, lol. I also participate in RPJ and FPF. I think it's harmless and fun.

I feel exactly the same! Weird, huh?

No. There are avatars I like and that I dislike....but I don't judge the person for having a different taste or interest. Maybe if someone was rocking a Hitler avatar I would judge.

Old and crotchety.

I am 33 and gettin' real close to 34. :(

That you either need to wear more sunscreen or just finished a bottle of whiskey

This made me laugh. I do like whiskey.

This man gets it. Though I admit most won't know the greatness of Vin. My grandfather immigrated from Italy and said he learned to speak English watching the dodgers and vin. I've been rocking the avatar ever since he's been doing these one year contracts. I will miss him greatly.

Your old one was much better honestly.

According to this thread though a number of people will just ignore this post anyways so I wouldn't go by what I say.

I agree, but...I lost an avatar bet :/

I find people with anime avatars get judged often. I sometimes see some posts dismissing other people based on their anime related avatar. I don't know why, but I judge those people that judge. I love anime, so I don't really care.

Personally, I don't really judge anyone by anything other than their posts.

Moe and furry avatars ......Moe creeps me out a lot ...."Japanese culture" this, "you dont understand" that...no being a grown adult and watching shows about little girls is weird no matter which way you cut it, on top of the fact the fandom seems to like to sexualize them with producers more than happy to push that angle...nope nope nope nope nope

I'd actually like it if people were forced to have a full body/face avatar picture.

Then when you're arguing with someone you will be able to decide if their opinion is influenced by their life choices and personal style.
