Sheever is generally pretty good about following and commentating the action, the biggest issue is that she isn't fluent enough yet for the commentation to flow naturally.

Ok beginner's question - for Ursa, what are I supposed to put his stat points into? Agility since he's an agility hero, or go full strength + Tarrasque to tank and take advantage of Enrage?

Buy HP. You're gonna be focused every fight. Buy priority is vlads > blink / bkb > tanky items. Basher can be good, but with a good team you shouldn't need those stuns. Tank up for ez wins.

I've been playing for a bit now, and I've been maining Zeus. I'm doing well in these lower battlepoint levels, but I was wondering, how low on a tier is Zeus? I'm sure he struggles against more advanced characters, but would there ever be a place for him in those higher level matches?

And if anyone wants to recommend some good Ranged-Support heroes, feel free.

bro that's why they're a thing now.

Different color schemes? They're both pretty much white/blue/purple.
One has a black cat, other has a white cat. But still. They look similar enough to the point where its easy to confuse them in the heat of battle.

Mirana is the hotter one. There problem solved.

I've gotten Mirana and Luna mixed up before. Maybe Valve is on to something when they talk about silhouette recognition. I keep half expecting Luna to leap.

... He's a great gank hero, you just gotta get stats and a bottle. His cleave and aura thing is worthless untill later..

No, he's an okay gank hero. If you wanted a dedicated stun hero, get ES. If you wanted a hero that scales better both early and late game, pick Slard. Its a non issue, he's just not that great.

I'm not saying he can never win and that's hes the worst hero, but there's almost always a better hero. I'd love to see him buffed or tweaked slightly.

Also Luna is awesome. But I do miss her old plain black design.

Do you think Valve will ever let us mod in old character portraits/release them as cosmetics? I'd actually pay a few bucks for Vanilla looking VS, amond other things (such as old design Luna.) Another mod I would love to see is the ability to swap to the old item icons, even the old UI. I would love it if everyone could customize their game to look/sound/feel exactly how they want it too.

Are Mirana's and Luna's cat mounts boys or girls? This is vital information for the fanfiction I'm working on.

I'd guess Sagan (Mirana) is a boy and Nova (Luna) is a girl.

Also if those two names are a reference, I <3 Valve for making it.

Is Mirana and Luna related in any way?

They belong to the same order that guards the Nightsilver woods. They call mirana princess of the moon but I don't know if thats a nickname or rank, being that she use to be a princess.

I hope valve goes more and more indepth with the lore. Animated shorts, web comics, books, turning it into a video game franchise would be awesome.

Argh, despite them having an almost fifteen kill advantage on us I soloed all three of their bottom towers as Axe in a span of about three minutes and then tried to get my team to push...we lost ten minutes later after no-one would

I want to know the story and personality of the new Dire Shop keeper. What tales does he have to tell.

Probably one of the worst things to lose over.

Really hate it when you get a team that won't push.

My previous game was probably my best ever as a support. Pulled and ganked with Luna bot and Furion jungle like a boss. And we pushed when we had an advantage.

The Luna on my team complemented me on the pulling and stuff so at least I know I'm getting better.

So, I just got access to this. I'm a TOTAL moba noob. I've played maybe 4 matches of League of Legends and that's it. What's the best resource for learning the game right now?

First off: Play vs bots (preferably with friends) to learn the basics and mechanics. That is the most important thing. Find a handful of heroes you can understand as well, before you dive into the PvP aspect.

I gave this post to a few people, they said it helped in the beginning, its quite a read though: http://www.purgegamers.com/welcome-to-dota-you-suck.

Also, when you do play with people, the biggest hurdle is to not get discouraged. You will do bad, people will say terrible things to you and about your family, but just ignore it.

Wisp seems pretty fun to use, although the game seems to think I'm terrible at it. Landing spirit hits can be pretty tough.

I've managed to build a heart in a couple matches, and it keeps your hp high during overcharge and lets you heal people, but I've found that a Perseverance will let you overcharge, keep a good amount of your health and actually cast spells. I've been getting Urn and Mek too, so healing isn't a huge issue.

Since solo MM is Oops! All Carries, I haven't tried Luna yet, but it's great to have a new support to be able to mess around with

Sounds good. I can deal with the haters I think.

Do you have reccomendations on good characters to try to start with? I got a little overwhelmed when I saw how many you could play as.

The general consensus here seems to be Lich for the hero of choice for noobies, and I will agree. He is a very easy, very solid Intel support hero who is good in all levels of play.

Personally, in addition to Lich I will also include Viper, a very solid tanky-Agility carry who is straight forward and has a low skill-cap. I would also recommend Tidehunter, who is a beefy-melee Strength hero. He falls in the initiator/support role.

The only benifit of that lineup is that it is a bit safer, you can get a level 1 roshan with Ursa + Anyone, but have a very small margin of error.

push strat lycan, lesh, furion, tempest, and sven (very key piece for stun) = ez wins

too bad you got rolled back to back games with that LOL (as evidenced by this steam convo)

Am I the only one who found playing against bots even on low difficulty to be basically infuriating because there was almost always Zeus and he used his amazing computer-knowledge to always kill you the nanosecond your health crossed the threshold.

My only complaint vs bots is, even on easy, they will 5 man push and instagib initiators with 5 spells at once. Still, that only happens at a certain time when they enter "mid game" mode. Their earlygame is pretty well-designed.

sweet ass, i finally got in. quick question. i mained dr. mundo, vlad, and kayle well throughout most solo ranked and normal LoL queues, what heroes are most comparable to those three champions?

one more thing, is there a video anywhere that translates LoL's terms and mechanics into Dota 2's?

*edit* bad virgule use, oh well.

Uhh. Mundo would probably be close to Pudge.
As for the other two... I honestly have no idea. Maybe Kayle = Omniknight?

The better idea would be to "main" a role, over a set of heroes. If I remember correctly, the 3 you mentioned from LoL all had differing playstyles, yet none of those were a carry, right?

Try out initiators, supports, gankers. Vlad is a mid ganker, right? Try some of them. Mundo is tanky. Try some tanky supports like Tidehunter. Or maybe Axe or Slardar.

As for videos, I'm not sure. I think the biggest difference between the two games, is the pace that can potentially be set within the first 10 minutes. Dota can either be a long and drawn battle, or a fast and vicious one. There's a lot of really good links on the first post to help you out.

Hmm, never read that before. That's a pretty good link. I'll pass it around to some of my pals. Thanks!
