Does the PS4 Pro Play UHD Blurays?

Terrible. Games are getting so huge. One day or another these consoles have to support UHD for physical media.

I really hope Sony says that it's coming post launch in a firmware update or something. I'm genuinely upset about his since I want the console but a big part of the reason was because I was expecting UHD blu-ray capability.

That's....so weird. Maybe they're looking at 4K blu-ray sales and making an educated guess as to how long they'll actually be around.

They're probably right.

Maybe Cerny is just trolling Rigby?

This has GOT to be an error right? I mean Sony's on the Blu ray board.

Let's wait a little bit before jumping off the deep end. Rememeber when MS announced the Xbox One S, it was not clear until a few hours after the Conference that it indeed had a UHD player in it. They also talking about 4k Streaming and such, but not until after was it confirmed to also have the UHD player.

The only reason I can see Sony not doing this is they are banking on streaming 4k content and to keep costs as low as possible.

This has to be a mistake. Press talked to an uninformed pr person (or they misunderstood the question.)

I can't fathom it not supporting it.

So it doesn't? Who goes to buy a console that has HDR and 4K capabilities if they can't put in a 4K disc to watch on their 4K TV?

I was wondering why they went out of their way to bring up 4K streaming apps, but not mention 4K UHD Bluray.

Wait what now I have to think about it. Guess I'll buy a Samsung 4k player. No i dont want an Xbox s. I'll play those games on pc.

Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool how can they fuck this up if that tweet is true.

So support 4K streaming/gaming content but not movies...Wut.

Hahaha hahaha omg. This is the dumbest thing Sony has done in long while.

As in it instantly secured a One S order from me.

Plain stupid.

The Pro is only $100 more than the Slim, it wouldn't surprise me if they cut 4K BRD to meet that price point.

Frankly, I'd rather keep my regular PS4 and buy an actual 4K Blu-Ray player now. Sale lost, Sony, good going!

This is a huge dissapointmemt. I assume they wanted to keep the price below 400. But I would have preffered a $500 price tag with a uhd player.
