Do you know anyone who puts ketchup or A1 on a steak?

I wouldn't put these two into the same class of felony.

Sometimes, in decreasing frequency, I'll have steak sauce off to the side, never poured directly over the meat.

You're all missing out, ketchup on steak is fuckin' great. I put ketchup on basically any meat.

My friends call me crazy for this, too.

My family has a weird thing with ketchup. My uncle puts ketchup on ham and my grandma puts it on eggs.

I like A1, but my go to is ranch, lol. I'll dip the steak in ranch. I also dip fries in ranch too.

I think ketchup or A1 with steak and eggs tastes pretty good for breakfast. Not a dinner steak though.

Also felt a slight pang of guilt, like I should be more grateful that I have had the opportunity in my life to be able to choose to have steak for breakfast or dinner.

I'll use A1 on cheaper cuts or when I accidentally overbook a steak. If I make it perfect then no, the steak is perfect alone. But I'm not always perfect.

OP the difference between A1 and ketchup is the difference between a steak and a hamburger. A1 is completely acceptable on steak.

If its a cheap cut of steak, like a sirloin, I use A-1 all the time.

Rib Eye or New York, get the fuck out of here with that stuff.

When I was younger I'd use A1. I'd only use ketchup on cubed steak. Now I'll just have some horseradish on the side like a goddamn adult.

I use ketchup on steak sometimes. Not a fan of A1.

If I buy a nice steak and season and cook it myself I'll eat it plain though. Cooked rare/medium rare, and with a nice glass of scotch.

I do like a good Steak sandwhich w/ketchup on a long roll. Cut the steak into thin slices, on the rare side, drizzle some of the juice onto the bread, and a small line of ketchup, with greens on the side. Mmmm.

A1 on the side... Never on top.
And I only use A1 after around half the steak has been consumed and is no longer piping hot.

And rare or medium rare.
My steak should be bloody and mooing.

i used to use ketchup on steak as a kid because i had to have my steak super well done. used a1 a lot as well. i still use a1 on burgers n' such sometimes.

I'll use A1 on occasion if I order steak and eggs at a breafast place, but wouldn't think about using it on a dry aged 60$ steak.

Ding Ding Ding.

Ketchup on a Steak though......

I can kinda understand the reluctance against using steak sauce but...If you have a good steak, and you use a sauce on it that you like (and is made to go with it), doesn't that make the meal BETTER?

Question for folks in this thread - I honestly don't get the appeal of calling someone insane for their condiment choices. Is it just like a fun harmless thing to let off steam? Or are you genuinely threatened that people eat differently than you? Sorry in advance if this is a "explaining a joke spoils it" type situation.

look, A1 is perfectly fine for bad steak, or a steak you accidentally over cook a bit or whatever.

Ketchup is never ok.

and A1 in a nice steakhouse is never ok.

I won't name the guilty to protect them

I used to put A1 on the side for steak and pork chops but I don't think i've done it since high school.

A1 on burgers is pretty good though.
Ketchup is always paired with mustard, never alone.
