DOOM 3 BFG Edition Dated and Priced - Oct 16 NA - Oct 19 EU - 360/PS3 $40 - PC $30

Yeah I hope so, but the 3D technique a lot of console games do is half the resolution vertically and crossing the images. The 3D works well with the depth etc. on games like CoD: Blops and Crysis for example (on my 360), but damn the low resolution makes the games look ugly.

those predate the 360 being able to output in a true 3D resolution. side by side was the only option for games back then. games since have output in higher resolutions, and in proper framepacked 3D (Halo Anniversary, Batman Arkham City, Sonic Generations, Silent Hill Downpour all come to mind), though i'm not sure anything on 360 is full 720p in 3D (as i know certain PS3 titles are like Motorstorm Apocalypse, Wipeout HD and Super Stardust). it can do it, it's just a question of if the ported engine has enough juice.

since it sounds like the game is running at 60 fps in 2D, 30 fps in 3D should be perfectly doable... unless he wants to prioritise framerate over resolution.

Dunno if they made any mention yet, but I wonder if they're replacing the medpack graphic in 1 and 2 like they did for Doom 2 XBLA. I also wonder if they're going to have their own updated engine for the PC version, or if they're just going to DOSBox it.

Bullshit, flashlight mod was made on the first day of Doom 3 being released, and new levels is nothing compared to the oodles of maps created by the community since 2004. As much as I adore Doom I don't really see any reason to pick this up for $30 (or even $40). Free for PSN+ users or bust.

Think I'm going to pick this game up after its release date. Timing of this game coming out is not good for me.

Might be cheaper when I get later too.

Will pick up in 6 mos. when discounted for PC. Everyone who says this is a "value" must have a different definition of it than me. But, I will say, for console players, this isn't a bad deal at all. It's a great title that should be played by all. That said, for $30 for PC? No freaking way. We've had access to most of the new features that this re release has for years. I would say it should have been free patch or $5 max for existing customers and $20 for new PC customers.

It's too bad they didn't announce they were looking at user feedback to determine what changes to make, because I would have spammed their inbox with my many and brilliant ideas.

Is there a list of changes available yet?

The left one has deeper blacks. I'm sold. Oh wait that's the old version.

Did not know that this was an older technique, Gears 3 does it side-by-side aswell and that's not so old of a game. I'll have to try Halo and Batman when I get back from holiday. thanks for the info!

Sounds good if Doom 3 is normally 60fps and drops to 30 for 3D, I might actually use this as the first game I play through entirely in 3D.

Did people really expect this package to be 10€/$? That's just absurd. All the HD remakes have been 30-40€/$, and they didn't have any changes or extra content whatsoever. I don't remember hearing people whining about the price and already having the PS2 versions, when the HD remakes of GoW I+II and RE4+CVX were announced.

I think Digital Foundry said AC:Revelations was the first true 720p stereoscopic game on the 360

Those were both collections of two full games, and let me assure you there was a lot of whining about the HD versions of RE 4 and CVX costing $20 each.

But the price of Doom 3 BFG doesn't bother me. I'll consider getting it next year when it's $20 or less.

I'm sure there were complaints. Although not as many, considering God of War 2 was only 2 years old when the remake came out. And even the original God of War was only 4 years old. Both are more highly regarded games as well.

Doom 3 and RoE are essentially two full games + you get the new Lost Mission and Doom 1&2. That being said, 30€ would have been better, but I'll buy it day one nonetheless.

As for RE4 & CVX, if you took the PS+ offer like I did, you got them for 35€ with three months worth of free games and discounts.
