I definitely spend more time on NeoGAF than probably any other site at the moment, and I was curious to find out how the rest of GAF rolls with regard to other forums. Internet forums remind me of the early days of the 'Net, when it was more about actively sharing information than merely seeking it out and digesting it. I really enjoy the interactive nature of forums, and they're good for keeping up-to-date on current events as well since big news threads tend to float to the top. They're also beneficial for other sites because threads will link out to articles and/or videos, drawing a lot of traffic to those other avenues.
That being said, there aren't many forums that can compare to GAF, IMO. No other forum that I've come across has the community, strict moderation, and quality discussion (95% of the time) that GAF has. Even though most of the Web's message boards run on one of a handful of popular forum software packages, many of them are just plain ugly and bloated compared to GAF's simplicity. But maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places.
What other Internet forums do you regularly visit and participate in?
The only other forum that I bum around in is Sherdog MMA Forums.
I've been a member there for years, but I have a total of four posts. I'm basically a glorified lurker, but I stay logged in so I can hide sigs and show 30 posts per page. Being a huge MMA fan, I love hopping on Sherdog throughout the day to keep me filled in on all of the latest happenings in the sport. It's another vBulletin forum, but once you've hidden sigs and set it to 30 posts per page it's actually pretty clean and easy to navigate. There are a bunch of subforums, but the two main ones (UFC and Worldwide MMA) are the equivalent of our Gaming/OT sections. Ad blocking is a must, though. The forums are a fucking mess of banner ads and popups if you don't have it turned on.
Sherdog sometimes has a bad reputation for having idiotic posters that give MMA fans a bad name, and that label is somewhat accurate. The moderation over there is decent, but a lot more garbage finds it way through than what you'd see on GAF. Despite that, a good proportion of the Sherdog community is knowledgeable and passionate about MMA, and that forum has had its fair share of Megatons and legendary threads.

So what other well-designed forums with decent communities do you all visit throughout the week?

And there are lot of bonerific avatars.
