GameFAQs. It was my first message baord, and it gets wayyyy too much hate on GAF. A lot of the posters I've met are both hardcore, and nice.

It was one of my first message boards as well, but honestly the trolling is so hideous. At least from what I remember when I posted there frequently. I still drop a post here there once in a while though. Some of the individual game boards are ok, namely older ones.

Gametrailers I posted on quite a bit before I came to GAF, but again the quality is just terrible and the forums werent active enough anyway.

So yeah mainly just GAF. I also post on the HSX forums for movies, great place for film news. Some rare posts on CAG. There is another forum that I post on that is basically a very small community forum, like 10-15 active members, it started as a gba forum that was spinoff of gbatemp, but has gone through a number of different names over the years. Obviously lost people over the years, all thats left is just a small group of us who have known each other for like 10 years. Originally my first forum too. I think we are upgrading to a new site again, so that should be interesting.

You can and will get banned for basically anything. I don't know if I'd say they're less restrictive.

Even when I lurked GAF for like a year and a half, I knew when and if I got in, I wouldn't leave, pretty much have like zero complaints, and GAF has it's own little sub-GAFs that have good peoples in each. Word to HaloGAF, KanyeGAF, GAF-Hop, MvC3GAF and more, good peoples.

Gamefaqs was decent before they fucked up the design when they merged with CNET. But plenty of memories there, both in my regular and trolling mode.

I don't know, from my experience they are very loose with the banhammer. I mean not everything will get you a perma, but they definitely aren't lenient. Just look at the Encyclopedia Drammatica article about SA, they have a whole section about ways to get banned. It's pretty funny.

Since coming to GAF I haven't had a need to go to any other gaming forum. People here are just so much more mature and actually enjoy having a discussion about something as adults. Can't really say that for the majority of gaming forums out there.

When it comes to other topics, sure. I visit the Swedish underground forum flashback.org pretty regularly, but I hardly ever write anything there. They have pretty much every topic you can think of there, but also a lot of immature people. Since they have pretty much every topic there, that's the only other forum I visit regularly.

Used to be a regular on Sweclockers.com's forum but it kinda lost it's charm over the years. Most regulars that I liked stopped visiting for some reason, so so did I.
