According to my research that is the grammatically correct past tense of text but it feels so wrong every time I hear it. I always say something like "I sent him a text earlier"
I know it technically is right and most people I know use it. Something about it doesn't feel right to me probably the combination of the x and the -ed on the end.Yes. It sounds right to me.

I say text instead of texted. Texted just sounds clumsy.
Same as bet or cut, I wouldn't say cutted.
It might be because I was born well before texting was a thing. I've always found linguistics very interesting and I recognize texted is correct but it stills feels weird to me.You are being silly. It is 'not right' for you to feel this way because you're clearly wrong, and you should not feel bad about it.
And you're example is shit because 'bet' and 'cut' carry the past tense. #clumsy
Their right you know..I evolve language, you devolve it
No I'm American. I say "I sent him a text". To me that feels a lot more normal. Are you English or something? They love to stick to weird spellings and pronunciations.
Of course "texted" is the correct way to say it .
Bro, do you even sext? What about sexted?
I agree with that much. It sounds worse and is grammatically incorrect.Yes, I hate it when people say things like, "I text you last night."

Opted, vaunted, daunted, etc. my issue is with the x sound not the t.you say that, but can you actually think of a word that ends with the letter 't' that appends 'ed' for its past tense version?

Making a noun into a verb. Suuuuper common with a lot of websites.Agreed 100%
I also hate it when people say, "Inbox me." Why can't they say the word message? It sounds so dumb.
