Match based on control type (Xbox and PC). Enable Mouse and Keyboard controls on Xbox One. Problem solved.

Not solved at all, I buy competitive shooters on console specifically because I don't want to use mouse and keyboard.

Luckily I happen to not care for competitive MP in Gears so I can 60fps my way through the campaign from the couch for this one. ;-)

Most games on pc seem to dwindle after a while. I don't think it being on steam or any other service would help that either. It just happens. Some games can beat those odds but most don't.

I suspect it'll be dead pretty quickly, it's limited to Windows 10 only which immediately cuts it's potential audience substantially as many users are still on Win7.
Plus it's limited to UWP, which seems half functional at the best of times and many many users just flat out will never use Microsoft's app store.

It's also a series that doesn't really have much of a following among traditional PC exclusive gamers so it was going to face an uphill battle to begin with.

The deal with nVidia will help a little, but that's ultimately going to be a small fraction to the needed user base. And there is no real indication anything has succeeded on UWP yet, eventually something will.... but I see very little reason at all to believe that something will be Gears.

My guess is within two months it's completely dead.

If I had to guess, the way it is structured and the only way it is available to purchase, my gut says the MP player base will dwindle quickly. If it was available on a more popular platform, if it had dedicated user owned server support, had a long successful history on PC and/or was developed by Blizzard, I'd be confident it would be healthy for a good long time, You don't need all of that but it's better if you have at least one. Now Rainbow 6 Siege apparently overcame these limitations so it isn't unheard of but it's starting on the wrong foot.

How would this affect you? Match based on control type. Mouse and keyboard users (xbox and PC) are matched together automatically and controller users (xbox and pc) would be matched together.

MP (most important) will be dead on PC. If it was on Steam, then it would be a different story.

Game is bundled with new Nvidia cards so it should still have a reasonably large population. Certainly better than the remake.

As I comfy couch player this is all I care about. Can't wait to horde it up at 60fps.



There's precedent here. All "console" oriented MP shooters are mostly dead on PC.

Private versus is crossplay as well.

Pretty much everything but public versus is crossplay.

How is that gonna work out for console players?

I think only Competitve VS modes are locked 60fps

Crossplay Horde mode is all that matters
