Do you think Gears E-Day will also come to PS5?

Xbox fans had finally started accepting that Microsoft is basically moving toward a third-party publishing model, and then Asha Sharma suddenly goes out there and reopens the exclusivity debate all over again.

What makes this weird to me is the messaging. If Gears E-Day is eventually announced for PS5 too, then what exactly was the point of giving Xbox fans hope with this kind of PR? Why lean into that conversation if the outcome might end up being the exact opposite?

And then there's the feedback page, which honestly makes it even stranger. Anyone could've predicted what the first big topic would be: exclusivity. It immediately puts that debate front and center again.

So what do you guys think?

Is Gears E-Day staying Xbox/PC only, or do you think a PS5 announcement is coming later?

If it's not going to stay exclusive in some form, then it really raises the question why go through all this messaging in the first place. Why reopen old wounds and revive a debate that was already calming down?

And if it does happen, do you think Xbox fans will blame Asha Sharma for reopening this whole conversation in public?

The argument is kinda moot if they still release their games on Steam, which by everything they've said so far that will remain the case. The "console exclusive" verbiage is just a PR euphemism for..... the game is available on two platforms.

Unless MS is willing to revert the whole point of Project Helix, I don't get how they can afford NOT to release games on PlayStation.

Their next console is going to be really expensive and run PC games. Unless they decide to ban steam or other stores, they will lose the cut they make on all the software and will need to rely mostly on subs and game sales.

How in hell can they afford NOT to release games on other consoles without taking a massive hit? Also, apart from Forza Horizon, what exactly are these exclusives people still give a shit about? They have been milking Halo, Gears and Forza to the point no one cares anymore.

I don't think Xbox is at any position to demand exclusivity from players. They want their game to reach the most of customers, I don't think they have an actual choice unless they are okay losing more money. The brand is way too damaged, frail and with absolute no presence on console market.
They were at good position on Xbox360 era, which was the perfect time to not screw the fuck up. But they had to active their peak autism.

True exclusives died as soon as ABK went through. They should have walked away when they realized they couldn't make it all exclusive. Now they're too big to not be multiplat.

Xbox as a console is done.

Purely from a business perspective, they can't afford to make it exclusive. Keeping it exclusive means its sales will be abysmal.

They need it to be on PS5 and it is going to be on PS5.

You know I want Xbox mfers to have real exclusives again and be proud of what they have.

If it comes to PS5 I'll get it, if it doesn't I hope the Xbox players actually play it. A shame MS completely fucked the brand.

I don't believe Satya will actually let the Xbox division go into the red to support exclusives. I think a PS5 release for all their first party titles is inevitable. In fact, I'm assuming E-Day will be launched on PS5 as well. I think it will likely be announced at their upcoming notE3 showcase along with the release date.

The math just isn't there to support this narrative that they're going to undo all the decisions Phil implemented - specifically PS5 releases. It's a nice dream, but it's not going to happen.

Also: Remember Xbox is putting all their games out on Steam now. Steam takes a 30% cut, just like PlayStation. Sure, you can buy those games on the Xbox PC app, but almost no one does. If they're putting them on Steam, they're not "exclusive" to Xbox. Since they're not exclusive, no reason not to release on PS5.

Yes. Nadella will want his bonus.

£22 to rent it on gamepass for a month versus £50+ to buy it on playstation.

Imagine thinking Asha has a say on anything

She is 100% PR bullshit

'Cause despite being third party, Xbox also sells consoles (well, they want to)

So of course they will buuld hype for people to buy consoles

This kind of knee-jerk reactionary response is precisely what got Microsoft into this mess to begin with.

Halo and Gears, maybe Fable and Forza are the only tentpole Xbox franchises they have left. If Gears was not previously confirmed for PS5 and now is, I don't see how they can say they're committed to exclusives. They can spin a tale about how they're bringing older Xbox games to other platforms, but if they go multiplatform a new megaton entry in a core franchise, that says it all. I could see them launching on Xbox/PC first, and seeing how well it's received while having a PS5 version ready to go.

Unless Microsoft is willing to take a massive financial hit re-committing to exclusivity, we are going to eventually see E-Day on Playstation.

Asha is just marketing using the same playbook used by Spencer for over 10 years to create false hopes and inspire what is left of the community.

Her actual decisional power probably ends with things like deciding to change "Xbox" with "XBOX" :pie_roffles:
The rest is decided by Nadella and the CFO and Xbox isn't in any way a viable platform to support exclusives.
You'll see some timed 3-6 months exclusives during the Project Helix launch window just to try to make some people jump the gun and buy the console and that's it (and because of this they'll have the execuse to say they have listened).

At first, I thought this feedback system was a really nice move by Microsoft. And from a consumer perspective, it genuinely is. But after looking at the most upvoted topics, I realized they created a problem for themselves for no real reason.

The most requested thing is exclusive games. They're not in a favorable position for that anymore, it's very unlikely they stop releasing games on PlayStation, and completely impossible for them to stop releasing on PC.

So what exactly are they supposed to do with that feedback now? I don't know, but that's precisely why companies usually only communicate openly with their communities in extreme situations.

In think it might be at the very least timed exclusive.

The exclusive talk isn't something only mentioned by the Xbox fanbase but now Xbox leadership, it would be daft to bring up the topic of exclusivity and just keep things as is.

Didn't ms already said that was going to PS5??
Even IF ms changes their policies I don't think they would do to games that are coming out soon ??

Xbox never really generated any money, it's very small part of a big organization (heavnes, Linkedin WILL generate more money than xbox this year!!), it burnt money in a bunch of merges that never really justified themselves and it's pressured to generate money asap... the answer should be obvious by now...

I don't see how a few fanatics begging for exclusives can change anything. The same cult members mind you that a few months ago were singing how bad exclusives are for the industry and how evil Sony is keeping their games away from Xbox.
