What the fuck are two lemon wedges doing on pizza. No, really. Explain that.

You're squeezing lemon on to cheese? Everything else posted here, including the joke toppings mentioned in the Onion video, makes more sense than that. Literally.
It looks like it's a seafood pizza. You always get lemons with seafood.

Pizza Capers

This is how chain store pizzas are in Australia. WTF do you americans do to yours?
That Chicago pizza looks like grilled cheese on toast with bbq sauce!

And here all along I've been trimming my weeds and throwing out the clippings when I could have been using them as pizza topping. Who woulda known?

It looks like somebody emptied a trash bag on a pizza.

I gotta admit, those two examples probably weren't the best to post of 'Australian' pizza, but as an Australian with an Italian background I can definitely say we have some great pizza restaurants here.

And I thought american pizza looked disgusting.

Do you guys not put food on your pizzas?
I think it's more that we, and I say this as a person that hasn't experienced many great mom and pop shops, don't tend to pile on a lot of loose toppings, like the greens and the lemons.

I still want to know more about them, though. They do look interesting.

Korean Pizza Hut is mediocre - but that's not saying much either.
Wut?!
The Korean Pizza Hut I ate was vastly superiour to any Pizza Hut in the states I have ever been to.
But the Filipino 5-star-ish Pizza Hut I ate in takes the cake. Simply brilliant.

They're tasty as hell. I can only assume those making fun of them arn't used to trying new things.

I think I can say this with complete confidence- If your favorite pizza isn't from a dimly lit restaurant with red and white checked tablecloth, candle in a little jar at the table, drinks in red plastic glasses with Pepsi/Coke logos on them, pepper and parmesan in little round glass shakers, and a 15 year old arcade/pinball machine in the corner, you're wrong. Every city in America has a version of this and is your goal in life to find it and cherish it forever.

Here's the best visual I can find-

Clara's in Richmond Indiana, and yes that is a double-decker bus with tables you can eat at.

I'm in the "Australian Pizzas are better" camp..

Thats Domino's Chicken and Feta. Tastes a dream.

Honestly it just looks like Americans eat cheese pizza..

ah god that looks appalling. Even worse than Australia's trash bag pizza.
It tastes awesome though.

I'm amused at how much you guys care about the look of the pizza considering that it all ends up as shit in the end anyways.

I care more about the taste than what it looks like.

Those posting pictures of pizza from Australia and saying it's better are doing precisely that.

"Our pizza is better than your pizza" thread is fast becoming the "lol milk in a bag" thread

Those posting pictures of pizza from Australia and saying it's better are doing precisely that.

.

i find it amusing that some of you are so dense that you're using the image i used from wikipedia to explain what a "party cut" pizza was as the gold standard for american pies :lol

No they're not, they're not saying it's better because of how it looks. They're showing what the pizza looks like and saying they think it tastes better.

If the worst thing people can say against Australian pizza is that it looks bad, I think that's a pretty strong compliment.

I find it amusing that so many people in this thread are having a dick-measuring contest about pizza. the fuck are you so insecure about that you have to bash pizza from another place.

Unless they are claiming it tastes better than a picture they are doing exactly what you're accusing others of doing.

That's pretty much been every pizza thread I've seen on Gaf.

Australia, thinking their shit is awesome... till they show the rest of the world

Americans, thinking their shit is awesome no matter what.

C'mon man, compare that cheese flop to how the rest of the world makes their pizzas.

But yeah, Scots have a habit of deep frying everything.

Even things that have already been deep fried.

By the way, assuming it hasn't gone downhill since I was last there (quite a long time ago) I recommend Eatalia's on Leith Walk in Edinburgh. Ah, happy days...

Where's GAF on California Pizza Kitchen?

i like CPK, just like i enjoy any creative pizza toppings. but i think ignoring or slamming traditional pizza in favor of a lot of crazy toppings sort of misses the beauty of pizza: something great made from very simple, cheap ingredients.

I only get to have CPK very rarely, but I love it. One of the highlights of my infrequent trips to Atlanta.

Uhhhh

fact: If you want to see how good of a pizza a particular pizzeria makes, you always get a cheese pizza, no fancy, extravagant toppings that dazzle and distract. A good pizza = good dough + crust + tomato sauce + cheese. That's it. Simple and perfect, that's all you need. If that base sucks, no amounts of crumbled stilton, pea shoots, parma ham and black truffle shavings will save that pie.

It's true that whether or not particular pizzeria is good depends on the base, but damn. What's the point of pizza with nothing but cheese? Pointless, that is. A miserable pile of dough and cheese.

Dough, tomato and cheese isn't really what I'd call a meal. If I'm eating pizza for dinner I'm going to put some food of substance on it.

Seriously though, you're all arguing over food. Everyone has different tastes.
