Does anyone here sleep on the floor?

Yeah sometimes. I literally just had a nap on the floor listening to the Journey OST as I am home sick from work and feeling too ill to concentrate on a game. I find I feel cooler on the floor and I find it comfortable with or without a pillow.

I used to get back spasms when I was younger and sleeping on the floor really helped ease pain & the frequency I got them.

I still occasionally do it if my back flares up( or I'm at a party lol), really helps.

Slept on the floor for a couple years in high school. Dunno how it started or stopped, but I feel like I'd like to try it again, I loved it. I never feel well rested these days. Stupid comfy beds

I have slept on the floor plenty of times, OP. You aren't the only one. I also have slept in a closet in a hotel room, underneath a table (hit my head when I woke up), and underneath a bed. So, nope, not a terrible thing to sleep on the floor... I do it often. I also clap when I wake up.

Sleeping on the floor with light bedding is actually the healthiest way to sleep. You are suppose to be able to sleep in lots of different environments. Ever sleep in someone else's bed and wake up sore? Your body is weak and only used to one type of bed. You need to sleep on a variety of surfaces to improve your variability and cell health.

Same goes with most of your furniture.

The best beds are those who only consist of a big mattress. Fuck bed frames.
The bed my wife and I have (actually given as a wedding gift), was really nice..Except for the cheap particle wood they used to support the mattress. It was only used on the sides, as the boards running across the bottom of the bed were solid wood. Took about 2 and a half years before they started to break. Not sure why the company used such a cheap shortcut like that, because the entire rest of the bed is rock solid.

I used to use a futon but then again sometimes a big blanket and a couple of pillows would do.

Yes this is an asian thing

Actually, really, I don't advise anyone to sleep under anything they can wake up and bang their head against.. like a table. I've slept under plenty of tables in my life and I can tell you it almost always ends up with me banging.

Dat double entendre.

Tape a pillow to the bottom of the table?

When I was a kid one time I fell asleep in our old house at the top of the stares, it was actually a rather enjoyable nap.

I don't like beds so I sleep on a mattress on the floor. I'd much rather have a Japanese futon since I loved them when I was in Japan but they're too damn expensive to get here in the states.

I would do this before school or when skipping class using my backpack as a pillow, but otherwise no, not a fan.

Actually, at one of my highschools they passed a new rule because of me sleeping in front of the classrooms. Mean nuns. :(

I basically sleep everyday on the floor except when my girlfriend is here.

Korean houses, a lot of them, have a special, soft kind of floor, different from your western house. I can pretty much just put a pillow and sleep right away, without any "futon" or things making it more soft.

My body doesn't hurt at all and I notice that when I sleep on the floor I always wake up fully rested and full of energy. The quality of my sleep is really something. Even if I only sleep like 4 or 5 hours. Also I have 2 slipped discs, so it helps my back a lot.

Will never go back to regular mattress. My problem now is what I will do once I get married. Can't exactly sleep on the floor everyday (although the GF doesn't mind and also like it)

My brother does that sometimes when he is too tired/lazy to take a shower (or if he plans to do that later and wants a quick nap). Since we are in Singapore, he sometimes does it because the floor is pretty cold to sleep on as well on warm days.

I think sleeping on a harder surface (firmer than a bed) in the supine position is better for your posture and stuff. I keep meaning to transition because I like the idea of austerity and stuff, but I'm naturally a side sleeper and beds are too fucking comfortable.

When I was younger, my two older brothers and my dad would take the couches and recliner, so I would lay on the floor when we watched TV or whatever. Obviously this led to passing out, and rarely would I wake up and go into bed.

I have always found the floor to be sufficient and usually decently comfortable (good carpet is unreal). Saying that, I don't think I would choose the ground over a couch/recliner or bed.

i had a friend in college that did this. He went through some trauma growing up, that I'm not sure even he recognized, so I didn't give him that much of a hard time about it. He would try to argue sometimes that it was better for one's back, which is just nonsense.

It isn't. Any sleeping surface that compresses (like anything with significant cushioning) will tend to leave your vertebrae in a relatively compressed state, too, because you sink into it. A harder surface lets your vertebrae stretch out. It's probably not a big deal either way, but that's not to say that there's nothing to it.

When I was a kid I love sleeping on the floor and thought a bed is just a waste of space, but my mom wouldn't let me and got a bed for me.

Last year when I was in Boston to work at PAX East, I had to sleep on the floor of the hotel room I shared with 3 friends for 3 nights. It wasn't bad at all as it was pretty comfortable with a bunch of pillows. The only annoying part was having to wake up and roll over whenever my early morning shift friends got up and being close to the bathroom.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna sleep on the floor again for this year's PAX East since I'm staying in the same hotel again. C'est la vie. Also, I still sleep on a bunk bed as an adult (top bunk, sad I know) despite nobody sleeping on the bottom bunk any more. It was a bit problematic for this one girl I had a one time fling with last summer so we took it to the floor lol. I can see it being problematic in the future. Since my room is big, I usually watch TV/movies on the floor and have sometimes dozed off for a few minutes.

I love sleeping on the floor!!!! There's so much room and you can orient yourself and arrange your blankets however you want. I sleep on my bed too but it really depends on how I'm feeling.

You bed-only people will never get it until you expand your mind and try it, maaan... My girlfriend wasn't into it either at first but now we are on the floor all the time!
